Hey, cheers for the review, one quick question…Did you find over time that jog wheels loosened up? Mine came very stiff out the box but now 2 months later they feel looser, not a problem as I actually prefer a lighter tension for scratching but just wanted to know how yours feel now after use. Cheers bud

Hey man, great video. Like how you explained everything from your point of view. I was waiting for a video like this. My thing is that I have a DDJ1000 with recordbox. I have it from the first day it came out and changed my rx2 for it. I have a mobile DJ company. I love to play at it but I miss the capability to play without a laptop(macbook)and always afraid that the laptop will let me down so always a backup one. I start to become interested in the prime 4 but i need to leave the pioneer environment for it. How did you experienced it. Do you still use rekordbox or do you miss it?
Yes I left Pioneer and Rekordbox for Denon. I'll be honest, I still love rekordbox and think it's the best DJ software around. However the Prime 4 hardware is the best in the world. Not having to use a laptop is amazing, especially with the SSD which can be loaded up with 100000's of tracks. Combine that with the streaming capabilities and you'll never need a laptop again!
@@KizawaDJ is it stable.? I read some posts about crashes during streaming with 1.5.1 update.

@@KizawaDJ I've owned the prime 4 for a year now and no it has not let me down yet. Feels nice not to carry a laptop and having to worry about either or to crash. Everything on the prime 4 is sturdy and tight. Feels great.

It’s weird I hated it when I tried it out at guitar center but I bought the sc5000 and I absolutely love them!
I tried lots of different pioneer, my last attempt was a XDJ 1000 and I couldn't stand that thing for two days, returned and ordered a Prime 4 to make friends with my Prime Go that I use to play at the park
Hey ! I liked the video man ! But... The part when you say that one of " the cons" of the prime 4 is the 0.01 BPM adjust missing ... Because you don't want to worry about the beat match when you mix :D .. I laughted hard there! You're a dj, you're supposed to know how to beatmatch by ear ( I guess) and if you're off 0.05 bpm.. I don't think giving a little push once on the jog will ruin your creativity or the momentum. By the way, 5 minutes later, you say that " you are a fast DJ " You mix fast. So... It's a bit controversial mate :) I started dj'ing in 1999 with vinyls.... 0.01 bpm adjustment :D... Continue the great job man, your channel is cool ! :)
hi, could someone who owns the Prime 4 help me?
The BPM FX can be adjusted by milliseconds like on the X1800 or DJM-900 nexus mixers, or just by beats?
Have they since updated the BPM to .00 to your knowledge?
I have question about hot cues.
I was trying Prime 2 today and there was one thing I couldn't figure out. Whe I use my MC3000 together with Virtual DJ I use a lot of Hot Cues. The cool thing is that each time I use any of my Hot Cues and then press CUE button music stops at the last Hot Cue I used instead of going back to "main" cue point ( the one next to PLAY button ). It's so annoying that in Prime 2 each time I am testing my Hot Cues I have to find the way to go to the one I like. For example I want to jump to one of them and prepare loop... If I just pres hot cue button It starts playing and I cant set the loop.
I hope you understand what I mean.
Is this possible to make Prime going back to last Hot Cue I used? I was testing only with original OS without updating.
Let’s say you’re mixing four tracks. And track A sits on top of track C. And you pitch track A. My question is when you’re using then track C does the pitch goes with the nudge you did to track A or do you have to set the pitch back to normal and then move it ?
The Prime 4 looks amazing but I am a big Traktor fan so I will stick to my MC6000mk1 - works great with the latest Traktor Pro 3.5.

If you click the “Roll” button twice (at least using Serato Controller Mode) you will enable the Sampler. Hopefully it works in Stand alone mode as well.

This is the first video of yours that I have seen and will go back and watch the other two before this one. Thank you so much for making this video and the major props that you are giving this unit. I think the Pioneer people have been brain washed about all of there units new and old, but nothing I mean nothing matches what Denon has put out. prime 4 in my estimation is by far the best controller, stand alone mixer to date. Thanks again mate you are the bomb!!!

The jog wheels are loose ?? Lol. I’ve used every controller on the market they are the best small style jog wheels I’ve ever felt.
It would be cool if the Denon Prime 4 allows you to choose the loop Direction, I used too make the loops backwards, but with the Denon Prime 4 I can’t :(
hold shift then hit reverse, it will play backwards :)

No doubt it’s a top class set up but you have to think that if Denon offer a 4 channel standalone, pioneer will definitely do the same
Great video dude! I got mine in February & my view is exactly as yours. I find the fx is a bit cumbersome (for me) & agree that a sampler would be better than slicer within the pads. The build, sound & aesthetics are awesome & of course, no laptop & 4 channels. I'm not half as good as you with mixing but you made me think about the vertical waveforms to help out. I immediately switched to horizontal upon purchase because I was used to that from Serato but discovered when using 4 decks it was a bit hectic, lol. Will try the vertical waveforms & see how it goes. I really like Engine Prime too. I still have an SB3 & use that & Serato to prep new tracks & set hot cues. Upon import into Prime, I then use the star rating & add/save any loops. Adding the star ratings makes it easy to see my newly added tracks which I then drag into Prime collection individually. SD card, a backup flash drive. Good & easy recording. What's not to love?! Great unit 👍
Thanks for watching mate 🙏 can't say I'm a lover of the Engine Prime sofrware at all to be honest but it's lucky that it doesn't actually interfere with the mixing experience. Rekordbox and Serato knock the socks off Engine and it's a shame because the Prime units are so revolutionary and high spec. Hopefully they can catch up with the software side. Be sure to check out that vertical waveform too, definitely reduces the manic moments when mixing 4 decks. Still though, something that takes time to master 👊 good luck and have fun my dude 🤙

Are we brothers lol. Couldn’t agree more about the performance pad section. Not even gonna bother saying a word you said exactly what I thought.
This guys got it. The beat match is terrible. I’ve been djing since 1992. Vinyl for 20 years. And this is the first time in decades I’ve had to think about beat matching.
Meaning the tempo sliders and overall way the engine handles it is just off.
i can't get the reverb sounding good either (prime go)

Yes it does have a computer built inside and no it has never froze, i don't expect it to either for £1,400 😂😁😆
DJ Kiz Walsh thanks still debating with myself between denon and pioneer. Is denon durable? The pads are plastic and noisy on denon. Is there a delay on pioneer pad drum?
@@mikemercado5687 pads are not plastic, they are rubberized velocity pads. Pioneer XZ is a plastic bomber :(

Sounds like you are a pioneer lover then mate... 😆 I'll be honest, I don't care for mechanical jogs, I actually prefer touch capacitive. As for the design, I guess it's down to opinion. I love how the prime 4 looks🙏, Looking at the XZ for example just looks boring, the colours and lights make it fun man. It's just down to personal preference though 😜
