Im thinking pre heat will do wonders from my first welds with my new 255 millermatic. With .035 and 100 % CO2. Thinking about getting a gas mixer to get the mixes for the different welds. I know the mixer is expensive. I have 100% CO2 and 100% Argon. Dont really want to have to get 2 or three other mixes to have the capabilities for the pulse feature and 75/25 or 90/10 you are correct i will have to weld with it and learn the new machine. My old linclon 200 powermig. 20 plus yo was still doing a great job. But like a kid in a candy store. Couldnt resist having all blue machines in the shop. It definately is a learning curve going from an A through F and wire speed setting to the almost infinate setting capability of a machine that is much more capable of a machine than i am a welder. I do recommend getting linclon L-56 wire. Don't belive there is any better wire for the general repairs i do though. Find out what wire works for you the best. In short, i love the 255 millermatic
I am just learning to use a mig Miller 255 welder after using a stick Miller 255. Got to learn to consult the chart on the device . So far my welds are globs. I was using .035 C25 20V 350 IPM. I guess the chart says 19V 350 IPM.
Vertical down is not recommended on anything structural because it lacks penetration especially if you're using Short Circuit transfer mode, that's the reason why it's not a pre-qualified process in any building code not even using vertical up progression. It's easier to make it look pretty, but I would advise you not to get used to it since it's not really allowed. However It's perfectly fine to use on any other miscellaneous Metal project involving thinner metal.
If you need to run structural vertices than use dual shield. I’m the 15 years I’ve been working as a welder not once was I directed to run uphill verticle hardwire. For no structural do a nice looking down hill but an uphill hardwire weld is a useless waste of time
I have a Miller 250 I bought back in 1990. It has worked good and has a lot of miles on it. I was thinking about a new welder like the one you bought there. The welding shop told me not to because I would like the old one better. What was the reason for the new welder and what was the old one? Looks nice.
I replaced the whip, replaced the rollers and the grounding clamp. I'm still having some voltage issues and I don't know how to diagnose it without loosing my welder for a significant period of time. (send it away for repairs) Because either its a current controller issue or a wire feed motor issue. If i wasn't using the welder professionally on a very regular basis I wouldn't care because it still welds fine, just sometimes it acts up. So I decided to buy a new one. Plus i also stick weld a bunch, which is has & I always wanted to tig weld which is also has. So everything all in one.
@@simcoespring I want a tig also. We just Finished a custom build that was supposed to be the excuse to buy a tig but couldn't get the aluminum needed for the job so we used steal. My 250 has been set up aluminum spool gun also but it doesn't like the small stuff. I would like to know more about what fellow shop owner thinks of that new welder once you get some miles on it instead of a sales men, Thanks.
I bought a Miller Multimatic 255 from Baker’s Gas, and they advertised a Baker’s Bucks program that I would get $75 in Backer’s Bucks to spend at their store for every $1000 that I spent. They even have an example on the youtube video with Andy. “Example $3000 = $225 Baker’s Bucks”. After spending $6194.55 they issued a $100 gift card. Steve N’s position was basically that it was an old video. False advertisement is what it is. I wish Miller wouldn’t allow unscrupulous vendors to sell their products.
@@Migman2020 I bought a Millermatic 255 from a local welding store 5-days ago. When I asked if I could get a bottle of 90/10, they acted as if no one has ever asked for that mixture or ran MIG Pulse. They said they would need to order it from their fill depot 60-miles away and it would take a week. I was stunned! Isn’t MIG Pulse a great thing? It’s the reason I just sunk a good amount of money into it. I’m just a hobby guy that has had a Lincoln SP-175+ for 30-years.
@@rays9033 pulse mig opens alot of doors.. Should be getting me one ordered here soon hopefully they can actually get me one but if not it’s gonna take like 6 weeks but anyways have you done stick and tig on it how do they run would like to see more videos of the machine welding not a whole lot out there have you had any kind of problems with it or anything and also how does the new mdx5 mig gun feel?
