basically gear 5 is supposed to show luffy's true power, there's no way to rly explain what it is without having a major spoiler inserted but, basically, luffy can stretch and change shape as much as he wants, and he basically turns into a looney toons character, kaido hits him with the mace and his face stays in the shape of the mace, for example.
