from what i understood Carly had a connection with Japan before Call Me Maybe with her Folk indie 1st CD release Tug of War, Japan took her in before any one else outside of Canada knew her ,Also with her other Canadian EP Curiosity, She even did a bonus song for the Tug of War CD for Japan , This is more then likely why she released Emotion in Japan 1st ,,
Okay, this just changed my mind about her. It has plenty of 80's influence from the synth to the Prince like chorus. And the deep drums makes for a fantastic ballad. Well done Carly, I had no idea you had it in you.
I think this is her best work yet...people underestimate her so much because of Call Me Maybe. Music like this will get her the recognition she deserves

But then again... it's cool to know about songs such as this one which are amazing but only you know about them and no one else. Plus, Imagine if songs like is got well known and the radio repeated them 24/7, it would the song!

1 Yes ***** How her vocal style is at some parts reminds me of Britney's Baby One More Time album days, because it's coming from a throat and head voice projection.
I feel like I'm in a music video listening to this song. In a pink bedroom, with teddy bears all around and looking out the window for him to come see me. When he comes, I sneak out the window and we ride off to the park. Walk in the park with the city lights on a warm summer night laughin. Him telling me all his hopes and fears. This music is made of dream love and hope.
Not me reading and agreeing with this comment, tearing up! By just simply wondering if she ever feels this way about me, I'd really love to know. And then look up to your name, and it said "Jessica".. The girl that I've fallen in love with has the same name with ya. Now you made me has such an emotional wreck. Tearing me up even more! What a sad sad boy I am :(
if Carly keeps this up she'll be one of the best pop artists. Honestly, I did not like Kiss at all, but this album showed how truly talented a musician she is.
This song always have consoled me whenever I'm tired and used. Love every factor of this song, Carly's gentle voice like quiet waves, beautiful lyrics, and melodies. I hope someday there will be someone who is my lighthouse when I'm lost at sea. Love this song for years.
Daniel Mezquita Carly opened for Cyndi Lauper at a concert, said there was something about her she wants to bring back into music, and inducted her into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She's a total fan of Cyndi.
RapandRocker - This sounds nothing like 80s music, nor' does it have an 80s feel to it. There's just a linn drum. That's it. No polyphonic synths, nothing.
I love Carly ray Jepsen , her voice is killer to the bone. The music in this song is to die for, I thank God for her talents. She just keeps getting better and better. The backup singers are just super !!!!!!!
THIS IS SO GOOD. Its like a blend of Janet Jackson, Prince, Madonna and Michael Jackson. 80's pop and new wave confection glittered with synthesizers and cool-chill lyrics. So underrated. I got fucking tired of radio stations playing Taylor Swift and meghan trainor songs.
In a world filled with shallow songs about lust and excess, Carly's music is a breath of fresh air. It's nice to hear songs with sincere lyrics that touches the heart, and you can sing along to with so much EMOTION.
I haven't seen so many positive comments for someone like her in a long time 💯 I've had this song on repeat since the day I heard it❗️ I just wish that her voice was heard more. She has an amazing voice.
I always listen to Al Green and Prince and music that really defined certain era's. What I always wanted to hear was a modern song that actually placed itself in the past and, most importantly, be able to pull it off. Never did I ever think it would come from CRJ, but here we are. She has captured the 80's and I love her for it.
waaimasjien that was my first thought as well. if i didn't already know he was involved (as per their SNL appearance), i would've definitely called this a blood orange rip off. What i really want to hear is the demo that i'm sure exists with Dev singing
A lot better than her last single. If she continues down this route I think she can make some really good music. I hope she becomes more involved in the production process of her songs.
The lyrics of this song just moves me even after listening to it a few years later since it’s release. It reminded me of my ex, our relationship. How we had always been there for each other. It was extremely memorable, the highs and lows we been through yet sad looking back what could have should have would have been. Thank you for this song
This is a Masterpiece by Carly! I love it so much, its a real 80's soul song and i love it so much, im so excited for carly! Im gonna replay the song all day long
I hate how criminally underrated this young lady is! She sings, writes, and produces almost all of her music. She got pigeonholed for “Call Me Maybe” and no one took her serious for that but she’s actually brilliant.
I was reading these comments while the 30 second advertisement played, and it got me SO excited for this song. And boy, did it reach expectations. I love the Blood Orange vibes!
Most people say Carly can't make anything different and it sounds the same. I disagree. I nice change from Call Me Maybe, Tonight I'm Getting Over You, Good Time,This Kiss and her other works. I like it and if this is the variety that will be on the new album I am sure at least one song will pick up the eyes of many people. I wish you great success Carly, you are my third favorite Canadian!
Talking to someone who doesn't quite seem to reciprocate the same level of interest in you as you is probably the worst most confusing feeling ever. Our emotions don't deserve to be kept in limbo but the heart's curiosity always insists we continue even if it's bound for heartbreak...."Just show me that you care..."
Now silk sonic and Bruno Mars doing the same vibe. She’s ahead of her time ladies and gentlemen. I hope Carley will get the recognition she deserves not just the call me maybe girl.
Okay it's been a fucking month, so why in the FUCK does this only have 1 million views? I've literally told everyone I know, even my fucking great grandma about this song cause it's my absolute favorite right now, and it gets no recognition!?!? stupid.
lolnation123 I don't think they have pushed this single , No Video , they seem to only push I Really Like You ,, But its sad cause Carly has a lot of Amazing songs she wrote , in Folk Style and Indie Style and pop music she has not pushed , and these songs were before she became known out side of Canada
+lolnation123 1 million views is really a lot, i think .-.. I usually listen artist who has less than 10k views. That's we can call : no recognition ^^.
its an 80's R&B style Prince, Janet, and some of the early R&B singer used it. That's what stuck out to me and I love it as well. I give her two 👍 for the take me back to the days.
Me too, I was painting,.then herd this song, and was like who is singing this! I love this song so much, that I felt something that got me a little choked up! Great job, and thank you Carly!
LoganMartinsChannel To tell the truth her 3rd Cd was a step back ,To people outside of Canada Kiss is her 1st CD but in Canada its her 3rd , Her 1st CD was a Folk Indie CD and won Gold for a best over all Album ,, It was much more Mature then the Kiss CD .,, The CD is Called Tug Of War., Songs like Worldly Matters , Money and The Ego, Tell ME , Heavy Lifting ., Tug of War, I Still Wonder
To any one outside of Canada it was her debut Album , She was doing good in Canada with Folk and Indie songs, Call Me May Be was written as a folk song her friend had her change it to pop.
I am really digging this song. I love the instrumentation and production of this song, from the dark vibe, the melancholy guitars that add a nice touch to the song and the shimmering synthesizers that make this song pop out to me. Carly Rae Jepsen's vocal sound really good and makes this an excellent song. Well done :)
Jade's new single - Angels of my dreams was totally inspired by this great song. Hope Carly it's getting all the credits for that, girls. The pop bible keeps inspiring the world after almost 10 years 💕💕
i want a few but not a lot I think pop songs dominated Kiss and it just reinforced her as a mainstream pop artist & not someone who's really unique when it comes to their artistry plus songs like these really suits her voice I hope she brings back the vibe from her first album tug of war :)
***** I heard all of the album has to offer. It still has the joy of the bubblegum but has more of an emotional edge and sounds like a hipster record! I like it.
The best thing Carly Rae Jepsen has done with her career so far.
Frede Germanotta no she has older songs not well known cause they are indie folk music , Check out Tell Me and Heavy Lifting on you-tube ,
squamishfish I've listened to her previous songs and in my opinion this one is her best, that 80's vibe just kills me.
Frede Contre Gotta thank Dev Hynes and Ariel Rechtshaid for the production this song!
Frede Contre Ditto, the best damn thing she's ever done.

This track is wild. Love the chords in the bridge!
This might be her best track. So harmonically rich!
It upsets me that Carly has been dubbed by the media as the Call Me Maybe girl when she's so much more than that, musically.
*much more than ALL that

Call Me Maybe remains, of course, an eminently listenable track.

I tore this album up 10 years ago. This was my favorite song on it. She doesn't get the recognition she deserves.
Five seconds into the song, and I immediately was reminded of Prince's The Beautiful Ones. God, the 80s vibes on her album are just glorious.

I haven't seen so many positive comments for someone like her in a long time 💯 I've had this song on repeat since the day I heard it❗️ I just wish that her voice was heard more. She has an amazing voice.
I cried during this song
Watch to be without you. The music video is deadly sad, crying the whole time watching it. It was so good though. :)
SMASHING THE REPLAY BUTTON!!!!!
Who is this flawless chrerub who has graced my ears? Honestly, I liked Call Me Maybe (I'm sorry), so I'm happy she's still putting out music.
+Joey Perez
Call Me Maybe and I really Like You brainwashed me the most
+Joey Perez
Call Me Maybe and I really Like You brainwashed me the most
what's to be sorry about? call me maybe was everything💗
paradise2pink I guess because so many people hated it, and tbh I kinda hated it for a while, but we're cool now lmao
+Joey Perez It was overplayed, definitely one reason most hated it. But it's an overall solid pop song, everyone seems to forget that.
I always listen to Al Green and Prince and music that really defined certain era's. What I always wanted to hear was a modern song that actually placed itself in the past and, most importantly, be able to pull it off. Never did I ever think it would come from CRJ, but here we are. She has captured the 80's and I love her for it.
The whole album was the best pop album of last year. This is kind of the crown jewel of that album.
REAL MUSIC right here! 80's vibe.
Oh so current music is fake music? K bye then
This just screams DEV HYNES. I love it.
waaimasjien because it is
waaimasjien that was my first thought as well. if i didn't already know he was involved (as per their SNL appearance), i would've definitely called this a blood orange rip off. What i really want to hear is the demo that i'm sure exists with Dev singing
squattystx I know and I love that it's so prominent.
+Darrien Day I second that! although if you listen closely to the chorus, you can kinda hear his harmony is still in it
+waaimasjien I think thats why I liked it... I was like "dafuq? is this the same girl that made that one call me maybe song?"
Finally, a serious song showing that she really can sing.
I forgot about this album, loved it so much and still do!
A lot better than her last single. If she continues down this route I think she can make some really good music. I hope she becomes more involved in the production process of her songs.
Best song I've heard from her
The lyrics of this song just moves me even after listening to it a few years later since it’s release. It reminded me of my ex, our relationship. How we had always been there for each other. It was extremely memorable, the highs and lows we been through yet sad looking back what could have should have would have been. Thank you for this song
Years later, still in love with this song. ✨
Wonderful heartfelt song!
I was reading these comments while the 30 second advertisement played, and it got me SO excited for this song. And boy, did it reach expectations. I love the Blood Orange vibes!
+Natty B watch the live performance on Saturday night Live Dev plays with her
This song gives me ASMR.
I glad I'm not the only one that feels this from this song
What's ASMR?

Most people say Carly can't make anything different and it sounds the same. I disagree. I nice change from Call Me Maybe, Tonight I'm Getting Over You, Good Time,This Kiss and her other works. I like it and if this is the variety that will be on the new album I am sure at least one song will pick up the eyes of many people. I wish you great success Carly, you are my third favorite Canadian!
Carly is so talented. She's my favorite Canadian too and justin
Mariam Khalili justin bieber? lol nope
Arvidius ツ Well she didn't ask whether you liked it or not, she wad stating her likes not yours.
Jeannine Pierre gg. But Justin Bieber turned into a massive douchebag
Who's your first and second??? Justin bieber and....
This song is honestly the best slow jam pop ballad of this decade.
YOU NEVER FAIL TO SURPRISE ME, I LOVE YOU AND YOUR NEW MUSIC!!!
To the one person who brought me to this whole album, please know that I am still listening. I def owe you for this one so much! Miss you, babe 💕
That's we can call : no recognition ^^.
feeling that Dev Hynes vibe!
+colorfullightningtv He produced the track.
that's why I said what I said!
one of the smoothest pop songs of the 2010s
I love this music style, there should be a vaporwave remix of this song
its an 80's R&B style Prince, Janet, and some of the early R&B singer used it. That's what stuck out to me and I love it as well. I give her two 👍 for the take me back to the days.
Me too, I was painting,.then herd this song, and was like who is singing this! I love this song so much, that I felt something that got me a little choked up! Great job, and thank you Carly!
감미로운 목소리에... 서정적인 멜로디... 젭슨은 정말 노래 스타일 딱 내가 좋아하는 스타일이란 말이다.
This album is a masterpiece! And this song is sooooo cute 😍😍😍😍😍
just let me in your arms! this is still the best cut from her emotions album. so underrated
I absolutely cannot wait for this new album. She has grown so much. Production and songwriting is 10x better than her last album
Wow I thought that was her debut! Thank you
To any one outside of Canada it was her debut Album , She was doing good in Canada with Folk and Indie songs, Call Me May Be was written as a folk song her friend had her change it to pop.
How is she such an icon? I mean...the lyrics, the production...she is amazing. God bless you Ms. Jepsen
This is the type of music I've been looking for, it has a very 80's feel which is very cool and original
I am really digging this song. I love the instrumentation and production of this song, from the dark vibe, the melancholy guitars that add a nice touch to the song and the shimmering synthesizers that make this song pop out to me. Carly Rae Jepsen's vocal sound really good and makes this an excellent song. Well done :)
it's so 90s, classical with nowadays singer, it's been a while to hear such arrangement
Jade's new single - Angels of my dreams was totally inspired by this great song. Hope Carly it's getting all the credits for that, girls. The pop bible keeps inspiring the world after almost 10 years 💕💕
i'm still hoping for some bubblegum tracks on the album. Kiss was full of it and I ate it all up.
Yeah I love her bubblegum tracks lol she does it so well. I really like you is one of them
i want a few but not a lot I think pop songs dominated Kiss and it just reinforced her as a mainstream pop artist & not someone who's really unique when it comes to their artistry plus songs like these really suits her voice I hope she brings back the vibe from her first album tug of war :)
***** I heard all of the album has to offer. It still has the joy of the bubblegum but has more of an emotional edge and sounds like a hipster record! I like it.
okay, I just heard the whole album and I take back what I said. This song is basically perfect, and the rest of the album is as good if not better!
Very well produced, the voice just makes everything even better
the production and instrumental of this song is so pretty.
Carly said this song is the heart of the Emotion album! I felt that
She's underrated
Didn't expect that, I'm surprised. I like the song, this 80's vibe is great. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album !
The beginning sounds are magical when the vocals are about to start it sounds like an arcade game!! It makes me feel so nostalgic!!
I've never heard something perfect like this.
Better than any pop song she came out with so far. Born in the 90s but a huge fan of the 80s influence. Progressive in a sense.
The 80's are overwhelmingly back in style as of 2015 and i love it!!!
Gives me a really cool Prince vibe. Awesome!
such a beautiful song...
Good stuff, excellent bridge. I dig it.
Name: Carly Rae Jepsen
Superpower: writing songs like this. An instant classic. ❤️
This will win Grammys!
+Solo Radia Unfortunately, she's not even nominated, which I think is really unfair. This is one of the best albums I've listened to!
+Jenalene Santelices I wouldn't say it's the best album ever. But it's definitely my favourite pop album of 2015.
+Caleb Canagasingham she said it's one of the best SHE'S listened to. she's not saying it's one of the best ever
People really hate talent... sad.
IT DING DANG DIDN'T
