You are not alone in enjoying the whole wiring thing, I’m rather partial to it too. Im assuming that you put all your redarc inputs etc on 50A breakers/ Anderson plugs because 60A gear is too hard to get?? (Redarc instructions say to use 60a fuses on the input/output)

Yes, wiring is very enjoyable work :) 60A breakers are harder to track down, and I’m re-using whatever I already had. 50A is more than enough for my needs as I won’t be running more than 42A at any one time, and that’s using the fuse rating, not the actual consumption which would be lower. So I’m happy with what I’ve done so far. 😊👍

Artie, love your videos. What is the brand of the carpet you use and where did you buy it? I got some marine carpet from Bunnings but it looks like it might be too thick to make tight bends over the board. Was interested to see that you could drill it with out pulling threads. Great work. G’day David, thanks very much! I’m using marine carpet bought from Road Tech Marine. I think this is practically the same as the Bunnings marine carpet. I would have preferred something a little thinner, but at the time I ordered mine, lockdown restrictions were in full force and I couldn’t find anything thinner. I believe Bunnings sell boot liner by the roll - this is thinner but they have been out of stock for months now. Also, I’m not sure how well boot liner carpet would go if it got wet. Love seeing a great project. Currently attempting something similar but struggling to get the board mounted in the space. Was wondering if you could talk through how you are mounting that board against the inside panel. Looks like you are using the holes from the factory hooks but the with another strip between that and the board to add thickness before securing the board to that strip. Also any chance you have the board dimensions you used handy? 😂
Thankyou! I’ll try to include some more info on that in the next episode. I’m only using the aluminium strip because of the length of my board and the side wall isn’t flat all the way. If you only need a short board to fit the length above the wheel arch, it is possibly to bolt directly to the existing bolt holes. All the best! 😊👍
What's your reasoning on limiting the charge current by using a DC-DC with the lithium, which will have its own BMS to manage and protect the cells? Makes sense for the solar, but any decent lithium pack should be able to handle anything your alternator puts out.
