BOSS BABY that is factually incorrect. British police have special units who have guns. Basically our version of a swat team. Normal every day police don’t carry guns only a baton pepper spray and usually a taser. American police all mostly carry guns. These are hand guns, usually glocks, when a confronting someone who has been suspected of a traffic violation they will be commanded to keep their hands on the wheel. If they disobey this command and reach into a bag or into something of that sort. The police officer may shoot. If they do not shoot they may end up being stabbed or shot which happens a-lot to police officers when doing a traffic stop.

Tasers are not as effective as people think. Some people have a higher tolerance than others and sometimes there isn't a good circuit or sometimes it fails to even get a circuit at all.
TheBiggestOfPops drugs usually do not effect the taser. He could of had an "immunity" of sorts against it or maybe the tazer prongs didnt get a good shot. Or didnt make a good circuit

Cops there can't carry a gun. This isn't good training... This is reasonable officer fear. They know they can't do anything until there are several officers. They don’t know his background, he could be unwell mentally-having a breakdown-all sorts. British police focus heavily on de-escalation-it’s the only way everyone comes out in one piece. In this case, why antagonise the situation when dealing with someone who’s clearly already unstable. Yes he attacked, but the police are always trying to figure out the “why?”. If he suddenly has a lapse and realises what he’s done, he could try and harm himself. It’s all about de-escalation, showing compassion, empathy and understanding for situations of those we do not know. Even if just for the moment to subdue a suspect, that bit of empathy and calmness can be the difference between a live suspect and a dead one. A life is a life.

I've seen plenty of videos of American cops missing the suspect and tasing their own partners! lol With American cops shoot first think later trigger happy mentality im surprised they use tasers at all! By the looks of it, it's quite likely that the man is either intoxicated or mentally unstable. He was pointing those knives at himself several times to the point where he even cut his shirt, maybe even slightly cut himself. And that crying might have been a reaction to teaser, I think, as it is quite painful. Though one would need some further info on this case to fully determine what happened there. I don't think that he played innocent here

It's a good thing. People don't seem to understand that tazers don't always work. When facing deadly threat a gun is always the best choice because it's always guaranteed to work unlike a tazer. Cops shoot people in situations like these because their job is to defend the public and themselves. I've seen a ton of videos where tazers don't stop attackers because they're either too high or have a adrenaline rush.

By the way them two officers were wearing stab proof vest. The others one's were not unarmed they had sprey and a button and they were most likely wearing stab proof vest awell. The only cops from gwent police who are unarmed are community police officers and don't get called out to that scenario. But yeah you are right about the liberal thing.

I am all for using a gun in scenarios like this. The cop was literally defending himself against stabs with bare hands. Imagine the taser did not work (as they often don't), at least one cop might have been dead in that scene. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Some studies found out that in up to 40% of the cases, tasers did not function properly or did not work at all. Go figure. Second, area of the body covered by the vest is not the only place where the cop can be attacked, obviously. Even severe cuts "just" to his hands can render him pretty much unemployable for the future. Let alone femoral artery, neck, face... So again, go figure. PS: I am all for heavy regulations on firearms, but not in situations like this.

@@rrc6965 First of all, you cannot train for a knife attack with a 100% success rate. It is simply impossible. Furthermore, we are not talking about fending off an attack and running away. We are talking about the cops actually having to subjugate the suspect and prevent him from attacking anyone else who does not have that training. It is bare hands vs cold weapons (or worse). It is insanity by law. They are willingly putting their officers at risk and this will eventually backfire. Period.

AFOs (authorised firearms officers) are always on duty; any police car-usually a BMW x5 or Volvo-with a red asterisk printed on it indicates an armed response unit. They can be dispatched at a moment’s notice. The vast majority of UK officers are not armed due to the principle of policing by consent-the peelian principles. It’s the same model which the US bases its police. The difference in gun control plays a big part.

Alistair Williams it was pretty clear in the video that the guy wasn’t aiming for the neck, plus officers are trained to position their arms towards their center mass. The worst case scenario is the officer would get his arms lacerated while trying to protect his neck

From Dublin myself. Often visit Belfast and its so different up there now. Its a great place and the cops have so so much to deal with in the parts that havnt quite yet gotten over the sectarianism. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Will be driving from Hollyhead to Cornwall next Friday and then back again the week after. Loaded up one of my all time fave bands, the Manics on USB for the car. I've even 4 Manics tats, and been to Blackwood, the Severn and all before. Beautiful place and wonderful folk. The police here were unbelievably brave, patient and professional. I always, ALWAYS feel safe in Ireland and UK cities. Tbh glad the majority don't have guns!
No matter what this mans condition was, he went to stab that officer and that makes him an absolutely dangerous person who should not ever be on the streets. Respect to the police officers who handled that amazingly well. But that fact remains police aren't there to have people take a pop at them when they feel like it.
Police do a dangerous job protecting people in all kinds of situations. The best sort of training makes them able to fulfill that duty efficiently. Going at people to teach them what they ought not to be doing by firing on them would be standing down from one's command and duty. It would be admitting failure
I dont know the whole story but what i can say is he is in his property "assuming" and not on the street, as long as he doesnt harm anybody including himself and police doesnt have a warrant, he is self defensing and police will get sued for tasing him and the guy will get rich..all of these are assumptions tho

They're trained for up to 3 years to become a taser-qualified police officer in the UK, compared to an apalling 21 weeks in the US. This is supposedly remedied by the fact that US officers are equipped with firearms, but that's the difference. UK officers save lives, not take them. But you wouldn't know that would you? Because you always have to be number one.
Perfectly done from the officers. Really that's not the regular case, they still wanted him to calm down although they could get harmed or killed. But they didnt even get attracted by the violence and kept calm. Showing this much respect to a criminal is unusual. They did honor the police, good job.
Of course the police man safety matters, but this was some professional work. If you have to rate the effort of the police officers it was just perfect, nobody got really injured. So it was referring to their act, nobody said their safety doesn't matter. They saved one life instead of just taking it by shooting him down instantly. If you dont rate that with perfect I really don't know what you would call perfect instead. Police is often condemned for their brutality towards criminals, so its nice to see the opposite.

Tasers are not as effective as people think. Some people have a higher tolerance than others and sometimes there isn't a good circuit or sometimes it fails to even get a circuit at all.
TheBiggestOfPops drugs usually do not effect the taser. He could of had an "immunity" of sorts against it or maybe the tazer prongs didnt get a good shot. Or didnt make a good circuit

They don’t know his background, he could be unwell mentally-having a breakdown-all sorts. British police focus heavily on de-escalation-it’s the only way everyone comes out in one piece. In this case, why antagonise the situation when dealing with someone who’s clearly already unstable. Yes he attacked, but the police are always trying to figure out the “why?”. If he suddenly has a lapse and realises what he’s done, he could try and harm himself. It’s all about de-escalation, showing compassion, empathy and understanding for situations of those we do not know. Even if just for the moment to subdue a suspect, that bit of empathy and calmness can be the difference between a live suspect and a dead one. A life is a life.

By the looks of it, it's quite likely that the man is either intoxicated or mentally unstable. He was pointing those knives at himself several times to the point where he even cut his shirt, maybe even slightly cut himself. And that crying might have been a reaction to teaser, I think, as it is quite painful. Though one would need some further info on this case to fully determine what happened there. I don't think that he played innocent here

I am all for using a gun in scenarios like this. The cop was literally defending himself against stabs with bare hands. Imagine the taser did not work (as they often don't), at least one cop might have been dead in that scene. This is absolutely unacceptable.

First of all, that "professionalism" in that situation depended solely on the taser working. Some studies found out that in up to 40% of the cases, tasers did not function properly or did not work at all. Go figure.
Second, area of the body covered by the vest is not the only place where the cop can be attacked, obviously. Even severe cuts "just" to his hands can render him pretty much unemployable for the future. Let alone femoral artery, neck, face... So again, go figure.
PS: I am all for heavy regulations on firearms, but not in situations like this.

AFOs (authorised firearms officers) are always on duty; any police car-usually a BMW x5 or Volvo-with a red asterisk printed on it indicates an armed response unit. They can be dispatched at a moment’s notice.
The vast majority of UK officers are not armed due to the principle of policing by consent-the peelian principles. It’s the same model which the US bases its police. The difference in gun control plays a big part.

Alistair Williams it was pretty clear in the video that the guy wasn’t aiming for the neck, plus officers are trained to position their arms towards their center mass. The worst case scenario is the officer would get his arms lacerated while trying to protect his neck

From Dublin myself. Often visit Belfast and its so different up there now. Its a great place and the cops have so so much to deal with in the parts that havnt quite yet gotten over the sectarianism. Definitely not for the faint of heart.
Will be driving from Hollyhead to Cornwall next Friday and then back again the week after. Loaded up one of my all time fave bands, the Manics on USB for the car. I've even 4 Manics tats, and been to Blackwood, the Severn and all before. Beautiful place and wonderful folk.

No matter what this mans condition was, he went to stab that officer and that makes him an absolutely dangerous person who should not ever be on the streets. Respect to the police officers who handled that amazingly well. But that fact remains police aren't there to have people take a pop at them when they feel like it.
Police do a dangerous job protecting people in all kinds of situations. The best sort of training makes them able to fulfill that duty efficiently. Going at people to teach them what they ought not to be doing by firing on them would be standing down from one's command and duty. It would be admitting failure
I dont know the whole story but what i can say is he is in his property "assuming" and not on the street, as long as he doesnt harm anybody including himself and police doesnt have a warrant, he is self defensing and police will get sued for tasing him and the guy will get rich..all of these are assumptions tho

They're trained for up to 3 years to become a taser-qualified police officer in the UK, compared to an apalling 21 weeks in the US. This is supposedly remedied by the fact that US officers are equipped with firearms, but that's the difference. UK officers save lives, not take them. But you wouldn't know that would you? Because you always have to be number one.

Perfectly done from the officers. Really that's not the regular case, they still wanted him to calm down although they could get harmed or killed. But they didnt even get attracted by the violence and kept calm. Showing this much respect to a criminal is unusual. They did honor the police, good job.

Of course the police man safety matters, but this was some professional work. If you have to rate the effort of the police officers it was just perfect, nobody got really injured. So it was referring to their act, nobody said their safety doesn't matter. They saved one life instead of just taking it by shooting him down instantly. If you dont rate that with perfect I really don't know what you would call perfect instead. Police is often condemned for their brutality towards criminals, so its nice to see the opposite.
