When messing around with batteries take care for safety. If a battery gets shorted it can cause dangerous heat at the short point. Batteries can be dangerous for fire and or rupture if not used properly.
How are any of these "life hacks"? Just go to the dollar store if you are that cheap that you can't afford some batteries and will instead use a paperclip. You are going to have to buy batteries at some point in the future so why not?

I have an idea... can you make a variable resistor to manipulate the speed of the electromotor ? ... by making like a series of wire and graphite bits and then move another electrode along it ? this is just a theory... dont know if it work but you get the idea.
