A full preview of the piece as an intro would be helpful.
Unfortunately, archaic copyright rules make that too big of a risk. Wish I could.
Right hand crampin' up here, boss!
Tell me about it 🤣. Keep the hand relaxed, wrist straight and not bent to the side. All problems originate from the neck, so relax those muscles and keep the shoulders down too!
@@pierrejpiscitelli All good now. One beer got me there.
Love You Bro! I've played piano for many, many years (with a weak left hand). Anyways, you're teaching is helping my practice reach a whole new high!!! Thank-You, Thank-You, Thank-You!
Thrilled that it's helpful! Thanks for watching.
Excellent arrangement, clearly communicated, and one of my favorite songs. I can actually play this! So thank you! And I like the screen layout as well.
Thanks for watching!!
Thank you Pierre 🎹 👍
You teach soooo well! Please do some deep cuts!
Wow very clearly taught. Thank you
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Very good lesson! I have a habit of playing octaves even when I probaby shouldn't. When playng "Don't Stop Believin'" I know I'm covering up the bass line but can't help myself.😁
Thanks for watching! Octaves are great at any volume-- they are a texture thing, not always a volume thing.
Hi Pierre, I love your channel: amazing pieces of music, amazing lessons! I also like the way you stick to the original piano parts (and not adding the melody part of the songs like we see so many times on UA-cam, this gets me sick). Just a quick question: my right hand ring finger has difficulties staying up, any recommendations apart from putting a pen between my index and ring fingers laying on the medium 😂.
Thanks so much! Practice scales and Hanon exercises for 10 minutes. Ring and pinky are connected and always move together to an extent, but you can improve finger independence by not avoiding these fingers and doing the above! I’ll make a video about it!
Great, many thanks! I forgot to mention I was really impressed (and learned about your channel) by your performance at the Rick Beato interview 🤩🤯.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
awesome stuff; thx brother...billy joel; chord genius 😎
A bit of trivia, the motorcycle sound at the start of the 'Layla' part was actually bassist Doug Stegmeyer's Corvette. Great lesson, its a shame strictly enforced copyright laws hinder deeper dives into Joel's, the Eagles and other legendary compositions.
Pierre: Could you do some Keith Emerson pieces please?
Keith was my all-time favorite. I don't know how I would do that in a UA-cam video! It would have to be one of the shorter "B sides" from Tarkus or Brain Salad. What did you have in mind?
Thanks. I'd like to put in a request for Summer, Highland Falls. Various contradictory instructional videos all sound a bit wrong to me (maybe because Billy plays it differently in different places and I always prefer live versions to the original studio recording). Thanks again for all your videos. I really love the Miles Davis one, too.
Great suggestion! I have more Billy Joel videos to do and that's only my list! Thanks for watching.
Hey Pierre. Im really enjoying your channel. I played a lot when i was young 12-16, but that was 50 years ago. Just picking it up again now. Your teaching style is great. Thanks for that.
I have a request - perhaps a bit strange - a real oldie - love is blue by Paul Moriat (I think). Anyways, keep up the good work. 😊
I'll check it out! Thanks so much for watching 🙏🏻
cool
My biggest problem is separating my left and right hands. I’ve always struggled with playing any kind of walking bass line and the melody/lead at the same time. My hands always want to sync up!!! Any suggestions for a technique to overcome this???
Thanks for sharing! Your style of teaching is perfect for someone like myself who was never formally taught. I appreciate what you’re doing!!!
Is there a lick between the verse and chorus transition that you left out?
Great tutorial btw
I really like how you take the sections and convey them, assuming that your viewers have sufficient knowledge to catch on and then build the entire songs from the blocks you've gone through.
I'm 110 miles from my piano tonight but I'm looking forward to going through several of your videos tomorrow!
Thank you.
