Dimash is now 27 years old, was trained in Operatic techniques since the age of 5 and hasn't stopped since. So when people say he is 'very young' in his career ( in the context of the age at which an Operatic voice / skill set usually matures) they are not taking into account that he already had 2 Decades of formal training in place.
That's not to say he has nowhere further to develop! Dimash is all about continuous improvement and the pursuit of artistic excellence and you can see this progression over the years, including also over very recent performances. Given that he's absolutely in a league of his own already, other artists might sigh about how or why he should improve on 'perfection'. Dimash competes only with himself.
His training included classical techniques of imperceptible breathing and vocal projection (in traditional performance settings such a large theatres without the use of microphones). His breath control / lung capacity is amazing and he works on developing and maintaining this - very much like an elite athlete, with a regime that includes a lot of swimming.
Dimash grew up in a musical family, and both parents are well known singers. He was up on stage with them from toddlerhood, so the stage is his second home! He parents are very involved in the preservation and promotion of Kazakh culture and music and Dimash has a solid background in traditional Kazakh folklore. You can see this emerging creatively in many of his performances. He plays many instruments and in addition to vocal awards, was winning piano competitions from a very early age. He has been composing music and songs since childhood and more recently has completed post-graduate studies in Composition. The revered Russian Composer & Producer; Igor Krutoy, whom you see here on the piano, came out of semi-retirement to write pieces specifically for the voice of Dimash, he became something of a mentor, and they have now collaborated on a number of pieces and spectacular performances.
Dimash has also studied every genre; from Musical Theatre to Jazz, Blues and Pop etc. He could easily have pursued a classical Operatic career, but has chosen the creative freedom of exploring the cross- fertilization possibilities across all genres. The result, as we observe, is simply astounding. Each and every performance is both a Gift and a Master Class.

If you want to hear another singer who did it in that range was Yma Sumac, who had a range of 9 octaves. She was huge in the 50’s and beyond, known as the Peruvian Princess. She said that she learned how to sing by imitating the bird and animals of the Amazon forest. When you here a add notes to bird whistler range, it is stunning. Her vocal agility is unrivaled. Dimash is the male version of her! He has easily gotten very close to 8 octaves, having managed to reach basso and growl notes. These growl notes sound like Sumac’s, but for her, being female,she necessarily needed to have that wider range.

I know this song from the day of its release. I loved it, admired Dimash's abilities and the beauty of the song. I thought those people in the concert hall are blessed, watching Dimash live. Then I experienced him perform it live myself, in April. Never in my life will I forget that variety of my emotions. I was shocked. It is a different thing to watch genius on a screen. To see Dimash live is kind of a spiritual experience. Igor Krutoy is a famous Ukrainian and Russian music composer, performer, producer and musical promoter. After hearing Dimash sing he came out of retirement in order to collaborate with him.
He has since composed, arranged or rearranged earlier music specifically for Dimash to perform. Krutoy was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize in 1989. He is also "Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation", People's Artist of Russia and People's Artist of Ukraine.

Dimash Qudaibergen (Di-MOSH KOO-die-ber-Ghen) is a phenomenon and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He has been accepted into a program to pursue his PhD in musical composition.
Kudaibergen sings in multiple musical genres. His main genre is classical crossover, but he also sings classical music (bel canto), rap, hip hop, pop, rock, classic, Opera, traditional Kazakh folk, ballad and world music. He uses musical elements, and vocal styles and techniques of many other genres, including jazz, RnB, and musical theater.
His 7.7 octave range (G0 growl-D8 whistle tone) and 2 semitones, meaning he has produced notes found in 7 different octaves, which is beyond comparison. Kudaibergen is well-recognized for his extremely wide and developed vocal range from C2 to C6 to F#6 and, finally, D8. This sequence shows his lowest note sung in vocal fry and chest voice, his highest note hit with his full modal voice, his highest note hit using falsetto, and his highest overall note, hit using the whistle register.
Dimash is one of the best, if not the best, singers on the planet today. He started singing lessons at 5 years old and was later found to have perfect pitch.
Dimash has been on stage since childhood: he sang and played the piano at various venues and competitions throughout his childhood. The young artist was not only a bright performer of famous hits, but also the author of his own songs. He had written seven songs by the age of 24.
He is also known for his use of the whistle register and for singing in full head voice. He is University educated with degrees in classical and opera, as well as contemporary music, pop and jazz and completed a Broadway musical master class. On June 18th, 2020 he completed his masters specializing in composition and received his masters with honours having achieved the maximum score of 100%. He is currently working on his Doctorate in musical composition.
In terms of full notes hit, Dimash has used growls and frys to hit spoken notes around and below C2, some of which may or may not be counted as part of his range. This includes an Eb2, an A1 and an F#1, various other frys around Eb2 and D2, a G#1 and a Bb1. Therefore, if counted, those notes make his range expand to 7 octaves and 10 semitones.
He is humbly dismissive of this astounding fact and stresses that it is not the amount of range you have but in fact how you use it to move people. On top of all this, he embodies every song he sings and always gives 100% for his audience.
He's a genius at mixing genres in a song, a style he himself refers to himself as neo-classic. He has won many prestigious awards.
He speaks Kazakh and Russian, English and some Chinese.
He has performed songs in 14 languages: his native Kazakh, Russian, English, Mandarin, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Serbian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Kyrgyz, Arabic and Japanese.
On May 24th, 2021 Dimash celebrated his 27th birthday. At 22 he was invited as a wild card to participate in I Am a Singer, a Chinese competition show for professional singers. He ultimately placed second because at the time the rules of the show disallowed anyone who wasn't Chinese to take first place. The show catapulted him to relative stardom worldwide and he became a pop superstar in China.
He is also famous in Russia for his neoclassical work with famous Russian/Ukrainian composer and arranger Igor Krutoy who came out of retirement to collaborate with Dimash. Igor has written songs for Dimash and arranged previously composed music specifically for Dimash. He is often at the piano for many of Dimash's performances.
Dimash has since introduced pop songs in Russia as well. He was on a solo world tour when the pandemic struck. There are several full concerts available to watch online. His concerts are usually around 2 ½ hours with an eclectic mix of vocal styles and genres. He was born into a musical family and both of his parents are famous singers and musicians in Kazakhstan, his mother being an operatic soprano.
Although offered a position at the Astana Opera, he decided to carve out his career in contemporary music, mixing classical elements and traditional Kazakh music with pop music.
He gained significant popularity in Kazakhstan and other post-Soviet countries in 2015 upon becoming the Grand Prix winner of Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, Belarus. He rose to fame in China with his participation as a "wildcard competitor" in Hunan TV's Singer 2017 finishing second overall.
Although he works with producers, promoters and music labels in other countries his music is produced and distributed through his own company called Dimashali Creative Center.
Dimash plays seven instruments: piano, drums, guitar, keyboard, dombra (the most popular Kazakh instrument, like a lute), marimba (like a xylophone), and bayan (which is like an accordion).
Dimash is most widely known through his live performances and has released several albums, the first one going platinum in 37 seconds in China and triple platinum in less than an hour.
It has been widely recognized that his high notes are not whistle tones but head voice. Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does it is spectacular.
He has many millions of fans worldwide which he has named his "Dears" He is soft spoken, polite, respectful, elegant and classy, also extremely humble, and possesses a wonderful sometimes self-deprecating sense of humor. This is a magical new classic masterpiece that people are sure to hear in 300 years. Ave Maria (Eng.: Hail Mary) is a prayer and is one of the most commonly said prayers in Christianity. A Muslim and a Jew created a new grandiose masterpiece. It is without words and therefore for all people in this world… so touching.
According to wiki there are 68 Ave Maria settings from 7 eras, now 69. I mean, this song is on the same high level as Schubert's Ave Maria or Vavilovs (Caccini) ... also beyond all spirituality, just wonderful music.

Igor Krutoy (Krutoy means 'Cool', *1954 in Ukraine SSR). He lives and works only in Moscow- Russia always. He is singer, a world- famous composer and music titan in Russia (billionaire). His family is in the US now. Krutoy came out of retirement to write songs for Dimash. The maestro and Dimash have been working together from time to time since 2018. They are friends and have a father-son relationship.

This thought from Igor and Dimash was really special. Neither gentlemen have Virgin Mary in their religious faiths. Ave Maria written by Shubert in the 1800’s and sung in the catholic cathedrals. But arias in opera the singer is allowed to fit the song t their interpretation who knows in Dimashs life around opera if his dears had ask him to sing it? By the way catholic means universal. The premiere of "Ave Maria", as well as the song "Stranger" took place at the international competition "New Wave" - 2021 (Sochi, Russia). The vocalization of "Ave Maria" by Igor Krutoy (author for 🎹), written for Dimash, was definitely not based on the theme of Schubert, Bach/Gounod. To a greater extent, it resembles the vocalization of "Ave Maria", written by Vladimir Vavilov in 1970 under the name of the little-known Italian composer Giulio Caccini (1551-1618). He performed in a guitar duet, recorded two records "Lute music of the XVI-XVII centuries". A little later, experts proved the authorship of Vavilov (1925-1973, Leningrad, USSR), a professional in the field of lute music. The composition of maestro Krutoy has more structural similarities with his "Ave Maria", which sounds amazing. The maestro Krutoy has written many songs for Dimash and sees the singer in the genre of "crossover", and not the king of pop music or opera. If I'm not mistaken, this “Ave Maria” by composer and conductor Igor Krutoy is a work in vocalize format, completely unpublished, although it seems to be a variation of the initial theme (not the introduction but the singing part) of the melody by Schubert adapted to Dimash's voice in order to explore just as three initial notes and changing the fourth note to a higher note (From B4, A4 D #4 C #4 and B4 to G #4, G4, G4, D #5): Like a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (from dark to light)! It also seems to refer to the Russian V. Vavilov's version of "Ave Maria" (wrongly credited to Caccine) and work by JS Bach - Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, with arrangements by Gounod, which Maetro Igor Krutoy has a predilection for!
Hello Todd. "I'm familiar with the song..." famous last words before realising that one doesn't know the song 😄. As others have already told in the comments, it's a new song composed by Igor Krutoy ("the piano player"). Dimash had asked if Igor could compose a song like Ave Maria for him, and Igor did. There are no words, which is why the message/plead/prayer can be understood and felt regardless of language, religion, ethnic background etc. And you were right: Igor and Dimash have collaborated from time to time since 2018, when Igor found out about the incredible vocal ability of Dimash. Always when you see Igor behind the piano accompaning Dimash, it's his composition. Igor sais he found new inspiration in his own musical creativity and both have benefited greatly from this "dynamic duo". Dimash knew of him already as a child and dreamed about performing with him and Dimash's other great role model Lara Fabian on stage. It did sound a bit different but still has some melody like the original Ave Maria. It sounded like a rework of the original and not like a completely new work to me but beyond that absolutely amazing performance all around, especially Dimash. There is few i could think of.
His problem is his control over his. Range like that is common to many singers. Some hit like A10.
Sure he can do that too.
But he is actually SINGS in each of his ranges. And blends seamlessly.

His tone, his styles, his range , his style, his breathing, his power, etc etc. Furthermore his gesture, clothes, movement, even shape of month. Anything you name it. So much good stuff in one body called Dimash. .
From "what we've already listened", 7,7 octaves. Nobody else sings like that. Maybe some can reach those notes, but no one with such a power on high or law notes.

Hi Todd. Rush, huh? I'm pretty sure Dimash hasn't gone progressive rock yet! Still, great art is great art, so I think you can't fail to love at least some aspects of the following two songs, and you can perhaps comment if you see any elements you'd say are bona fide rock and ask Dears (Dimash fans) if they can point you to any more like it:
* Golden. MV at ua-cam.com/video/Ahwm4J6UQxg/v-deo.html Opener for a recent tour. Imo the video story is cliche but I still think it would be a great video for you to react to.
* Across Endless Dimensions at ua-cam.com/video/9efIWFhD8a4/v-deo.html MV of song that played over the credits at the end of the 2020 movie Creators: The Past (which died badly despite this brilliant song which btw has a great creation story). Visually the MV splices movie footage with Dimash. Aurally it's classic rock guitar from halfway in. Can you name the brand of the rock guitar that Dimash plays using his mouth for the closing lick? It's not Hendrix but then again nothing will ever again be Hendrix.
I also think it's worth you sampling him using some more of his lower registers. I'll suggest two for that as well:
* Olimpico. It ends high but is built atop a very solid lower register power base. Go with either his live concert at ua-cam.com/video/dkPS6t84qg4/v-deo.html (remember to set it up at the start so it auto-translates to English) or his Digital Dimash version at ua-cam.com/video/TLOVgO8cvx0/v-deo.html. The song is about knowing that the world wants you to feel and be powerful enough to bring out your best. (Though written specifically for Dimash, with timeless lyrics, it was commissioned for the opening of a recent Europe Olympics.) The live concert one is Dimash embodying himself being powerful in an actual live concert in a vast stadium show with him as an utterly compelling center piece encouraging us all to be our best. It's akin to a rock opera piece where the opera involves real opera singing. The Digital Dimash version is meta, starting with him facing the "challenge" of performing for an audience that's chanting his name -- but isn't actually there because covid is in the rampage (hence Digital Dimash). He *still* utterly knocks it out the park. It's very much worth reacting to both, perhaps in the same reaction video, in which case I recommend you watch the live concert first and then wrap with the Digital Dimash version.
* The Diva Dance. Dimash doing covers of The Diva Dance (from The Fifth Element movie). This is of course mostly *high* notes but he also does what I think is called a vocal fry as part of going octaves lower than the lowest the singer goes in the Fifth Element, much lower I think than Dimash goes in Stranger or Olimpico. Two versions are worth checking out. There's a short and sharp 2 minute version that'll work great if you just want to focus on The Diva Dance: ua-cam.com/video/o5zMupUOgQo/v-deo.html Or there's what I think was his first big public performance of it in the same Chinese singing competition show that brought him to worldwide notice in 2017 with his SOS performance that kicked that season of. More generally, I think you can't go wrong reacting to his official MVs. Whatever you pick, I look forward to your Dimash reactions and will sample some of your bazillion others!
No one....and I mean no one can sing as Dimash can. You would need to combine at least 3-4 highly skilled vocalists with different vocal ranges to be able to sing CLOSEST to Dimash. Closest, but still not as good because it takes more than mere wide vocal ranges to sing as good as Dimash.
