Man I tell you I'm 21 years old and I listen to what I call great music as far as jazz, R&B, Soul, Gospel, Country even classical and I tell you she's the greatest AND she only sang one genre of music (Gospel) and she's my favorite singer then there's everyone else no questions Asked! Also, I read her biography, seen all her intervews, listened to all her music, and it seems like her soul was spotless as if she was an angel from GOD Listen to that VOICE

I think CBS Records was trying to bring out her “jazz” flavor in her 1954-1957 sets/albums. After Irv Townsend became her produce she became more of a pop-gospel artist. So her 1950s recordings her singing is very “pretty” and smooth.
