I loved this album. Definitely such a sonic trailblazer in terms of introducing new sounds and production to the mainstream. I appreciate artists that push the boundaries and I see Finneas and Billie as two collaborators and siblings who achieve that.
I think “I can’t afford to love someone who isn’t dying by mistake” is a clever way of saying don’t try to make me fall for you and then go self-destruct.
Yes! In this instance the double negative was clear to me in the new album I spent a good few minutes trying to decipher what she means when she sings “I know I said I’d never think I wasn’t better alone” … as in, I know I said I’ll always think I’m better alone” and then following up with the “but” etc. right? 😅
“I don’t get it, so I don’t like it” 😐😑 maybe do some research about a song if you don’t get it so that you do get it and then you can like it or not like it for the actual content of the song. Just a thought lol
in Xanny, answering your q, I think she meant people who take drugs and such are choosing to ruin their body/mind aka dying intentionally. with intent. rather than by mistake, like accidents and such. this is not about accidental overdose. but actual choosing to dabble in these things. so she can't afford to have her heart broken if she gets involved with people who has substance abuse tendencies.
right exactly, and i would even say we are dying by mistake each and every day we wake up because we inevitably inch closer to death each day. so it is like we are dying by mistake as our bodies start to reach their end day by day. love you comment!!
still my favorite billie album, but the new one is a close second for sure. it's just that wwafa is such a cohesive and creative project from the first to the last one track. to me that's a classic. impressive how billie and finneas put this album together by temselves at such a young age
Jacob, you're closer in age to 22 yr. old Billie [B.D. 12/18/2001] and 26 yr old Finneas [B.D. 7/30/1997] - WWAFA was released by 17 yr. Billie and 21 yr. old Finneas. "Listen Before I Go" was first sung on stage by 15 yr. old Billie. 15 yr. old Billie also wrote (with Finneas) the phenomenal "idontwannabeyouanymore" [see either the official Vertical Video or the COLORS SHOW performances]; these songs have a context - you not understanding them is bound to affect your ranking of them - I guess - but I believe you underrated them. Imagination, metaphor, rhyming all count for something - they wrote YOU SHOULD SEE ME IN A CROWN after watching an episode of the British SHERLOCK where MORIARTY says "And Honey, you should see me in a crown" - that's the inspiration - do you know what an "ANACOLUTHON" - it's a word describing an unexpected discontinuity in the flow of ideas in a sentence - Billie isn't/wasn't a learned poet, she has Tourettes, she's inspired by what she sees - it doesn't have to be logical or rational. "All the good girls" is inspired by climate change - the tone is upbeat, it isn't dreary - she laughs at the end and the reference to SNOWFLAKE [I thought it must be a pet cat] but she was trying to knit a SNOWFLAKE and having trouble doing it and that expression of her knitting frustration was thrown in. In "Bury A Friend" - she recorded her Dentist's drill shaving off her INVISALIGN and put it in the song; In "BAD GUY" the cross walk in Australia {Sidney or Melbourne) fascinated her and it's in the song. THERE IS NOTHING ELSE LIKE WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO - Apple Music ranked it # 30 in their list of 100 greatest albums - I'm 70 - I have Bob Dylan, Mozart's Requiem, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Schubert's Winterreise. Leonard Cohen et. al. "HIT ME HARD AND SOFT" is also a classic, but it isn't in competition with 17 yr. old Billie. P.S. Finneas wanted to name baby sister "Pirate" so she got the middle name; Billie is after her grandfather "William Barid {d. February 2001}; "Eilish" was inspired by Katie & Eilish Holton - conjoined twins born in Ireland on August 24, 1988 - after surgery to separate them, Katie died (April 4, 1992) - this inspiration for Billie's name is in this article: ROLLING STONE: Josh Eells, July 31, 2019 "Billie Eilish and the Triumph of the Weird".
they're both great, iconic and timeless pieces of art. is really not about quality, but about preference. I imagine the voters had a very difficult time voting between the two, but billie deserved those grammys + she did have the biggest campain... I do think that it was unfair for lana to walk out empty handed tho, just like this year. is way overdue by now

You were so lost the entire video...
It’s good, but it’s not NFR good. The Grammys got it wrong again.
NFR! is one of my favorite albums, it really is excellent! I'm happy Billie received so much love for her debut though!
