Play dough is stored in airtight containers in the refrigerator between uses. I tend to make a new batch every 2 weeks, but I have had some "back-up" batches that I had on hand "just in case" last for a year in the fridge.
I use the same recipe except instead of doing it on the stove we put water, coloring, and oil (in that order) into a microwaveable cup and microwave it for about 4min. Then pour it over the dry ingredients. Mix with a metal spoon then kneed till cool. Use two pairs of gloves because dough is hot.
My must haves include rolling pins, plastic cutters, playdo extruders, tiny plastic custard cups, real birthday candles, sticks, flat marbles, and a real wood tortilla press.
