It's a Christmas movie. The reason I believe this is because it deals with Jack wanting something new, and he finds it -in the form of Christmas Town- which he then takes over and becomes that holiday's mascot -Santa Claus- for a night. He then realizes that he's not meant to be the mascot of this holiday and relinquishes the title to previous owner Santa Claus.
