Too bad TP-Link didn't change the model number. Ordering from Amazon received ER605 v1.6 and later discovered a v2.0. I ordered an ER605 v2.0, as depicted on eBay but received a v1.6. Contacting that supplier, they indicated they did have v2.6 but were unaware they were shipping the v1.6. Many retail outlets do not disclose the hardware version. There is a physical difference between v1.6 and v2.0, which is evident from the advertising photos.
I know this video is a few months old now, but have you had a chance to open the units and see how v1 and v2 compare to each other with regard to their chipset?
Btw could you do a test or video on testing vlans traffic? I dived into it more and im still having issues where if i block any vlan. I block both ways between those vlans.
@@SPXLabs oh okay thank you so much for your response, so one more question can we use Wi-Fi extender with ethernet port to connect to this VAN via accessing local wifi internet??
Hi, i have a question, with TP-Link ER605 v2 can i have 4 different openvpn connection? let me explain .... i want something like this .... ISP Modem -> TP-Link ER605 V2 -> each LAN output with a different Public IP. Can be done? if so I would be in dire need of help. Thank you very much.
Awesome Video Stephan!
Short and sweet! Thanks!
I know he talks a little funny sometimes but it is totally Stefano lol.

It's pretty good so far.
So can I use a LTE modem with Ethernet as a failover on V2 or does it have to be a USB dongle?
On v1 you can also use lte/5g backup over ethernet. On v2 you have a USB port for a thumb modem I guess
I am kinda sad I got the V1... I don't NEED the v2, but I would have liked the USB port, not that I would ever use it... But I want it!
They have the same features and operate identically as far as I can tell. You really aren’t missing out unless you want that 4g connection

I want a 4g connection as well 😅
ER605 V2 Where can I get this NEWER V2 model (with USB) now!

Yeah that really does suck. It feels like a gamble no matter where you shop from.
Great video! Between the ER605 v2 and ER7206, which would you prefer?
For home use the ER605 is perfect
@@SPXLabs great! Thank you for the reply. That settles my mind.

I haven’t done that yet. In retrospective I wish I did. Maybe I will get around to making a short video doing it so everyone can have a look
I wish they would offer 2.5 GbE :/ what about software especially security updates?
Why don't you do a comparison on ER605 vs ER7206?
If I had one I would
I want to see that comparison too.
I'm sure there are hardware spec changes in V2, I think DRAM size is increased.
Oh wow they finally dropped the v2!
It could be awesome. I want to get a mobile usb but ATT and Verizon make the information about it difficult. grr

Yeah sorry I know I owe you that info. Extremely busy at the moment but I will make time
You got a business and youtube page to run bro, i just appreciate the reponse back! Love your channel
And a full time job and a family and I just got back from a trip lol. Ugh.
Thanks dude. You’ve been watching and commenting for a long while now
Well done! I'm curious IF the higher power uptake for V.2 means faster chips inside and higher throughput?
The specs for the V.2 are much better than the 'older' versions -more speed, more memory - there is an even newer V2.6 now
@@jfkastner Where have you found a v2.6 of this unit? Thanks!
Do either the V1 or V2 Routers support a Link Aggregation pair on the LAN side ?
I've heard no one mention that. I would bet you will need to move up to multi-gig hardware, which is more expensive, of course.
Hi! Can we access Wifi using WiFi dongle and connecting that WiFi dongle in V2's USB port??
I don’t believe so. That port is really only for USB LTE/3G/4G modems
@@SPXLabs oh okay thank you so much for your response, so one more question can we use Wi-Fi extender with ethernet port to connect to this VAN via accessing local wifi internet??
What is the max bandwidth supported ?
1Gbps
Can the ER605 handle 1gb up/down fiber?
With IDS, no vpn, and the most basic configuration. Yes. But the more features you enable the less likely you will hit 1Gbps consistently
Great review. Still looking for v2. Amazon still shows v1.6 and no sign of or answers on version 2. Hopefully soon. Again thanks for the review.
Should be any day now. Release schedule is May for many of their things
Is this work on Public ip ?
It should yes
Do you know where can I get the V2 in the US?
Rumor has it Amazon. Sellers allegedly haven’t updated the pictures. Maybe B&H also.
Yikes. Well maybe one day!
Where did you even get the v2?
TP link sent it to me
I just ordered from Amazon and received the V2
DDNS? That changed
I'm unable to get output from my ER605 v2 please help
What does that even mean? Hit up TPLINK support. It’s free if you are under warranty
@@SPXLabs It's not detecting internet through my ISP it shows link down with no IP address
Sorry not enough information to help. Either contact your ISP for help and/or contact tplink.
v2 change cpu?
Possibly but without removing the heat sink I’m not confident enough to say for certain
Lets connect it to my Untangle box :) then re-do it and do a video together !!
That would be awesome!
