    01 wheres captain kirk
    In August 1977 a weird and wonderful improvisational musician crashed onto the UK punk scene. Going by the name Spizz, it wasn't long before he was touring as Spizz Oil, releasing two Eps, 6000 Crazy and Cold City, which topped the indie charts in 1978. In 1979 they recorded the legendary Soldier Soldier and the punk classic Where's Captain Kirk? ensuring the newly christened Spizz Energi a place in the punk rock hall of fame. Spizz continued to record and tour under various monikers (Athletico Spizz 80, Spizzsexual, Spizzvision etc.) eventually reuniting as Spizzenergi for the Holidays In the Sun Concert in Blackpool, August 1996.
    This film features their performance from that historic weekend and has a wealth of previously unreleased footage. All the old favourites are here in a show that re-energised both the performers and the fans. Also included is a clip of Where's Captain Kirk from 1986, four tracks from their anniversary show-reel tape filmed in 2004 and a recent interview with the man himself. Beam me up Scotty!

    The only interesting teacher in my entire school career was my English teacher, Mrs. Little. She was also a religion teacher, I am confirmed atheist and she was a practising Quaker. Still, she introduced me to Shakespeare and her son was in this band. She was the only teacher I remember with any amount of affection, at all.

      Lol, I tuned in to peel’s late show one night and by chance this came on.
      I was just getting into drumming and at this stage just had sticks. Drumming along on my knees, I remember thinking that’s a really fast 4/4. Too fast for me!
      Eventually I got it but playing it again now it’s still pretty dam’d fast !!

      @UKAlanR 8 років тому +3

      +Clive B This looks like a montage of various stage performances. The only other member of 1979 Spizz Energi visible here is Pete Petrol, seen very briefly to the right of Spizz (as viewed) at 0:48. Where that section of the stage is visible later there is at least one other guitarist. While the use of a similar camera position make it look like this video is of one performance, it is certainly made up of many takes - the variety of band members suggests the footage spanned some length of time, or they spliced in archive footage such as that of Petrol (who, incidentally didn't play in the band by the time the single was recorded/released, but had I believe had co-written it).

      @@UKAlanR I was thinking this, I saw Spizz at the Marquee sometime mid-80s. The support act was a performance art duo who did a very long version of "Mellow Yellow" and Spizz had to come out and defend them from the abuse they were getting from an impatient audience. Memory not good enough to recall if this includes footage from that gig, although the shoulder epaulette things on his outfit ring a vague bell.
