Very blessed David. We get plenty of Lorikeets in our backyard in Victoria, but nothing as fascinating as bower birds. We have to head up into the Wombat Forest for that.
The Satin Bower bird is probably one of my favourite Aussie birds. I'm not likely to see one in the wild in inner urban Melbourne, but I have seen a number of Tawney Frogmouths, probably thanks to having the Yarra River green wedge close by. I do enjoy the variety in your videos, keep them coming.
hey dave! I didn't realise you live in the mountains, so do i! I live in winmalee, so not a whole lot of space for a workshop, especially considering the fact that i live in a densely populated street. Ive only got a small ryobi bandsaw, ryobi mitre saw, homemade wood lathe and a hitachi cordless drill. these tools get the work done, but I'm looking at buying some nice tools from carbatec. maybe a cheap table saw and disc/belt sander.
Hello darling how beautifully you talk about the birds and the birds parrot because the beauty of nature that are required of us in order to unplug our lives Tquby Thank you for the wonderful darling Aaptsamtk
Sorry to hear that Blake! You probably have too many cats in the area. Very rare to see a cat near my home and Barry isn't interested in chasing birds so the birds tend to hang around here a lot.
i graduated with a degree in Biology and you don't have to be a biologist to appreciate the wonders in nature. Enjoy your place called earth and lets all nurture it.
I’ve a question for you.... Would you like to build an aviary, with me...using your skills; for my pair of Satin Birds.....I’m an hour away... It would make a great video....! Regards Christopher
Thanks for the offer Christopher but I am having a hard time keeping up with the chores on my own property. Also, I do not believe in keeping birds in aviaries.
Australia has such beautiful gems including the parrots having a nice meal beside you.
It's so cool that you managed to attract such lovely wild birds. They're just calmly eating while you're filming. Awesome.
This little bird nearly eats out of my hands.
***** They must be so used to you by now. :D
Great close up shots. I remember seeing this little guy on one of David Attenborough's bird shows.
Thanks! Love David Attenborough.
This is just wonderful! It's hilarious that he steals food from Barry. You got some good footage of this camera-shy bird. Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks Caryl. It took 3 days to get the footage.

There is not a day that I don't feel amazed at the beauty of where I live.

Silent on the wing. The tawny frogmouth's startle me a night as they just glide without a sound.
