    Thanks for this comprehensive information, Anna! The music education system in Venezuela was very similar back in my days, incl. the state sponsored tuition; only we didn't have that diversity of school levels and options, it was Music School throughout. (Many things changed in the last 20-25 years, tough). But Russia's study program is *much* more intensive an rigorous, and now I know why so many outstanding pianists & instruments players come from there!

    Thank you so much for this insight. Can you discuss the different famous Russian conservatories and how they differ? I think it would be a great cultural experience for my sons to take half a year to a year to go to school in Russia. They are home schooled. Your piano instructional videos have been very helpful!

    Thank you for this detailed explanation! It’s great to see how much focus it is being put on performing. I also liked to hear that there is also a focus on other aspects of playing such as theory, aural, music education, etc. All of those are extremely important

    Happy New Year!! The Russian/post-Soviet music education system sounds every bit as rigorous as I've previously heard. This is the most detailed description I've ever gotten of how it works. My classical piano teacher told me of the existence of a Russian school of piano technique. There's also a UA-cam channel called PianoCareer, where another Russian pianist makes videos about how certain aspects of playing are taught in Russia. A lot of the techniques seem quite beneficial to prevent strain, and to maximize power, speed, and expressive ability. Any thoughts on this?

      DrQuizzler it really depends on your teacher! There are definitely a lot of teachers in Russia that appreciate such qualities but luckily, not all of them. Great topic for a future video!

    Thank you Anna, for the detailed description of the Russian Music Education System!
    I always wondered how the high level of musicians from the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe is achieved.
    Two lessons a week, a strict curriculum and exams, a lot of possibilities to perform, and the Music College as an early step into the professional world make the difference!

      Stefan Bötel two lessons at least, in fact talented kids get sometimes up to 5-6 lessons per week...

    Happy new year Anna! Music education system in Russia sound like a long hard road for sure, it is interesting how 17 years old kids are already considered to be at teaching level, it makes sense that at least in the technical level if they started at 4 or 5 years old they have accumulated 10+ years of experience 😱

    Thank you Anna for a very clear, detailed and fascinating presentation on music education in Russia. I learned a lot! It’s an impressive music school system that gives impressive results. Why do you think music schools decreased from 2010-2015?
    In the USA, Doctorate music degree is a research degree. If someone wants performance, or music education, degree it is usually done at Bachelor or Masters degree. Some private universities even have music degree for church musician career. Just like Bach! It’s so interesting to learn how different countries approach music education. Thank you again for educating us!

      John Corban thank you, dear John! I believe the system is changing a lot these day. But honestly, I didn’t find any reliable information why the amount of music schools decreased so dramatically in the past years...

    Just a tiny disclaimer: I think the title is not 100% correct, it should be „What does it look like“ and not How.

    Hi! I have a question: here in Mexico music professors says something like this: you can only play ONE instrument. It is true? I’m wasting my time practicing both piano and guitar? Or they’re wrong?
    Happy new year señorita! ^^

    • @AnnaKhomichkoPianist
      @AnnaKhomichkoPianist  4 роки тому +1

      Manfredo is On NO! Absolutely not true, at least to my opinion and experience. If you have time to practice both instruments - it’s amazing to be able to play well a few instruments
