      Maybe one of these days, videos like this that use 3D animations shown on a 2D screen will be viewable in 3D on a stereoscopic viewer ! Not necessarily viewable from any angle the viewer wants to see but from angles the presenter (Eugene, etc.) would like the viewer to see for best explanation.

      @@k7iq its very simply to produce 2d screen out of this and 'see' this in 3d if you have 3d glasses or can do the cross-eye method on 2 images

    I have literally been trying to understand this relationship for years because as you said, it’s counterintuitive when you look at Maxwell-Heaviside equations.

    It is useful to note that the presence of nonzero curl is not necessarily related to the presence of vortices (curved lines) in the vector field. Moreover, a vector field with vortices can have a zero curl.

    The first time I realized, that curl phase-locks E and B. Also nice to see how two waves interfere and how circular polarization comes from shifted waves.
    So this video could act as a foundation to go further, as there are open questions. One is: How can the wave be expended in space, as curl is only locally defined and: while linearly polarized waves pack energy in space, circular polarized waves show constant energy density. And: when the electromagnetic field oscillates locally (at the antenna) E and B are out of phase. So there has to be a phase shift to radiate waves. This principle of localized energy: out of phase, moving energy: in phase, seems to hold in general.

    To be honest, while I was looking at a representation of a photon, I thought "If one is creating the other, how are they both simultaneously at peak and at zero?", but I didn't think about it again until this video, but now it makes so much sense. Thank you a lot for this helpful video!

    Wow, beautifully done. I needed to produce 5 video's covering the math basics and each equation taking ~3 hours in total. Then I added another half hour to derive the electromagnetic wave itself but completely missed the phase syncing which is a nice addition. Thank you for sharing.

    I can't come to terms with how ridiculous is the expectation that students could understand how EM waves work, by having them look at static pictures on a textbook. I did that, 25 years ago, and I always had this feeling like "ok but... this does not make complete sense". Especially the curl operator, I basically had no idea of what it really meant until now. I am also wondering whether even my physics teachers really knew what they were talking about. Thanks Eugene for these videos, this is gold.
