"patience is a virtue" is what it would be in English, my Czech friend. your videos are a fantastic resource and you're doing your country proud. love from the UK 🇬🇧
Patience is a virtue
Virtue is a grace
Grace was a little girl
who never washed her face
There's also no reason you can't say the direct translation. It's pretty clear on what it means.
As a romanian seeing romanian scamers just makes me so ashamed but at the same time im so happy that they are put on the internet. Shame on them !
I loved Romania when I visited, only saw Bucharest though. So much constant improvement and business going on and active young people accessing loads of opportunities, in a decade or so I will be surprised if its not rivalling other world cities. Incredible coffee shops on every corner was a nice bonus.
we all know how it is - they are mere Romanian residents with indo-aryan (yes - this is a real term) origin.
@@Hortifox_the_gardener oh come on not the rromani stereotipe, still romanians
The trick is to stay on the man 24/7 for a week, it would take a long sting to build the amount you need for a decent prosecution.
Trick is not to visit, and be vocal why. Until the authorities get the message and deal with it effectively.
But then 50 other scammers will go around stealing while he stays on one guy
local police just getting good money from scammers , there is no other explanation . This is just what we can see the upper part of iceberg
When the crooks are in power and making laws they make sure that laws protects the scammers from small to big ones...
Here's an idea: Print out a multilingual warning about the money changing scammers along with a QR code pointing to your channel. Put them in cheap frames and give them out to any Airbnb owners who would be willing to hang them up in their rentals.
This could get you sued for diffamation. Even if the accusations stand correctly.
@@TheAy17 If you do it the right way it absolutely cannot.
You just need to focus on the scam, not on the scammers.
You don't need to say "THIS GUY IS A SCAMMER", just "don't exchange money on the street, you'll get scammed" and then proceed to point to places that are actually safe to exchange money.
@@whodatninja439 I was thinking that HG could do it himself and that the traffic driven to the channel might offset the cost of making and distributing the signs.
Then again, I've never run a YT channel so I have no idea whether it would be worth it in the long run. I'm just the idea guy. 🤷
I read it! You seem to be the only people working to stop these guys, and honestly you have shown more success than the cops through not only confronting, but also thorough educating tourists visiting.
I've been watching your videos for ages just for fun and before I knew it, I'm in prague and had the knowledge I needed. Thank you for educating everyone!
Long time viewer; first time comment. Patience is a virtue is our saying in Kentucky. While I'm here I'll share that you guys and your work was truly helpful and so delightful on my 2019/2020 trip to Prague.
At this point where the state is failing to do anything I would honestly be OK with someone just grabbing the guy and getting him tarred and feathered...
please never stop what you are doing! i love prague! and we love you! true hero. ❤
On behalf of all honest people of Bulgaria I'd like to apologize to the tourists that have been scammed by some of our compatriots. Great job, Janek! Sooner or later you will get him. Czechia unlike BG has a working judiciary system, patience :)
There are also Romanians there. It is so sad to see it. As a Romanian myself I am ashamed, but at the same time I hope people will learn to protect themselves and stop giving money to beggars.
They're no longer confrontational, since they know they're safe. Looks like you guys have developed an easy "friendship" :)
Plot twist, Janek became the Godfather in Prague and all scammers give him a tribute when he approaches them pretending to stop them 😂
Díky za to co pro naší krásnou Prahu děláte!! Jednou tuhle verbeš vymýtíme
This is like pickpockets in Barcelona, the cops don't care unless it's over e400. Ridiculous.
i follow you'r content for quite some time and i love it lots of love from Croatia
You guys are doing an amazing job! You are brave and uncompromising individuals that the world needs more of. Thank you for your relentless dedication in exposing scammers and frauds. Keep up the fantastic work!
Why do people need cash if everywhere you can pay with a bank card?
Thank you for being faithful to this issue!
You guys ROCK! I cannot wait to revisit Prague and look for and film these crooks! ~Cara 😊
Really Great work guys. I wait every Sunday to watch your videos. Apparently the police is the scammer and I think they get some profit.
Yes, I did notice your little subs :) Keep doin´your great work!
You know why police keep letting him go....Because he's become a tourist attraction, he's that well known for scamming people🤣
Keep it going you are doing a nice job :D
COMING TO PRAUGE THIS THURSDAY!!!! Not going to be exchanging anything with anyone. Thank you Honest Guide. If I see you guys around the city, I'll buy you a beer! Nas Zdravi
As an online money scammer this is a good news. Good video as usual Janek.
Met one of them in front of the entrance of Florenc Metro station, he tried to scam me while I was getting money from the ATM - when I told him it's a scam and fake money he left but then came back to show me that he had real crowns :D Tried to check if police were around by any chance but they weren't
Děkuji že děláte co děláte. ❤Zákony by se měli hodně změnit a to tak aby takoví lidé nemohli okrádat chudáky turisty. Před mnoha lety dokonce okradli bývalého tchána kdy mu prodali falešný zlatý prsten.
Of course I read it! 🙂
And yeah, this is a problem in many countries in Europe - laws (and especially punishments) seem to be protecting the criminals more than the victims...
I've been waiting for this moment . . .
I suspect cops have a fair share in the business otherwise how could a few crooks can survive for so long.
I always read the small print - Prague is one of my most favourite places. I'm lucky to have an office there but also get to spend time in the town for holidays.
In Prague now and have watched your video for months before coming. Felt like I had the upper hand on things like the ATMs and decline conversion etc.
Thanks for your help with all your to tips.
I also noticed the fence by Charles Bridge is getting more padlocks since you guys cut them off. We walked from grand bohemia to Prague castle this morning at 5 am.. Was nice to be out when nobody else was. Tomorrow will go to petrin.
I also remember you showing the smaller amounts in the atm withdraws vs the large ones they show.. Choose more.. Good tip to show smaller amounts.
Honestly it's depressing to watch - time after time they get away with this. Maybe they should hire these scammers as police because they seem to be more effective at their profession.
English has a few idioms with that meaning:
"Patience is a virtue."
"Good things come to those who wait."
"Rome wasn't built in a day."
I love this Channel
To read the fine print I had to play it at 0.5x and it sounded like you were extremely drunk 🤣🤣🤣
I see it the little caption down there " police do something but it's just not enough" 😂😂
I can't understand why anyone would trust a guy on a street exchanging money...
Another great episode, too bad the movey scammers are mostly untouchable. I am sure that your channel has saved a lot of views from becoming victims of scams. Maybe you can make a recap video of all the scams you have seen?
Thank you for the word dry enjoyed that
a question that arises to me about the exchange places, they probably know about this or at the very least see shady people around their door. Thinking "selfishly" it is taking away from *their* (scaming) business (you know, about super bad exchanges rates), and I wonder why they don't put signs to prevent people from falling for this or from entering their exchange... A sign such as "beware exchange scammers in closed hours" or "beware fake money scammers at the door"
Great job as always, thank you. Personally, however, I will probably never understand how tourists trust complete strangers on the street and change money.
Love your videos exposing the money scammers. I'm from the USA, Texas to be exact. You mention that the money is expired. Doesn't the government put it out of circulation? Where do the scammers get expired money? Do they buy it in the black market? I think the government is to blame here regarding the expired money on how they dispose of it and not handing down steeper penalties on people that are actually robbing you in broad daylight. Thank you and keep those videos coming.
Jeep up the good work! And stay safe guys!
And there's a similar English saying, might be from the author John Milton? "Good things come to those who wait"
It was do fun to find it! I saw something flashing and I immediately search for what it is!
Patience is a virtue
vy ste kluci stejne borci..👍💪
Took me like 6-7 attempts, but got to read those disclajmers 😂😂
Kluci, mnohokrat jsem potkal tyto pany a mnohem vic na benzince u prazskeho letiste..Pokazde to vypadalo, ze tam maji meeting ohledne neceho...Snad Vam to nejak pomuze! drzim palce!
The key question that is not mentioned in the repetitive video about these scammer is :
How could you explain the total inaction of the Prague police? The police have to power to totally stop these scammers!
In my opinion there is something very fishy!
It took me going frame frame for a couple minutes but, I did get your subliminal messages. The font size is good. Thanks! Greetings from Missouri🇺🇸 P.S. We say Patience is a Virtue. I have never heard patience brings roses before. I get it though.
You are a true hero
the only thing surprises me more than the useless city/police regulations on the subject, is that in the year of 2023 (or 2022, 2021, 2020...) these tourists - in which i believe a good percentage have college degrees, access to information and whatnot - still choose to engage in money exchange in the streets with random, very questionable people as if they scored a great deal...you get what you deserve!
People shouldn't have to worry about gypsie because there shouldn't be any
Been researching family tree and might have ancestors who were of Czech descent. I bumped into this probably because of this and I am glad. Not because I'll be there soon but knowing that there are good people who do this.
Disgusting that the police and city only give them a gentle reminder rather than actually putting criminals like this in jail.
This probably isn't a huge issue because of bank cards or credit cards. But those who like using cash will definitely be hurt
Trpělivost růže přináší.
This can be translated as "Patience wears away stones." or maybe "With time and patience the leaf of the mulberry becomes satin."
I love this Channel it's so entertaining. Have you done a report on strip club rip offs like K9, Janek?
Good things come to those who wait. That is the saying. Of course, we also say "He who hesitates is lost" so take your pick! 🙂
Stefan makes Romania proud
same with Bulgarian gypsies being our great ambassadors all throughout Europe, but what can you do?
Eu cred că nu!
Țiganul n-are nație, țiganul e țigan! Fură, înșeală, n-au muncit niciodată, n-au plătit taxe, nu vor să se integreze niciunde!
Nu reprezintă România, n-o fac mândră!
Ask the tourists why they are even trying to exchange money? ,I thought most places take credit cards?
Everyone accepts also euros and since covid, even vietnamese shops have card terminals.
Why are people so stupid to even consider random and overly suspicious guy on the street who wants to give them a good deal out of the good of their heart? Are they drunk or drugged or not legally sane?! Can you ask those people if they do that in other countries too?
Good to see my country is not the only one with incompetent cops
Janek, ten úsmev je už zo žiaľu, však?! :)
Great job!! Sucks the police don’t care.
You should recruit more people to work with you. So those scammers will be really scared and leave.
Janik, i will surely come to Prague to visit your city mate..
For me it is still unbelievable why people even exchange money in Prague?? You can pay everything with a card ... I was there 2 years ago, I didn't used cash a single time. Imagine 2 years later, when I am guessing even more places have card payment.
And if you need cash, why change it on the street. I mean be reasonable .. You can't do that.
If there is no demand, there won't be scammers.
Anyways, it is really nice to have a youtuber that does something good. Good job, HONEST GUIDE!!
Not to add, everyone accepts also euros so no need to exchange a single czech crown!
Also, if tourists flock to use “unofficial” street trade and not banks to exchange their money, what do they honestly expect?!
If a deal looks too good and is almost being pushed onto you..
Canadian watcher, our closest saying to "patience can bring you roses" is "patience is a virtue". Although your saying is much more poetic.
By now and after watching tons of your videos, i am 99% sure all these cops are corrupt and teammates of these scammers.
Almost everywhere police having some kind of " business" :)) live with this :))
Coming to Prague soon for a chess tournament!! Hope I run into you catching scammers!
Sharing is beautiful 👍👍
Patience is its own reward
Close, but different, This one talks about the process of waiting, not the outcome of it.
german tourists are often so heartwarming naive. nearly every week there are news reports in austrian newspapers, that german hikers (especially from northern germany) had to be rescued by helicopter becaue they simply not followed the basic mountaineering rules.
You the best!
The Czech word at the end... We, Hungarians do have this, but we say: "Türelem rózsát terem" which translates to: "patience grows roses" - basically the Hungarian equivalent to "patience is a virtue": :D
(Read the subtitle)
Just to add something, it is not just these 2 UA-camrs but also ALL your followers who learn from you and pass the information on to other tourists, family and friends who visit Prague (and any other city, because you showed that the same scams happen again and again in every touristic city)
I got scammed in the same way in Bucharest in 1987. I lost $100 because of a "magician" who took me with him to an alley. He showed me the Romanian money all rolled up. He unrolled it and I could see it was real money and there was a lot of it. For them, in Soviet times, a $100 bill was worth much more than the official exchange rate. So I gave the note to the guy and he gave me the roll of Romanian money. He then left quickly after warning me to make sure the police or military wouldn't see me with all this money. When I removed the rubber band from the roll of bills to count it in a safe place, I realized that the first two bills were real. The remaining bills were actually plain paper 😢 I thought the roll of bills was the one he had unrolled in front of me, but obviously he had swapped it out at some stage without me noticing. I didn't know if I should be mad at myself for being so stupid or if I should be in awe of the trickster's skill 😮
Regarding the end word about "patience will give you roses" might be akin to "patience is a virtue" perhaps?
If I was that guy and I heard that the city nor cops doesn't care about these type of scams. I'll protest!
You know its bad when scammers watch and possibly enjoy your videos when they are caught
Nice video like always
(also about the text, make the text smaller, it is very readable, i suggest to make it microscopic)
It also stays too long on screen, it’s easy to pause, you should have to navigate the video frame by frame instead.
All good things come to those who wait.
In English we say "patience is a virtue". Not very poetic, but that what we say.
Not a native English speaker, but in my mother tongue (Catalan), we say "La paciència és la mare de la ciència", which translates to "pacience is the mother of science" (meaning that for you to invent something, you have to try multiple times before you succeed)
In Czech, we say somethng similar - repeating is mother of success. Many of these things are just generally european and are just slightly modified in each language. That with roses is probably something very archaic, I've never heard it in real life.
@@nintendokings While not beying patinece gets you do prison or to grave, that's what I remember from game Mafia, such a good message. 😀
In Danish you can say "if you wait long enough, you can become king of Sweden".
you guys are fit for scam video... do scam video from other countries as well....🤣🤣👍👍
I'm afraid the current situation could bring even more scammers to Prague since the cops and city are letting them scam however they want...
Get a guy they don't recognize to act as a victim, exchange €500 and bust him.
Lenze to by musela dlhodobo vysetrovat kriminalka.
@Ondrej Vana then they need to change the law ASAP. In my country scams of any kind is not tolerated
It’s so beyond funny to me that my old money could now be all the way across the world 😂 unbelievable
Isn't it greatly disheartening to see the city you love fall into the hands of these scumbags, and having the city officials and servants of justice doing absolutely nothing. Sad sad stuff.
I wonder what it looks like to outsiders when they hand you money... Like, do they think you're being paid protection money? Do they think they're handing their profits to you to lose less in case they're robbed themselves? Curious, curious.
Patients will bring you roses is the equivalent of good things come to those who wait
This tells me not to visit Prague until city officials start taking this scam seriously.
Enough is enough. Teach the scammers a lesson with your fist.
Hope to meet you in Prague in october ....😊
Good things come to those who wait? Closest thing I think we have to patience brings you roses
I read your little subtitles towards the end ;)
But clearly what the police and the city are doing is not enough. Right now, the only thing that will stop them is you exposing them.
I wonder if we can get a kickstarter going to buy advertising space in the city to post their faces? somewhere high up that they won't be able to reach/vandalise it.
@@solveit1304 I'd love to see thier faces up on billboards around the city with "These men are scammers. Do not attempt to exchange money with them" in multiple different languages all around the city.
Maybe some leaflets in hotels, posters on the metro on the opposite side of the tracks to the platform....all that.
@@advancedflea Police got evidence on camera, they even meet victims and still do nothing! Such information capaign maybe could open goverment eyes. I'm not sure if Janek could use they faces. Here in Europe we got GDPR law to protect identity and many others to not publish people faces without they permission.
@@advancedflea Funnily enough, I think that could get whoever would do this in trouble with the police, because GDPR is a thing in the EU :D
@@janprochazka9852 I know what GDPR is ;) and it would be no different to posting their faces in a video online...from a legal perspective at least

Prepaid cards are best because u can top up everyday let's say 10EUR and only use that
It's truly disheartening to hear about cases like this, where scammers are caught multiple times, only to be set free by the authorities
Unfortunately, the Czech police are seemingly, very, very lazy. The fact that so many criminals are being caught by a UA-camr just proves to me that the police over there aren't interested in actually doing their job.
Its like this everywhere throughout europe. Just look at France and Paris. There the scammers are even much worse since theyll threaten you…the US is the only country where they have no mercy with such ppl
Czech police don't care
Well, remember, this is a country where you can legally snort coke off a coffee table in a bar, so can you imagine what else goes on?
@@SonOfZeuz i dont know where you got that information from, but I can tell you that youre wrong. For such behavior youll most likely end up in jail, so i woulndt recommend it. Also if there is any bar that lets you do that, theyll get shut down. What youve said is total bs.
