All things pretty and shiny just beckon the magpie in me. However, I also love when fantasy books have those old-timey fairytale-esque illustrations on the cover. One of the best examples of this would be the ones done by the artist Kinuko Y. Craft. She has done the covers for many Patricia A. McKillip's books and Juliet Marillier's Wildwood Dancing books. They're just so intricate and whimsical. And I would like to mention - that book inspired makeup video was great, I'd love to see something more of that sort of thing sometime :)
I am the same as you. I like detail and foiling but I also really like nature to be on the cover too. If there is a detailed tree or leaves in the background or something like that I would be very happy. I love the covers to the Ten Thousand Doors of January and the cover to The Book of Lost Things.
I love The Binding and The Betrayals hardcovers, they are stunning. I love the Kingdom of the wicked by FairyLoot and their most recent book Lore. That is amazing 🤩
The fairy book cover looks absolutely beautiful and the illustrations are gorgeous and wonderfully done. 🥰📚 These books are all so beautiful and intricate. One of my favourite covers is also Kingdom of the wicked followed by the embossed cover of The Secret Garden, Alice in wonderland hard cover, the Song of Achilles cover as well as Amari and the night brothers cover all of which are my favourites due to the artwork and illustrations as well as the title fonts.
Yes, the Folio Society products are top-notch. In the 80s they sent me one per month and I paid them. A snafu caused them to double-bill me for Blake and after two or three letters I lost patience and made a rather rude reply suggesting they enjoyed the smell of where they had stuck their head. Today ofc I'd be more polite. Still I have a few of them. Would you like one? I'll send one to you.
My favourite covers are the Barnes and noble edition of peter pan it's just a stunning baby blue with silver foiled edges and I love the beauty and the beast and other fairytales. It's got the same foiled edges but it's a light pink. The inside covers and illustrations are just stunning. I would definitely recommend checking them out
I ADORE the All Souls series US hardcovers! I got the first 3 books for my birthday in December and Christmas (they’re only a week apart lol). They’re just shiny and really pretty! I’m currently rereading Shadow Of Night, Book 2 in this edition. My UK hardcovers are signed so I want to keep those in the condition their in, although book 1 has been read SOOOOOOOOO many times, it does kind of look wrecked now. Books 2&3 are fine though. Also the ACOTAR covers! I don’t like ACOSF much as I hate orange, but I’m still going to own it! I like the UK cover for A Sky Beyond The Storm by Sabaa Tahir. Mine has gorgeous purple sprayed edges! There are of course more but those are just some of my favourites!
