Types of PhD in Germany, is it a paid job or only study?

I will explain in this video about different types of PhD in Germany and will explain if you get paid for doing the PhD or it is only a study and you have to secure a scholarship by yourself.

So if it is written on the university website, that the master degree allows to apply for doctorate after completion the master degree. Does it mean that it is paid ?
