hay woods I'm 65 years old and I've never worn 'gloves'. Rubber or otherwise to clean guns. I have no ill effects from it. Neurologically or built-up in my organs. I've been checked by Medical professionals because of my work in aerospace for 30 years, where I've been exposed to far harsher chemicals then those they use in firearm solvents. But, keep up the good work. Make sure every firearm video on the Internet is meeting your criteria for safety.

@@greenlawnfarm5827 ... Sheesh... Gloves? Thanks to the myriad of California warning labels on almost every product including water based latex paint the current younger generation is afraid of their own shadow. They won't even get their kids life saving vaccines or flu shots. Anyway... my father lived to be 94. He worked in a chemical plant for 35 years. He used to come home with his clothes smelling so bad with chemical odors like Formaldehyde my mother made him get undressed out in the breezeway. Over the years he brought home almost every chemical known to man use in various cleaning projects. Some smelled so bad he could only use them outside. That said, he never wore gloves. Cleaning guns, carburetors, degreasing parts etc. When he was in a hurry he would just grab the can of gasoline. Granted some chemicals are nastier than others but the warning labels on almost everything nowadays including many food items are only there to protect the manufacturer from lawsuits (i.e., todays get rich quick scheme) . Not saying gloves are a bad idea but personally I only use them when I don't want to waste time cleaning my hands after a messy project.

Scope was easy to adjust for eye relief. Only problem the varmints must have seen it delivered lol!Update: So impressed with shot groups at 30 yards I purchased a Hammers 3×9 with adjustable Objective scope! Now a true nail driver!

Forrest, this is the most well done video I've seen on Y'tube. The camera didn't matter but the lighting, tracking shots, audio recording, camera angles, editing, background music level, set-up, shot progression and completeness of instruction were worthy of a high-end production house...I produce videos for a living. thanks again. I am a 1st time gun owner at 60. I have a 22/10. Its a nice gun, but I was very surprise how little information Ruger had on how to maintain their weapon. I had shot and cleaned bolt actions in 5th grade camp, but without this video I was lost in being able to breakdown and clean this simple rifle. Thanks again, cleaned up and shot well, even if get that bolt handle back on was a pain in....

The Mechanolith really shines on this video, but the rest of the crew hold up their ends as well. This is the single best 10/22 maintenance video I know of, out of scores I've watched. Do some upgrade vids (triggers/bedding/barrels) with the same attention to detail and excellent photography, and I can see the whole crew on the red carpet at Cannes.

As you will soon learn the rifle isn't worth half of what you paid for. Accuracy is none. You could be way more accurate with a 150.00 22. Rifle like a savage, or a rossi, and just as reliable, but just as I learned the trigger pull is awful for the 10/22 Ruger. After a trigger job, a bull barrel, and high priced scope we'll say 300 bucks worth of modifications you can be some what accurate with it.

I'll also give credit to your elders, or whoever shared their knowledge with you.Unfortunately, there are too many of today's shooters that think gun maintenance is old-fashioned and something that seldom or rarely needs to be performed. They'll have to learn the hard way I guess, when a dangerous animal is charging, they point their weapon at it, and it goes "click".

You cannot make sure the gun is empty without FIRST removing the magazine before checking the chamber. If the magazine had a bullet in it while you were checking the chamber, as soon as the bolt was released back forward, there would be a bullet in the chamber. So, the first safety step is to keep the rifle pointed in a safe direction and remove the magazine before ANYTHING else. Other than that, great video!

Excellent video. I've had my 10-22 (the same one) since 1967. Pulled it out after a bazillion years to teach my son and daughter to shoot it. After a little range time we brought it home to clean. Although some of the parts are different now (the magazine release is a push up button on mine vs a push forward lever) the gun has stood the test of time. Your video was spot on to review with the kids. Thanks!

Best video I've EVER seen on cleaning a rifle. Unfortunately, Forrest prolly got sued by some snowflake claiming that they contracted toenail fungus - because the video didn't instruct them to wear gloves and a face mask.

Amazing video, saved my bacon. Pins fell out of trigger assembly very easily. Video allowed me to rebuild. You make it seem simple. Not quite as easy as you do it, but I finally managed to get it. Thank you very much.
