This is one of my favorite performances by Daneliya. To think she was only 13 years old when she did this. Just amazing.
I forgot how emotional this performance is 😭 gripped me again, like only Daneliya can do...
This is one of her most powerful performances because of the subject matter and her connection to the song. Both of her Grandfathers were soldiers during WWII (family photos represented in the video). I believe the month of May is relevant because May 9th is Soviet "Victory" Day when the Russians and the formar Soviet states consider the Soviet victory inThe Great Patriotic War against Germany. Daneliya is Patriotic because her family was involved in the victory of the war. Her Grandfather, Satymbek Omarovich Tuleshev, was even honored as a War Hero because of his actions in the war.
She also has a great gift of drawing your attention with her stage presence, even if she's singing in her native language and we don't understand the meaning without subtitles. I say this about all of her songs and covers but, this is one of my favorites. The thing is, I always mean it, she is simply my favorite artist.

Thank you for this. Daneliya does such a great job with songs that have more substance. She is able to convey emotion better than any singer I've ever heard. I've heard quite a few in my 72 years. So again thanks for getting in Hap's ear. I used to make suggestion to all my reactors but have never been picked, that I'm aware of.

One of her best studio performance. Her voice is a miracle. When she is involved like that, she seems possessed and her singing is mesmerizing. Best teen singer ever.
The name of this song is associated with the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945).
Dear Hap,
Briefly about the song. The original author's grandmother served in World War II. As a young girl, she was a truck driver. The war in Europe ended in May, the lady was in Bucharest, Romania, from where she went home for good. The song describes the heightened happiness and anxiety of a soldier arriving home after a long absence.

What a cover this is. A favorite. It’s a time for patience right now, we’ll have to wait and see what Daneliya’s future holds. Of course, personally I hope it involves music, but her future is bright even if it doesn’t. Time will tell. It always does.
