The sound engineer and producer here deserve oscars or something. Sounds absolutely incredible.
It's just Karnivool mate :P
@@Vool2go Actually all the credits are in the description.
A Grammy !
Forrester Saville is definitely their go-to producer and if you follow Forrester's work you can discover so many awesome artists similar to (and different from) Karnivool.
@@BendemShark This though, is Jan Kerscher's handywork. He also did their Online-Live-Stream thingy during lockdown ;)
Wish they did sky machine like this. This, aeons and sky are the heavy hitters on this album imo
Don't forget We Are, for the holy quartet
Single strokes, abs, doubles, abs, paradiddles, abs. Protein & repeat.
Twelvepoint Buffalo I should try that.
fuckn lol
Lol
Steve Judd is quite the drummer
Karnivool are the reason I don't miss Tool. So much creativity, great music.
Couldn't be more right!!! That said, looking forward to Tools new album.
Absolutely right!
I completely agree with you ✌✌✌✌
Tool are still fukn sick though. Always good to go back to :)
Manas Sharma Dude I feel exactly the same way. I love Tool but Karnivool are just killing it at the moment.
It sounds like their guitars are fucking alive. Masterful emotional playing
look how young they are #waitingforalbum4
Karnivool's best song. Reminds me of A Perfect Circle or Porcupine Tree. I love the slow build up, and the two different climaxes.
Risking telling you something you’ll already know: The Pineapple Thief might be of your liking as well! Gavin Harrison is in the band as well
I love this version so much more than the album version, there's something about it that really hits me a lot more.
+Adhitthana Nothing like seeing the guys themselves connecting with their beautiful music :)
Agreed. The production on the album is terrible (in the opinion of myself - and many others). Sounds much better here (and live).
This is my first time seeing this recording, been avoiding it because I didn't really like asymmetry, like I got a decent chunk into it and came to the executive decision that it was just not worth listening any more and I'd wait for new material again.
Hearing this recording, this is far far better.
That and seeing them play we are live yesterday has made me super in love with that song now.
Edit: just listened to we are again on the album, I know why I don't like the album.
All you can really hear is ian, the share drum, one of the guitars and whatever the sample.
There's huge elements of the song that are completely missing thanks to some poor use of faders.
Might the fat mix
Saaaaaame 🔥
God damn, I was not expecting that at 3:41 ...this band rocks. hard. really hard.
Diego Villasmil this band rocks hard, this band makes me rock hard.
This is one of the coolest prog acts in my opinion, so much talent. 5:55 eargasm
Love that. Almost Middle Eastern vocal melody, so good.
I think the balance of the mix in this recording is so much more impactful than the actual album. For some reason the album has the vocals way too forward, and the the bass pulled back in places where it should shake walls (see 3:40).
I really wish they had recorded the whole album there, and had you guys mix it. XD
Karnivool blew my mind live in concert. Being able to hear a perfectly mixed session of them playing is heavenly.
The guitar sounds are so lush . And then they kick you in the stomach with slow riffs sliding up and down the neck creating a sense of intensity and foreboding warning
The vocals can be heard without overshadowing the band. The mixing is very balanced, so you aren't losing the little details that make Karnivool even more spectacular than they already are.
I don't know what a perfect mix is, but to me, this sounds outstanding!
By the way hearing Ian say " that was the tits" totallyn 😂out of nowhere cracked me up
This is easily one of the top five recordings on UA-cam. Startling in every way.
share the other 4 pls
in love with this version
@@Significian Karnivool's 'We Are' live on Triple J has to be up there
What did we do to deserve this band AND this incredible production?
Dear Ghost City Recordings,
I have a blank check that I will gladly let you fill in any amount for an album of these recordings (assuming there are more.) Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go change my underwear. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Major Fanboy Moment
Ryan Barder haha you sir - are awesome!! glad you liked our work there!!! major fun moment reading comments :)
+Ryan Barder Agreed! One track I REALLY would have loved them to do this way is "Sky Machine". Don't know whey they didn't do that one. Seems almost perfect for such a scenario.
0798184 I think nachash would've been good too
just, with a glass of scotch and a cigar
Ghost City Recordings but for real is there any way to purchase these in flac or something to that end?
The chord progression at 1:19 is fucking amazing.
I always liked how the "sh" in "shake the ground" becomes like a reverse reverb for the snare hit.
I cannot count the number of times I have visited this video but every single time, I spend the entire 8:30 mins without looking away for a single second.
This is the way
I thought I recognised you! I love your covers haha
When the bass swings in its so thick you could put it on toast.
One of the sickest performances ever
So Underrated, Jesus Christ !
This recording is better then the album is my opinion. So sonic!!
I was into it, then @ 3:41 I had a "Fuck Yeah" Moment and got REALLY into it. Thank You for that, it was appreciated.
I didn't know Tony hawk had such a great group man, awesome
Nah man that's JacksFilms
i love how I can't hear anything Aussie in his voice and then I hear the end "that was the tits" hahahaha unmistakingly an aussie
Hard to find a highlight when it’s all pretty bloody perfect... but That bass tone at 4.55 onwards... just soupy, swampy, gorgeous filth.
One of my newer favorite bands.
Whoever made this drags me back every week...i'm damp
Holy crap!! Now I just want the whole album like this.
the whole album was.
OMFG! Words cannot describe the epicness of this :)
This would of easily been the most amazing and special experience being that camera man. The sheer emotion and intensity inside that room from this session is amazing. You fellas nailed it! That studio room in also on another level with all the mic placements! Much love from home!
5 years later and this performance still gives me goosebumps
Holy fuck Karnivool are tight. I've surfed through hours of their recording sessions, and the sound and delivery is constantly phenomenal. This record, Asymmetry, is really growing on me too.
they dont have a very good sound guy for live performances though. they came to our campus 5 years back and it wasnt as good as expected from them but hopefully they've become much better.
Divyang Upadhyaya I saw them at Red Hill Auditorium about a year ago and my face was blown off...In a really amazing way. Sounded Phenomenal
So much of it boils down to the venue. The most amazing (sound-wise) Karnivool show I've been to was at UC in A.C.T about 7 years ago. Bigger venues just haven't had quite the same 'kick'!
apologies if i was harsh on karn; as a wannabe drummer myself, i totally agree with u. esp with the kind of tones karn use, i think a closed theatre will be so much better for their sound
just really really wanna see them again though :)
tfw you will never be half as good as the vool.
that was mesmerizing.
a living breathing organism not just music
I dont have any problem with feeling superior to the guys which just eat Architects and stuff when Im hearing this live recording. Like how the fuck is this music not fucking mainstream? I would love a time where such bands could do the main stage on any festival known!
2nd half of this song speaks volumes of this phenomenal band! Iconic 🔥💝
This is why they are this country's best live act!!
Oh my god. Great recording and best band in the world for me!
One of the ... ;-)
Karnivool is by far my favorite band! cheers from Brazil!
I just broke the like button and my cell phone screen.
How is possible I have missed this band for so long, just can't understand it.
Drummer was released from prison just for this session
One of the best performances in studio of this awesome Australian group of guys... Karnivool ESSENCE makes me FLY... (8) !!!
This SONG is just like a god song... pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
this is SO GOOD
Why is this better than the album version lol
So fucking SICK!
KARNIVOOL RULES!!!
I'm 61 years old. I'm a lifelong vocalist and songwriter. I never stop looking for new music to love. I was lucky enough to find these guys with my nephew (and long time writing partner) in 2010.
Been addicted ever since!
Also, to anyone seeing this, my nephew, (Shaun Snow) is in a new band, "Solaria" with Matt Mcjunkins, (A Perfect Circle, Pucifer, Eagles of Death Metal) and Micheal Levine, (Falling In Reverse) with the first single to be released in conjunction with the video, in early 2021.
Watch for Solaria, you won't be disappointed...
72 here. I love this.
Amazing… such a dynamic performance, captured realistically and mixed to perfection. Karnivool really are an amazing band, both live and studio…. and live in the studio.
Hopeless in deep space
You made us wait like you used to
I was an utter disgrace
You made us sing "hallelujah"
And now it's all gone
Every time we tried
We cannot pity, we cannot stand around
Nervous for the hope we ache to find
Every time we tried
Which one are you?
Two sides of a coin
Taking pride in plenty of good advice
Win or lose our minds
In a picture, perfect
Every time we've tried
Nervous for the hope we ache to find
(We cannot pity, we cannot stand around)
Every time we tried
(Every time we tried)
(Every time we tried)
We've got to say
All feelings aside
Every new life rises
We all build together
(We all see your call)
Win or lose our minds
Win or lose our minds
In a picture, perfect
Every time I tried
Break the mold
Let's shake the ground
Wreak havoc
[x8]
We all strike a match
And burn this ordinary life
When the sun rises high
You'd best pray you're the better man
[x2]
We've all gotta take to the wall soon
Or break free or burn it to the ground
This ain't no ordinary life [x4]
Giannis Musicman thank you for being the guy that posts the lyrics in the comments. We all love you
Giannis Musicman thank you very much
What does he say at the end, it sounds like it's part of the track, he doesn't sing it, something like "waiting, watching for....?" Then is sounds like it switches to "win or lose your mind"
Anyone?
Ps. This song is amazing, love it
You forgot to add: That was the tits. I thought that was good.
I shed a couple tears every time I come back 💖🔥😢 #thatwasthetits
It's looks like there was one more song played or recorded by guys in this room. Drew changed guitar to second PRS in the end of song while performing vocals but Aeons was played with Tele.
This song brings a tear to my eye
this is fucking awesome, these dudes have taken full advantage of the instruments and the technology available. soo fuckiing cool dude
That was one is the most phenomenal live performances I've ever heard. Jesus christ.
Much better than album version
Saw these guys live a few days ago and then went and partyd with Drew (the guitarist) was a good night!
You lucky Bastard!
Was so much fun, was really good to sit down and chat with him about where they draw their inspiration for their music from and guitar techniques and stuff. I was trying so hard not to fangirl and scare him off hahaha.
Sound recording is done superbly. Overall an mesmerizing performance. This band is really underrated
This is one of the greatest melody I never heard ! I simply love it !
Iva caught myself looping this song for over 2 hours now, help pls
That ball-tingling bass-tone!
Karnivool I love you.
More from this session please? Excellent production quality and editing....
Best band since Tool; these guys are gods...
These guys are incredible.
Damn that was good. Wish they gave Jon a little more with the camera.
his bass playing is beyond underrated....
The tones and effects they used here are so fuckin cool. Love these guys.
Can't explan how much i love that song and that Version of it. That band is just the best ever omg i love them
I got excited when Beato did a video about Pantera, but I was screaming when he did about Karnivool! Hope i get the chance to see you in a concert and ideally with new songs!!!
Really fantastic, a great song from one of the best bands of the current scene
WE ALL STRIKE A MAAAAAATCH
Awesome! As per usual from Karnivool, Kennys vocals were spot on!
I love Karnivool they're amazing
No one is doing music better right now. Great production as well
No words...........
awesome, better than the album
This is awesome, one of the best performance I have ever heard in my life!! WTF, only 71k views? I agree, the album is very poorly mixed - drums is too loud and vocals is loo low, clean guitars are not properly heard. Next time guys let mixing and mastering do somebody who is not half deaf.
amazing ghost works, flies giant sound, dripping under the skin, electrifying, great work!
Every time I hear this it’s in my head for days. Wonderful !
Same, I get different parts looping in my head at work and feel like an apocalyptic god while I'm washing dishes
Amazing!
Stunning. Karnivool are just TOO GOOD!
Love it!
Amazing! The best!
Amazing........
Flawless
what a great video, love it !
Absolutely awesome.
Masterful
Ian sums it up perfectly at the end, there. Goddamn that was funny lol Fuckin stupendous
awesome,
Absolutely incredibly perfect. You geniuses :)
Fantastic performance!!
Best band ever
That was such an incredible performance and the recording and mix is just amazing. Thank you so much!
So much love for these guys!
world class everything!!
This is fantastic.
Whenever new life rises, we all build together...
I'm in love with Karnivool!
chills every goddamn time
That was awesome!!!!!!! Hopefully I will get to see them live one day!!!
This blows my mind every time
I love the first few seconds! Also the rest
FLAWLESS
Makes my fucking hair stand on end. Unreal.
