A huge detail that a lot of people never caught was the fact that this dude served in the military, he wears his watch on the opposite side of his wrist which is common in a military sence because as your holding a rifle you don't need to rotate your wrist to check the time, this dude was in the military, kicked back out into the world without a job and without a lot of money, clearly got a job doing something illegal, probably killing people or something to do with it as it made use of his skills from the military and is pretty easy money to him. The watch being on the opposite side of his wrist, him being desensitized to the killing on TV and him not showing much emotion is proof of all this
Avoid glare or glint, protect the face and sure, easier to read at the ready. Nurses do it too, btw. How do we know he isn’t an underpaid nurse who’s become desensitized to violence from working in an ER?
Lately I've been watching various short films on UA-cam to take some lessons and inspiration. I am amazed by the hardwork and creativity y'all have put into this. Keep growing ✨️
This is fucking amazing...fantastic shots, great music, awesome grading. You guys really know what you're doing when it comes to conveying a story with shots...my only criticism would be that the shot at 1:51 is badly stabilised, it's such a great shot and I feel like the warp stabiliser made it overwhelming to look at. Also the autofocus in a couple of those ending shots are distracting as the background lights are breathing! Apart from these - it's spectacular and I loved it.
Solid all around! I love the green neon kicker in the payphone scene. The final shot was great - the smile alone completed the character arc. Can I ask what you did to achieve this look (filters, picture profiles, LUTs)? I just got and FX3 and am trying to learn it better. Thanks again, and great job!
No filters, and just playing with lights and sets. I would recommend just looking up great color grading videos. You will eventually find the style you like. Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask any other questions 🙏🏻
I asked myself if you record evry sequence again with an microphone like the door closing sound or you walking toward the car…do you record that all and place it in the cutting process under the right place cause this is veerry detailing work and i love that🙏🤝
how are phone calls scenes filmed? like is the person on the other line during filming? I can never find any information on this. Please let me know. Thank you.
Not necessarily, they just have a script that they use. They can actually have the other guy record his lines separately then they join it into a convo in editing
@@BettDerrick1 so on one scene the actor is just reacting to what the person is saying even though it's filmed in another scene or voice over? and what about the timing of it though? because you don't want the actor reacting too long when the person on the phone is done? This is what confuses me as I'm trying to film a scene like this
@@crazycool905 The timing is done by the editor or sound designer..voice 2 is edited just after the actor stops speaking.. Because the voice on the other side of the line is sometimes pre recorded.
@@BettDerrick1 now I understand. Thank you so much. This is going to help me in my short film. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain to me

Tripod is cool and better than a stab also stop use autofocus ! BUT the concept is cool, the colors are awesome, the art direction is very impressive !

I’m thinking he was a nurse. Maybe a nurse in the military? 🤷♂️

Walter Rodriguez had impressive acting. Also, some of those car driving shots were awesome!
Agreed! Walter is the best!

Very good acting, cinematography, use of colors/lighting however I feel like there could be more dialogue. Good job
I personally thought the lack of dialogue made it more intriguing. I’m still watching because I’m trying to figure out what happened.
