Thank you for the video. I had a GoPro 6 with the adapter for plugging in an audio cable, which went bad on a 3 week trip to Colorado. So, instead of buying a new adapter, I bought a GoPro 10. After watching your video, I purchased an Attenuator Cable, which has made all the difference in the world. Thank you for your tip about needing an Attenuator Cable. Great to see there is a set up out there that works. Going to get my helmet set up for it now. Would be handy to find a waterproof casing for the cables though, maybe a small box to clip onto the back of the helmet?
Wow.. sweet sweet explainer video, clear and concise. I haven't got much else to say but just wanted to drop a comment to help out with the algorithm. I'll check out some of the other vids, you might just have got a new fan. Once again, well done!
Well explained Bruce and hope it works satisfactorily for you. Nice one, Shoei’s have grooves at the back of the lid where you can push in the connectors etc, then just distribute the wiring so it’s not bunched up anywhere 👍
Yep that’s certainly a more permanent solution for sure, but I wanted to keep it relatively easy to disconnect and remove etc. Thought I’d have to remove it for trackdays and the like, but in actual fact you can just tuck the end of the cable away 👍
Audio going to speakers is usually “line” level. It’s boosted much higher than a “mic” level signal. Anytime you’re trying to take audio that’s meant to be output through a speaker and instead bring it into a camera or audio device as if it were a microphone, you run the risk of the clipping distortion you had. That’s why you need the attenuator cable, if you were curious :) Great video though. Thanks for the information.
Thanks for the explanation bud, much appreciated 👍 I’ve had the clipping previously, but I know people who don’t use an attenuator cable and their audio is fine?🤷♂️👍
I Already have a set up like this on my lid i have managed to hide all the cables inside my lid. its a good work around until like you said Bruce there is a inbuilt option on the coms units
I use the RideTech mounts, they’re specifically made for each make of helmet. I tried the ‘Chinmounts’ ones first but it failed on the first ride, so I ordered one of these ‘RideTech’ ones and it’s still on my lid to this day ridetechmoto.com/TeapotOne
@@teapotone cheers. Just watched it. Thanks. I have this set up currently but you’ve just answered my question with the attenuator cable. Never knew about this before. Cheers Bruce
Nice one,Teapot! tip: add heat-shrink wrapping over the connectors and then use segru on each end of the wrap, to totally waterproof them. Segru can easily stick the cables to the helmet too, no gaffer tape required. Segru is a moldable glue, similar to your idea, that feels like plasticine / playdo to manipulate, and will set as a hard-wearing rubberized waterproof molding if left overnight. Great for other stuff too, like securing cables inside helmets, or fixing split laptop power lead outers for instance. I've no affiliation with them BTW, just a good product.
@@teapotone Fair comment. Segru can be removed, but it's hard work to keep on doing it. I think I'm going to keep an existing Neotec II that's permanently wired for vlogging with group audio, and get a new helmet, that I just want to wear when I'm, simply riding and don't want/need all that paraphernalia stuck to my lid!
you can now do it with cardo app after an update if your using the new mesh 2 unfortunately i have the pack talk bold which is discontinued and mesh 1.
Yeah I tried this when it first came out, the audio quality isn't as good as you'll get with this setup, plus it's a very long-winded process to get the audio files from the app to your computer
Bruce, this is sooo helpful!!! This is why you're a legend.. You have made the mistakes so we don't have to and that's why you're one of UA-cams Greats IMO :)
Just a pro tip for when you're taping cables and wires. Ideally, you want to be working with electrical tape and you roll it tightly around what you're taping 1 inch in either direction before terminating back in the middle. This helps with adhesion and waterproofing.
Oh man this is perfect timing I totally needed this. I've got my first track day at Portland international raceway on Sunday. And I'm extremely confident it will not be my last. But to finally utilize my GoPro the adapter and the purple Panda Mike or somehow mix in my helmet calm really make it a little better for sharing the footage with my son
Having to do this is completely insane. Should be able to record the audio to the app on your phone to sync up later. Also, I got a Movo gooseneck mic that is perfect for snaking from the media mod to the chin bar, obviously for solo recording only
@@teapotone wide recquirement or not, this is 2023, this should be easy to adapt. hell they could design these to just have an extra cable coming up where you can connect it straight to your gopro and use both mic and audio from your cardo. How hard is that? We should stop buying these stupid limited products till they actually come with something resembling 2023.
What a useful video. Thanks, fella. I'm no audio engineer, but I'm guessing the attenuator cable is needed because the comm unit output signal has been amplified to go to the speakers. I'm waiting with bated breath for the time these units come with a record socket, but in the meantime I might look into these cables. I use a Tascam recorder, and might upgrade to one that has two inputs, rather than use the breakout cable. It would mean separate input level controls would be available. It sounds like the attenuator cable would still be required, though.
If the tascam has the ability to set “line level” or “mic level” on its inputs then the attenuator wouldn’t be necessary. Just set the input coming from the splitter for the speakers to line level and it will know not to amp it up so much.
Ha Ha cheers Ollie, aye it doesn’t look the best bud gets the job done 👍 I’ve sent you a DM on instagram mate to see if you fancied coming on the Bru Time podcast, be good to chat with you 👍
Great tip! But, would be nice if the camera has bluetooth connection to pair to comm system. My old 360 Fly camera do that, but I lose group communication when paired. I bougth a bluetooth mic adapter to test with my Sony cam.
@@teapotone only a small benefit but is all mounts up hey. I've done a series on my WAW if you want to check it out. Ep 3 I think has the most iconic roads and then Healy Pass later on it the best mountain road
Awesome setup, But I think Gopro Solved lot of issues like these with bluetooth mic setup. I was lucky as my under warranty Gopro Hero 10 died and I paid 150 extra and upgraded to Gopro Hero 12, which has Bluetooth Mic option... Which is great. I did the tests and the quality is quite good, in your setup here, i noticed that in an case of accident, those mic ports can be fatal. I did the something similar setup last year, but since upgrading the gopro, I switched to Bluetooth option. But I recently made a Vlog where i used a veryu cheap copy of Rode Mic and the sound quality is mind blowing. Wishes from Portugal
That was my first thought as well. Bit of heatshrink on both connectors, then a bigger bit over them both. If you wanted to go really stealthy you could even cut and re-solder the cables but that's probably beyond what most people want to do.
Certainly, but that adds a bit more ‘permanency’ to the setup, in that it’ll involve cutting/removing the shrink wrap if you ever want to disconnect cables etc. Definitely the better option though admittedly 👍
Gret video bud. have you ever thought of using heat shrink on your exposed connections? Very neat, and very slim fitting and removable if you need to. Just a thought for you. All the best!
Yes bud, I did think about heat shrink, but it adds a bit too much permanency for me - appreciate you can strip it off but seems too much faff for me. I may do this when I get the custom painted lid though 😉
Cheers Bruce. Just off on a big European trip so thought I'd give this a go in an effort to capture both sides of the conversations for once. Bought all the bits using your links..... but it won't work. Using a Cardonald Edge and Hero 7 Black. I can get it to work occasionally if I don't fully engage one of the connectors, but if I plug them all in firmly it's a no go. Having similar issues with a friends set-up (not quite the same) and believe his problem may be associated with incompatibility between TRS and TRRS connectors. Wonder if that could possibly be the same with mine....anyone got any thoughts on why mine may not be working as Bruce's?
Hi Andy, Are you positive it’s not recording the Comms audio? It’s often very quiet and you need to boost that channel’s audio - see this vid How To Adjust Audio - Group Chat is too Quiet ua-cam.com/video/wu8eGoqsCEA/v-deo.html
You can but you’ll need the attenuator cable - I move tried this without the cable and that’s how I got the really distorted audio you hear as an example in this vid. But yes, if you have a spare unit then you can do this 👍
@@teapotone I just wondered that's all Bruce, I thought it might be a way to keep all that off your lid. I'll leave all this gubbins to you pros though, no-one wants to listen to my inane ramblings lol.
Your videos are great, always good info at the right level and speed (no useless fill) - can I ask re. the gopro mike in connection, is this not a weak point for water ingress ? or is the port itself waterproof. Asking as I live in the uk, rode back from scotland last week with a sena 50c in the rain and bricked it so am looking for a new system ---- (yes It would do what you said about recording group chat I think as it perfectly records phone conversations straight onto the video and the camera is amazing, but its 'sena' voice recognition is rubbish and its not waterproof (but you can revert to using siri easily instead which covers most things) The sena 50c has NO IP rating and is not even certified water resistant, never mind waterproof. so beware before buying.. As I am outside my return period I'm simply getting a replacement rather than refund so I may try and jimmy a homemade waterproof solution using the ear plugs or something
I use mouldable silicon putty around all connections to help weatherproof them, plus the Cardo units are fully waterproof. Can’t understand why Sena don’t seem to think being waterproof is a priority for their products - completely useless here in the UK 🤷♂️ This is the putty I use - amzn.to/3MDgTQe
Nearly exactly what I was looking for....but not quite. I have Neotec 2 with Sean mesh installed and wondered if I could use Senna mic to provide the audio for chin mounted go pro. Didnt want to record group chat, just use the Sena mic as blogging mic, do you know if Can Sena broadcast to GoPro? I was thinking dji mic could make the solution wireless to go pro, however Send does broadcast via bluetooth.
Yes you’ll need to use software that allows you to split the Stereo audio into left and right channels so you can work on them individually. Davinci resolve is free to download and there are many others
Hi Bruce just had the black/red splitter cable and the female connectors are huge (each the size of a finger). Are you sure you've shared the right link pls?
Mate I’m so sorry, the original one I used was out of stock so I used another one, not noticing the larger size of the connectors 🤦♂️ I’ve amended now in the description as they’re back in stock, or this is it amzn.eu/d/ehBS3FF
Great video! Helping all of us motovloggers get our setups dialed in! Anyone out there know if there's a hack to get Sena 50s audio in? without using a mic to the speaker?
Hey! Thanks for the details I'm using the cardo bold on my helmet with gopro10 and media mod. when i use the Line In audio input (to avoid the distortion from high winds speed) in the canera Mod it records everyone's voice except me. Any idea how to fix that? Im using the same cables shown in the video. Cheers!
@@teapotone hello I am using a lav mic additional to the Cardo mic. The gopro footage still captures everyones voice except me unless its in standard audio mod (from the Mod options in the carema). The Line In option doesnt get my voice. Let me know if u faced that b4 or know how to solve it. Thanks!!
I just got done doing it but when I tried to record it would be really static would you know as to why it does this? I don’t have the wiring spread apart like you could that be it?
@@teapotonethanks I got it not to static but I have a new issue now when I have my AirPods in I can only hear audio from one side and the Cardo audio from the other. Would you happen to know what might be happening
@Envizion06 yep this setup uses a stereo splitter cable to do exactly that - it feeds the audio from your Cardo/Comms device along one stereo channel, and the audio from your lav mic that goes to your GoPro, down the other. In post you just change the audio from stereo to dual mono - I’ve done a full vid on how to edit this audio 👍
What’s the attenuator cable it still makes that very disturbing sound i have no idea how to fix it. I went in the gopro and put the wind mode to off as well in your other tip video
I've managed (only just) to set my comms up to my GPH9 and Packtalk Bold, I say only as I'm using a Nolan modular helmet so mounting the camera central where it won't impede me releasing the flip-up feature is tricky, not to mention the strain on the breakout cable. The issue I'm having now is the settings. I've just watched your video from 2021on GoPro settings as well as the other video on improving audio quality and eliminating the crackle from the comms in the lav mic, but those were for the standard camera and lens and not for use in the Media Mod as yours is now. I still want to be able to split the audio into seperate channels in post to improve the comms from other riders. Is there a chance you can do an updated video on your settings please for using in the MM as some aren't available and I'm also producing GX files that Final Cut Pro won't import. Sorry, I know this is quite a specific ask but I do think it is quite pertinent to capturing premium footage and audio. TIA. NB. I'm also using a Max Lens Mod as well which has created issues of it's own, but as I see you don't use one I won't as what these settings are.
Am not even going to ask how you came up with this ! Only to say When the apocalypse & break down of social structures hit 🤔 Ave decided am on “Yer team” 😂…..Great vid ! Keep’em coming lad…..🥃🏴
Its great when the Mic and headphones are seprate, What what if both are using one USB C poer to plug into the intercom? You need some sort of a 3 way USB C audio connector that moves audio both ways. Thats hard to find!
Question about the need for the breakout cable. I've been routing audio through a Sena for almost 2 years and considering making the switch to Cardo. In Sena, I can use the same microphone that's to the sena and not bother with a second mic. It requires having the "sidetones" setting on, and I have to record through mesh even when recording alone. Does Cardo not have these options?
I just noticed the problem I will have with the XGP Bluetooth communicator. The wires that go to the comms, only the mic can be separated. So you can use a “lapel mic” or the boom mic which comes with the kit. I cannot separate the speakers. 😞
Hi, I have the exact setup you have described in the video. I find the setup is ok but when I speak loudly the audio clips out and becomes distorted. I am thinking of using another attenuator cable from the mic to the go pro media mod? Would this solve my issue? If so what sort of db reduction? I currently have -35db from the cardo and am not sure if -35db for the mic would be too much. Any ideas? I have tried every setting on the go pro and the mic is fine when used by itself. Should I get a Rode mic, would that help?
NO don’t get a Rode mic, they run very hot so your audio will be even more distorted - I know because I did that 🤦♂️🤣 I find the cheap Lav mic’s off Amazon work well and don’t distort my audio and I have quite a loud, deep voice. If yours is distorting you could try locating the mic a bit further away from your mouth, or maybe just trying to talk at a slightly lower volume? You can certainly try an attenuator cable in line from the mic to the GoPro, you can get various levels so try the lowest and go from there. The GoPro’s have auto-gain but as you’ve found out, it’s not always accurate with a Lav mic for some reason.
@@teapotone thanks for the info. My current one is already a cheap one from Amazon. I have tried it behind the cheek pad but it sounds muffled then. I could talk quieter but if I do people can’t here my on Cardo haha. Good to know about the Rode, will not waste money on that. Will try my Cardo attenuator with my helmet mic and see if it reduces the distortion before I go and buy another. I have noticed if I don’t use an attenuator from Cardo to go pro the music and mic both come out of one speaker left or right for some reason. If I use the attenuator then one comes out of left and the other right which is critical for mixing the levels. Hopefully using 2 attenuators will keep the one on the left and another on the right!
That’s what the stereo splitter cable does so it sounds like you may have them mixed up possibly? For your Cardo mic volume, I use the boom mic setup as it allows me to move the mic closer or further away from my mouth - you ideally need the cardo mic almost touching your lips and right in front of your mouth if you can. This will allow you to talk at a normal volume and give perfectly clear audio to those listening on the Comms 👍
I had purchased the XGP motorcycle Bluetooth communicator. I noticed after the fact that the speakers are tied into the mic wire. I can unplug the lapel mic for a boom mic. But I can’t separate the speakers into a splitter. 😞 Unless XGP updates their wires or makes extra accessories, I won’t be able to record group chats to my GoPro.
I tested this setup with my Osmo Action 3 and the Cardo Packtalk Pro, and I noticed something strange. Even though I didn't have my external lavalier mic connected, audio was still being picked up. Initially, I thought it might be the Cardo mic, but that didn't make sense since it wasn't directly connected to the camera. After further testing, I realized the JBL speakers were picking up the audio when I saw peaks while tapping on them. It's really confusing, but it somehow makes sense I guess. The issue is that it picks up your voice/audio on both the left and right sides, making the breakout cable kind of useless. The audio picked up isn't very loud, and I haven't tested it with the helmet on yet, but I'm unsure how to prevent this. It might make more sense to just leave out the breakout cable and use a second splitter instead.
I’ve not had that issue? Try connecting your external lav mic, putting the lid on and going for an actual ride, and then see what result you get - as it says in the vid 👍
Hi Bruce, good video and helpful as usual. Just a quick question; do you know how Henry Cole gets audio from his open face lid? I'm thinking he must be using a throat mic as I can't see any other way to avoid it being a wind-noise-fest?
I think there’s something wrong with your description. There’s no links for the three cables. I have the Hosa Tech 3.5 Breakout cable. Along with the GoPro mic adapter. Looking to connect with my XGP motorcycle Bluetooth communicator. I need the Rhino 3.5mm stereo cable (or comparable brand) along with the attenuator cable.
Should this be able to record the audio of a phone call too? I don't have anyone with a comms unit to test it with so tried with a phone call. When I did this it records the audio of the person on the phone talking but not my voice too. When the call ends and my music starts again, it records the sound of the music and my voice if I speak.
I have a cardo packtalk slim, but for the life of me I can't get the voice activation to work even after the usual updates, language setting to UK, phone settings all OK. Any help would be appreciated.
@@teapotone yes absolutely, strange thing is hey google works just not Cardo. Bizarre. I was hope yourself or one of your techy subscribers would have an idea.
Afraid I have the opposite issue with voice activation - it’s TOO sensitive so activates when I don’t want it to! It’s better on the Edge than it used to be, but I still turn it off now.
If you are having problems after getting this set up, MAKE SURE you use the purple panda adapter that has a female port with 3 separations to a male with 2 separations. Went out and tested and my mic was very quiet but my buddies audio was great! Now after adding the adapter it works for my mic as well. I can probably explain better in a vid that I will post on my channel later on. Cheers!
Great video, and I bought some of the leads. Thanks. My only issue is I am using an osmo action 3 and at the end I need to convert to usb c ......sounds easy but 4 3.5mm to usb c leads later and none of them work. If anyone has done this I would be eternally grateful.

I tried the ‘Chinmounts’ ones first but it failed on the first ride, so I ordered one of these ‘RideTech’ ones and it’s still on my lid to this day

Nice job Bruce but I think I'll stick to my 3 speaker system in the Lid works fine not the perfect audio but it works 👍😊
Ooh, must watch this later……also worth noting we’ve just signed up with cardo. First batch of stock arriving Monday
Excellent mate, your ‘hobby’ is growing fast, well done 👏👍
@@teapotone cheers. Just watched it. Thanks. I have this set up currently but you’ve just answered my question with the attenuator cable. Never knew about this before. Cheers Bruce
I'm gonna try it out, thanks for the video!
Aye that’s certainly an option, but a bit too permanent for me personally. I need the option to remove the cabling etc at times 👍
That’ verry kind Kate 😘👍
Just a pro tip for when you're taping cables and wires. Ideally, you want to be working with electrical tape and you roll it tightly around what you're taping 1 inch in either direction before terminating back in the middle. This helps with adhesion and waterproofing.
Soon hopefully I will start filling my rides, this helps a lot,
Oh man this is perfect timing I totally needed this.
Also, I got a Movo gooseneck mic that is perfect for snaking from the media mod to the chin bar, obviously for solo recording only
I totally agree Andrew, I mentioned this to Cardo many times but they say they don’t think there’s a wide requirement for it 🤷♂️
@@teapotone wide recquirement or not, this is 2023, this should be easy to adapt. hell they could design these to just have an extra cable coming up where you can connect it straight to your gopro and use both mic and audio from your cardo. How hard is that? We should stop buying these stupid limited products till they actually come with something resembling 2023.
Very informative , thanks !
Yep the attenuator is for exactly that, the Comms audio comes out way hotter than the lavalier mic so peaks terribly
If the tascam has the ability to set “line level” or “mic level” on its inputs then the attenuator wouldn’t be necessary. Just set the input coming from the splitter for the speakers to line level and it will know not to amp it up so much.
Good stuff. I’m surprised it can’t all be done wirelessly by now. Perhaps in the future. 😎
haha yeah im also surprised by how complicated it all really is, guess the market isnt big enough to make it easier
The Future is here... Cardo updated

Instead if the earplugs you can also use shrinkwrap, but it will make undoing the connections more difficult
Great tip! But, would be nice if the camera has bluetooth connection to pair to comm system. My old 360 Fly camera do that, but I lose group communication when paired. I bougth a bluetooth mic adapter to test with my Sony cam.
Nice one Bruce. Thanks for sharing.
No worries Marc 👍
Where does the LAV mic go? Why not use another splitter from your cardo mic inside your helmet going to gopro and cardo? Thanks for all your info!
Cheers Bruce as just back from the WAW and couldn't get any other rider audio and this setup would have been great. Ta pal

Thanks a lot for this video ! cheers
Would it not be an idea to use heat shrink tubing to cover your external connections?
Do you need the lav mic and if you do which one do you use
Hi Andy,
Are you positive it’s not recording the Comms audio? It’s often very quiet and you need to boost that channel’s audio - see this vid
How To Adjust Audio - Group Chat is too Quiet
ua-cam.com/video/wu8eGoqsCEA/v-deo.html
Could you not use a longer splitter to the camera and keep all the wiring inside?
Yep if you can get one, but keep in mind that’s more cabling and connectors to hide within the lining of your lid 👍
Or maybe make it longer so that the connectors are on the side of the GoPro not the lid. Great vid as usual!!
Could you connect one of your spare cardos to a sound recorder and record everything that comes through?
You can but you’ll need the attenuator cable - I move tried this without the cable and that’s how I got the really distorted audio you hear as an example in this vid.
But yes, if you have a spare unit then you can do this 👍
@@teapotone I just wondered that's all Bruce, I thought it might be a way to keep all that off your lid. I'll leave all this gubbins to you pros though, no-one wants to listen to my inane ramblings lol.
🤣👍
Liquid Rubber and Heat Shrink Tubing might do a neater job than "gaffer tape" and mushy swimming ear plugs perhaps?
Aye for sure, if you want to go that far - there is more of a degree of permanency there with that though 👍
Your videos are great, always good info at the right level and speed (no useless fill) - can I ask re. the gopro mike in connection, is this not a weak point for water ingress ? or is the port itself waterproof.
Asking as I live in the uk, rode back from scotland last week with a sena 50c in the rain and bricked it so am looking for a new system ---- (yes It would do what you said about recording group chat I think as it perfectly records phone conversations straight onto the video and the camera is amazing, but its 'sena' voice recognition is rubbish and its not waterproof (but you can revert to using siri easily instead which covers most things)
The sena 50c has NO IP rating and is not even certified water resistant, never mind waterproof. so beware before buying..
As I am outside my return period I'm simply getting a replacement rather than refund so I may try and jimmy a homemade waterproof solution using the ear plugs or something
I use mouldable silicon putty around all connections to help weatherproof them, plus the Cardo units are fully waterproof.
Can’t understand why Sena don’t seem to think being waterproof is a priority for their products - completely useless here in the UK 🤷♂️
This is the putty I use - amzn.to/3MDgTQe
Nearly exactly what I was looking for....but not quite. I have Neotec 2 with Sean mesh installed and wondered if I could use Senna mic to provide the audio for chin mounted go pro. Didnt want to record group chat, just use the Sena mic as blogging mic, do you know if Can Sena broadcast to GoPro? I was thinking dji mic could make the solution wireless to go pro, however Send does broadcast via bluetooth.
Did you place both Cardo and Go-Pro mic's in the same spot in the helmet?
Roughly speaking yes - but they are located on opposite sides, just slightly off centre
Hi again Bruce im struggling to find your video explaining how to boost audio. Can you share a link please sir?
Hi Steve,
I’m just working on it now bud, should be live in a couple of days 👍
@@teapotone ok cool nice one. I use iMovie and simply lift the volume if needed but everything gets lifted including wind noise so not perfect.

Great video! Helping all of us motovloggers get our setups dialed in! Anyone out there know if there's a hack to get Sena 50s audio in? without using a mic to the speaker?
Hey! Thanks for the details
I'm using the cardo bold on my helmet with gopro10 and media mod. when i use the Line In audio input (to avoid the distortion from high winds speed) in the canera Mod it records everyone's voice except me. Any idea how to fix that?
Im using the same cables shown in the video.
Cheers!
You need a Lav mic in your helmet wired to the other input on the stereo splitter cable
@@teapotone hello
I am using a lav mic additional to the Cardo mic. The gopro footage still captures everyones voice except me unless its in standard audio mod (from the Mod options in the carema). The Line In option doesnt get my voice.
Let me know if u faced that b4 or know how to solve it.
Thanks!!
Teapot have you tried Cardo Edge with GoPro12 Bluetooth?
Cabels ordered Bruce👍 Thanks👌👏
I just got done doing it but when I tried to record it would be really static would you know as to why it does this? I don’t have the wiring spread apart like you could that be it?
Yes, if the wires are touching or entangled, then this can create a lot of static
Can you describe the noise you’re getting? - is it like a clicking noise?
@@teapotoneyes looking back at the footage from the phone and the gopro it self it sounds clicky
Nice vid mate.......very well done 👏
Now to work out how to do all those cables on my Shoei flip up helmet😂😂
Am not even going to ask how you came up with this !

If I wanted to run the cardo mic straight into the go pro would that work for any solo mission moto vlog ? thanks in advance
Very nice! I have one query, if in case I switched off Intercom then in that case still can I record audio into GoPro?
Its great when the Mic and headphones are seprate, What what if both are using one USB C poer to plug into the intercom? You need some sort of a 3 way USB C audio connector that moves audio both ways. Thats hard to find!
Hi, will that work with a cardo scala m8 ?
It’ll work with any Comms unit 👍
@@teapotone thanks pal
Question about the need for the breakout cable. I've been routing audio through a Sena for almost 2 years and considering making the switch to Cardo. In Sena, I can use the same microphone that's to the sena and not bother with a second mic. It requires having the "sidetones" setting on, and I have to record through mesh even when recording alone. Does Cardo not have these options?
Nope
NO don’t get a Rode mic, they run very hot so your audio will be even more distorted - I know because I did that 🤦♂️🤣
I find the cheap Lav mic’s off Amazon work well and don’t distort my audio and I have quite a loud, deep voice.
Apa nama pengganti headsheat yang terkoneksi ke cardo packtalk edge? Dimana link pembeliannya? Terima kasih
Also will this setup work with TRRS type of intercom connections?
Can you not use the boom mic on the Cardo to record audio into your gopro?
Thank you so much
I had purchased the XGP motorcycle Bluetooth communicator. I noticed after the fact that the speakers are tied into the mic wire. I can unplug the lapel mic for a boom mic.
But I can’t separate the speakers into a splitter. 😞
Unless XGP updates their wires or makes extra accessories, I won’t be able to record group chats to my GoPro.
Not sure bud, never watched any of his vids 😬
Is Attenuator Cable and Aux cable Same thing?
Can you use the cardo mic in your helmet for audio? Is it better quality than the mic you use for vloggin?
I think there’s something wrong with your description.
There’s no links for the three cables.
I have the Hosa Tech 3.5 Breakout cable. Along with the GoPro mic adapter. Looking to connect with my XGP motorcycle Bluetooth communicator.
I need the Rhino 3.5mm stereo cable (or comparable brand) along with the attenuator cable.
Not up to Blue Peter standard, lol, here's one I did earlier
Should this be able to record the audio of a phone call too? I don't have anyone with a comms unit to test it with so tried with a phone call. When I did this it records the audio of the person on the phone talking but not my voice too. When the call ends and my music starts again, it records the sound of the music and my voice if I speak.
I have a cardo packtalk slim, but for the life of me I can't get the voice activation to work even after the usual updates, language setting to UK, phone settings all OK. Any help would be appreciated.
Just to dot the i’s and cross the T’s - have you opened the app and made sure voice activation is turned on?
@@teapotone yes absolutely, strange thing is hey google works just not Cardo. Bizarre. I was hope yourself or one of your techy subscribers would have an idea.

Cheers!
After hours of messing around with it I finally found this comment and it helped me so much thank you!
ALWAYS use TRS connections to action cameras - 2 black rings on the 3.5mm jack NOT TRRS (3 black rings)
Great video, and I bought some of the leads. Thanks. My only issue is I am using an osmo action 3 and at the end I need to convert to usb c ......sounds easy but 4 3.5mm to usb c leads later and none of them work. If anyone has done this I would be eternally grateful.
