A Deadly Education has a great concept, but I think my biggest critique is how the reader is just thrown into the world. This is the second to last year of school and these characters are well entrenched in the Scholomance, but we don't get to see that same backstory

I completely agree with you. The concept as a whole is superb but you’re left fumbling to figure out the backstory yourself in which is awfully confusing when your main focus is on the current story and characters! Couldn’t agree more 😊

oh my god a deadly education is one of the worst books i've ever read so i'm glad you felt negatively about it too lol

Same and I rather liked uprooted and spinning silver by that author but deadly education was a Dnf almost instantly

Ooo I haven’t read any other books by that author but perhaps i’ll try them out in the future. I’m a little put off after my experience with Deadly Education!

I loved the Scholarmancer series! I listened to then on audible on a long driving trip and they were very atmospheric.

I did think to myself perhaps I’d prefer it in an audiobook format however the physical read really didn’t work for me!
