The Peter Brock pictured is the Australian racing great of the same name. Absolutely home grown in Melbourne ,Australia he started out racing a modified Austin A30 in sports sedan racing in the early 1960's, followed by a glittering career in Australian Touring car racing and International competition. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Brock. Ironically he died on September 8, 2006 while competing in a historic tarmac rally in Western Australia while driving a replica Shelby Daytona Coup.
Hmmm... Unearthing old racers with "potential" but without accomplishment is NOT a hard task. Absolutely none of De Tomaso's racers did worth a damn, and his production cars had serious flaws. I know, as I have owned two Panteras and a good friend still has a Mangusta. These cars SHOULD have been world-beaters, but they were not. You could make up for the deficiencies with skilled labor and money...but you didn't have to finish the job if you just bought a Porsche or Ferari to begin with! The Alpine and Bugatti are not exactly "lost forever", especially the Bug, which influenced later Bugatti designs.
Google, Peter Brock American. Years ago I heard a story about Peter Brock being based in the US and taking care of business designing with GMC. (yes I know he was with Shelby, too) Then I realised there were two Brocks.
As far as I know, The closest the two Brocks ever got was when the Australian died driving a car designed by the American . If they ever met I don’t know. The closest the Aussie got to designing race cars was when he built what was effectively a go cart out of used car parts to race around the farm paddock. Jack Brabham on the other hand was heavily involved in vehicle design and engineering and so too some of his sons.
How come the Sport 5000 has a UK registration and is RHD? You sometimes got the pronunciation of Alpine correct, alpeen. Hubert would be pronounced Ubear if he was French.
I can tell you the photograph at 2:16 is not Peter Brock who designed the Cobra Daytona and later founded BRE with Datsun. Otherwise the Sport 5000 is a very interesting car. I have not seen before. Very nice looking. Do you know what year this car came to the Monterey Historics? Cheers from Texas.

Ahah! I wondered as the "Peter Brock" shown did not at all look like the Peter Brock who innovated and lead Datsun's rise in racing.
Thanks, we need to remember our history, especially ones such as this
You got the wrong Brock mate
The sad irony is that the Australian Peter Brock died in a Targa WA event driving a vehicle derived from the other Peter Brock design.
@ yes indeed 🇦🇺❤️🇺🇸👍
22:50 about the aerolithe, contemporary designs were NOT "boxes on wheels". Who wrote this?
Why define a car 1oo% designed in metric in a measurements onĺy used in one country on this planet ??? And can not be OVERSTATED.........
Oh well.

wow, so many negative comments! Sure, there are some mistakes, but to all the armchair critics: get off your wise arses and produce a better video
Peter Brock the American....Not Peter Brock the Australian ( As per the photograph )

Today welding magnesium is no longer any problem.(Electron is a brand name 4 magnesium...)
The Aerolithe actually reverted to OLDER technology (riveting) due to the fact it could not be easily welded. So not cutting edge technology at all.

What is up with all the photo's displayed backwards? It is very distracting.
what a ballsup. why are they lost forever? did they all crash in an airplane on the way to a rock concert? you pull yourselves
I read the comments and stopped watching the video before I got really annoyed.
Damn, that metalwork, on what purports to be the cars rear suspension (3:43), is crap.
Your pronuciations are atrocious! smh
