  • I unbox my new Spot X GPS device and walk thru the process to upgrade my Spot 2 account to the Spot X! Hope to get out and try the tracking feature but so far this will fit the bill. I chose the Spot over the Inreach devices as I didn't need the mapping features of the others as I already have a GPS, I was familiar with the Spot devices, and I didn't need the full voice features of a satellite phone.

I almost bought the Garmin InReach. But what sealed the deal for me was... ...the qwerty keyboard. 😎It comes in handy when typing and YES... It reminds me so much of my old BlackBerry. 🤷🏾‍♂️👍🏾👍🏾

I also upgraded my Gen 2 to this new device only to learn that it does not sync with the spot app. I took it back.

How long does the battery last after a full charge?
    Is the battery user-replaceable?
    Thanks.

I have not been able to determine how long it will last on a charge yet. I only used my old spot once with tracking mode on for a week normally my use is limited to daily check ins requiring the device to be on for about a half hour each day. The Spot X's battery is not user replaceable but you can recharge it from a usb compatible charger.

Interesting....but..... as a non tech senior citizen all the computer sync stuff scares me some. I have the original SPOT 1 I guess which only works about 50% of the time but it is easy. Maybe I can get my kids/grandkids to help with all the sync set up stuff..

Glad the video helped you. I have an older spot too and it worked almost 100% for me when i used it. I needed the two way and thought to give this one a test. So far I am ok with it but really have not had the opportunity to really test it. If you do not need the two way communication - nothing beats the original one! I wanted a device that did not require my cell phone to be used so this fit the bill.
