@@fappingmachine100 - He may be the original, but he is a long way from being the best who performed this song. This rendition, I doubt, will ever be topped. We will never know because Eva Cassidy never did a cover for it, as far as I know. I am sure hers would have been breath taking. I will have to check and see when this song was written - as Eva died in 1996.

I can't quit listening to the music that these two artists do to my emotions. It's like childhood through my entire of lifetime. I have memories of my entire life. I had forgotten that I wrote this comment... Haha, I wish I could marry him, It's over now... I'm not even sure if it started. We were friends for years. Clearly he had other entanglements or problems he did not feel at liberty to talk about with you, and maybe he was too much of a gentleman to string you along and give you false hopes. If he cared nothing about you at all, he would never have come so close to betraying himself. Maybe there was someone else he feared hurting as well. Fate or destiny, possibly has other plans for you, for him, or both. Have faith that if it was meant to be, it will happen, and if not, you will find someone else with great musical taste, although I'll agree it'll be hard for that guy to beat his sensitivity.

Just found out that the song is actually written about the crematoriums and all the horrific history around them...written about all those people that the Nazi were forcing to play music, while watching others passing by on their way to be killed..."burning violin"..."dance me through the panic"..."let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone"..."dance me to the end of love"...and I thought it was just a beautiful love song...I'll never hear it the same way again....
The Civil Wars was known for their dark music. There are very few songs they do that are "happy" Most are about death or loneliness or divorce.
Indeed. I had exactly the same feelings. The lyrics actually made total sense (other than sounding as written particularly for love) after reading the history behind the song.
Also must Thank the artists Joy Williams and John Paul White. I'm so glad these two found each other in the world and made the miracles that they do. Their beautiful songs, stories and music got me through hard times and made them a magical experience. I also must say how envy what you both share in one another to make such incredible music with beauty of the soul is just that out of a fairy tale what comes out and what I've always wished to have myself someday with another. :) ~ Samantha P.
