The SSV Normandy SR-2 is indeed one of the most amazingly detailed and well thought out hero ships in Sci-Fi. While not the biggest or strongest, she has the capabilities where it counts. I, like many, hope to learn if ME4 will reveal the Normandy's whereabouts.
The Mass Effect Universe seems funny. Here's this ship that is built to be very aerodynamic, but you can't really fly in on most planets. So we designed this shuttle as a little dropship. It is shaped like a brick and yet somehow flies decently enough that the Alliance and Cerberus both use them frequently.
@@marcusblackwell2372 its space, aerodynamics aren't as important there as there isn't any air particles that fuck around with flying, just the occasional rare bit of space dust.
I also have always had a problem with non Mass Relay FTL. According to how its described, the Mass Effect field lowers the mass of anything its formed around. However, even if you reduce the mass of an entire ship to that of a hydrogen atom (or less), it still takes Infinite Energy to push that mass to Light Speed, much less FTL (haven't seen anything to 'fix' this description, like the ME field makes an object 'negative mass', thus it can be pushed beyond light speed or anything).
@@bthsr7113 Yet the capital ship weapons are way underpwoered. Always wanted to see the small arms portrayed in game the way the lore states they are. For A projectile the size of A few grains of sand to kill it would have to be moving at imperceptible velocities ....... like it state in the lore.
@@AKlover I mean, the Everest class' main gun has an output of 456 kilotons a minute. That's not nothing. Does seem at odds with out a merc company's mass driver was able to carve a message into a planet visible from orbit though.

Love your videos mate! There’s an incredible amount of knowledge in these. Just had an idea for a video, how about Shepard’s revival? Maybe a breakdown of the possible sciences behind how someone could come back from death.
Never saw this channel until this video appeared on my feed. Guess my surprise when I heard this majestic, and very familiar, voice! Never suscribed to a channel that quick! Awesome work as ever!
I wish Bioware would flesh out more on the Normandy. For example, what's its actual dimensions? Fans have theorized based on the games provide but an official answer would be great. Like how you mentioned the GUARDIAN lasers. Alot of people forget that fact.
I absolutely LOVE your content. Just found you yesterday and I can’t get enough. I’d love to have a Diablo lore video. =D I know there isn’t much in your wheelhouse of materials engineering but you just do such good work!
In all accounts a hero ship, though how they portray the ship reminds me of the Millennium Falcon, and they did it with both ships in my opinion. Though the SR-2 was more advanced. So, for me in Star Wars terms was a freighter moving up to a corvette, at least that is how I think of the upgrade. Though the ship itself and the lore behind it made the ship have a personality to it, including EDI, which I thought was a nice touch, considering they are fighting against an AI system that keeps organics in check, while EDI was a V.I. program that Shepard found on Luna and developed into a fully sentient AI system. The lore is outstanding and really brings the ship to life, even just exploring the ship gives the feel that the ship itself is a character in Mass Effect. Thank you for the breakdown. Awesome Video.
Seeing that wall with all the names, that must’ve been a “go for broke” bad ending if I can see several teammates across the three games also being dead
I think you should do these videos on the main channel. There is defiantly overlapping interest with the halo community and these things. I could totally see installation00 reaching out into other universes and assessing their technology, maybe mass effect is one of those universes you aborted to fuel your installation

Just curious, but what class do you all main in mass effect and what is your moral alignment? I'm a sentinel main, and a "Paragade" (Mostly paragon, but with some renegade choices).
Mostly paragon, but with a pinch of renegade to grease the wheels of combat. Like, if you're monologuing over a gas line, I WILL shoot it and capitalize the chaos. If the enemy crime syndicate is working on a gunship, I WILL sabotage it. If you're a crime boss endangering a kid of a crew member, I WILL go full psycho cop. If you're a reporter having trouble coping with the state of things, I'm not going to smack you around. Soldier for guns.
According to the lore the Thanix became a mass produced item by the HSA by the time they lead the Invasion to retake Earth even down to the hand held weapons used by the Infantry, at least that's my understanding of that read.
Hold up....did you say ANTHEM is getting some love? I was sooooo pumped for that game, especially considering that BioWare was doing it AND I live in Edmonton! What an abject failure it was but I really think that there's something in that franchise and I hope they can do something good with it.
You can't (sort of). Lasers in mass effect are specifically stated to operate exclusively on the Infrared and UV spectrums, with the former being more common. Both of which are only detectable throughthermal imaging. This is why you never see ships firing lasers in mass effect. You can't see them with the naked eye.

I just hope she can actually fight if she's still operational.
3:42 still love that cerberus put those lights on such a slow timer to turn on as the camera moves along for the standing-still Shepard and Joker

I think the aerodynamics were just indented for space flight (after all, that's where most of the flying is)

We dismissed those Claims
Whether you prefer the shepherd special that actually fought or the alliance refit, so many of us have fond memories for this ship.
This is awesome, you should do some of the small arms weapons technology from mass effect. I think there's some really interesting stuff in there
Agreed. I mean, from a lore perspective, the Mass Effect guns are both fascinating and TERRRIFYING.

Reminder that Tali stole the schematics for Normandy's stealth drive and that you shouldn't let Qurians onto your ship.
Hope you keep doing this man! Mass effect is practically begging for this type of content.
You even did the Normandy music. Bless you. I love that track.

I'll do some research. I think I can give a very accurate size.
25:00 : Huh, all this time and I never connected that that is what the probes look like close up 😊
Just like they did with the Ebon Hawk of their previous franchise, Bioware again managed to make a starship one of their most beloved characters.

the SR2 reveal was such a great moment theres almost no game now that gives the same feeling that Mass Effect did
Thank you, I needed this level of detail for somethings I’m doing with my next fan project
This is awesome! Love the most detailed breakdowns! Halo and mass effect are my favorite games.
I never realized how much I needed this. ❤
Yes!!!!! Most detailed for the rest of the best games!!!!!😍😍 thank you for this!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed!

It's funny how in the lore the Thanix weaponry is standard throughout the Alliance forces and Turians but is not shown in the games.
It isn’t standard though. It’s an experimental technology that’s probably exclusive to the most cutting edge vessels.

Lasers are invisible. So I have no idea how anyone can even see them or how that even works in Mass Effect, or Star Wars, or even Star Trek.
Wrong. Lasers can be visible and invisible. A blue or green laser is perfectly capable of setting fire or worse, if powerful enough.
