Helge to me felt always like Picasso. He learned all the fundamentals about music, is able to paint the most beautiful realistic painting, if he wants to. But he decides to consciously let out his inner child and makes people laugh out loud in a way only few people can. I'm guessing, he wouldn't be able to, if he wasn't this good in playing music.

Agreed, most comedic musicians turn into instrument playing clowns, just gimmicky. It is tough for them to come across serious musically, especially with humoristic lyrics; it almost always comes across choppy and unbalanced. Only few like Schneider or Frank Zappa can pull it off and sound good.
For those who don't know... Helge is a also a comedian. You can hear that in his music. But he's also a super talented musician. Especially him playing keys is amazing!
