originally and traditionally kusudama origami has been sewn or glued and has multiple pieces of paper. actually originally the kusudama's were made from herbs and flowers if you want to get technical. this is a great tutorial. thanks
I started watching the video and realised I’ve made a single unit of this design before - should be super easy to make the ball. Can’t wait! ☺️ Great tutorial!
My first kusudama!!! And I really like it! But now I should say that making kusudamas is much longer and need more time then original origami from one piece of paper
Beautiful! I am a bit tired of the kusudama that I have been making so I think I will start to make these. I don't understand why some people are so upset about the glue. So what if there is glue .... it is still pretty .... and I don't think there is any way to connect the pieces by folding together in any fashion. You could sew them together I guess but that would be a bit tricky. Thank you.
this is a great tutorial Jo, I think that it's ok to use glue in this case, using it does not mean it quit of being origami because each piece it's make in origami just the assembly part use glue :)
yeah, this video is very very old, I was still learning how to make the tutorials. If you watch some of my recent videos you'l see a huuuge difference!
That is how origami is perceived as it became known and familiar to the western world. Origami traditional used various shapes of paper, papercuts and glue as well.
kusudama's are modular origami, so the 'only one piece of paper' rule doesn't apply to them. also, it's common to glue or sew up the parts. gluing AND cutting is another thing - it's papercraft then.. it's a nice one.. this one.. it's easy to make and requires only 6 pieces of paper. I really hate kusudamas with 60 or so parts.. so, thanks for the 'how to'! :)
@nikeroyal13 just use ordinary printer paper. fold it along a diagonal so that the top edge meets with one at the side. then cut off the extra bit at the bottom to make a square. this is all i do. if i want a smaller piece i measure off the size i want.
hey guys origami CAN be with more pieces just like the great stellated dodecahedron so if you dont want to glue it then watch origaminuts video be cause he has improwed that it dont needs glue
What size square did you begfin with? and what type of paper? It looks like regular photocopy paper and not origami paper. Am I correct? It is very beautiful.... thank you. I might try this one.
@CuddleTheKitty Actually you're right but it's not uncommon to glue such pieces of Art. It's a so called multipart origami. Even great masters or to be precise especially great masters of origami like Robert J Lang use more than one piece of paper for some models
I am sorry I voted against. I actually agree with you. First time I read your note, I thought you were saying the girl making this video wasn't worth... so sorry, I apologise
That's not Japanese. This is Fröbel. The German man who revolutionised the education of children before they come to school, who invented the kindergarten. He also invented many decorative falt techniques. For example the one showed here. Please inform yourself better next time.
It should be preferably without gluing or cutting the paper, and also using only one piece of paper. But I think these are not strict rules :)
wow its so easy to do it, finished it in no time! thanx it helped me a lot for my project.

Should show the model at the beginning as well as the end, and should give the name of the model. Clear instructions, though.

Winning moment when you complete something origami: I finished life!
Beautiful! Thank you.
@jonakashima yes it is origami rules, you have to make your paper self, NO cutting at all, nothing other use than your hands an paper.

modulars dont need glue, but some of them are hard to assemble without it.
why would anyone ever dislike this?

Who is here in 2024 😢😢
@nikeroyal13 if you use a square of paper (of any sort) it must be a square for this origami and fold it as shown in this video yes it will work.
@CuddleTheKitty
