    I had that leg saver in the middle between the heat shield installed on my 2019 XC, but it is no longer necessary on my 2022 XE… I got the 900 and 400 also and the heat is part of the high pipe Scramblers (well not the 400 here since they knowingly put a low exhaust on to avoid the issue)… anyway the high exhaust is a styling exercise… I fully bought the bikes knowing about the heat from the high pipes on the right side and you can feel the heat from the cylinders on the other side… really a non issue for me anymore…

    Another pro video, Josh! My gently used '19 already had the zhard slipons, and I would later learn the zhard decat. I've gone on more than a few group adv rides, and I get lots of compliments on the sound. I think they all sound lovely, regardless of the exhaust config. Thanks for the info on the heat shield too. Will snatch one of those!

    So I bought the 2019 Scrambler XE, but all the mods that were available on this bike's release have all dried up, and the only exhaust I could find is with Zard. I have a decat, and the Zard homologated exhaust (Euro 4), and it sounds amazing. Plus very little heat on my daily commute.. granted, it is still there, but not as much as it used to be with the cat installed.

    • @lifeofascrambler
      @lifeofascrambler  2 роки тому +1

      Wow really? The slash cuts I got are from Total Triumph UK, the headers / decat pipes I’ve seen at Verex, an Australian mob in Tasmania who I thought were producing lots, try them if you’re interested?

      @@lifeofascrambler hehe, I live in Ireland.. and VAT is terrible when ordering stuff from outside EU
      I use my bike on road, for commuting, and slash cuts wouldn't cut it (excuse the pun).
      Also, I got a shank exhaust from TEK UK, and had to get the 2nd baffle for the neighbours, but the overrun even with the cat was horrendous.. much nicer with the zard full exhaust

    TotalTriumph have updated their slash exhaust:
    "This exhaust now includes dual baffles fitted as standard. This is mainly for the 2022 onwards models, which no longer have the CAT in the header pipes so the baffles ensure noise levels are acceptable, but also that enough back pressure remains to maintain correct performance."

    Josh, another great video and the timing was perfect. I used your video to install an arrow exhaust on my 2022 xe. I noticed a little bit of engine elasticity loss around 5000rpm. Perhaps I should install a dna filter and remap it.

    • @lifeofascrambler
      @lifeofascrambler  Рік тому +1

    Great video as always, Josh! Really appreciate what you do for the community.
    Any chance you'll do a video about removing the wheels, fixing a flat, and reinstalling the wheels?
    I really struggle with my XE, and that's in the comfort of my garage! I'm fearful of the process when out in the backcountry.
    Keep up the excellent work!

      Thanks! Yeah I think I’ve got a video on tires but I don’t think I took off a wheel in that and I can’t remember what I did with the wheel removal footage that I’m sure I shot! It might have to wait til I get my other hard drive but it’s a great question!

    • @lifeofascrambler
      @lifeofascrambler  Рік тому +1

      Yeah I’ve got baffles in mine, no fibreglass wrapping and it helps a bit! We ran a DB meter on them last week and compared the TEC, slash cuts no cat and slash cuts cat in with baffles and had some interesting results. Video to come soon!

    Okay, I've just purchased a 2022 XE and was looking at installing the straight pipes with baffles...which means I'll be deleting the catalytic convertor. You stated, "it can damage your bike if you run pure straight through pipes". Can you tell me more?

    • @lifeofascrambler
      @lifeofascrambler  2 роки тому +3

      I can’t tell you because I’m not a tech, but as far as I’ve been told it relates to potentially overheating or bending exhaust valves, which can be mitigated with a specific tune. I would recommend talking to a mechanic before doing that mod

      The new set from Total Triumph Slash cut has the baffles built in for the 2022 model plus years. Also British Customs have a set for 2022 plus models.

    Is there any data or research to support pairing the exhaust mod with an ECU flash and/or Power Commander???

    • @lifeofascrambler
      @lifeofascrambler  Рік тому

      Great question, I’ve been told by many triumph specialists as well as mechanics that a change in exhaust needs a change in tuning - which has been the same for a long time (includes carbie bikes) but I personally have taken them at their word, as specialists, so I haven’t sought out specific data. Why do you ask?

    Sorry I get a wee bit confused now , so is it possible to put on a slip on exhaust of a 2019 XE to a 2022 XE for me the new mod slip on exhaust is too noisy and I want to keep the Original genuine look of the bike.
    Is it possible to put on a 2019 Euro 4 slip on then ?

      Decat alone is fine, the problem is if you decat and then have straight pipes with no backpressure as I’ve been told it can damage the exhaust valves, especially if it’s not tuned to suit the O2 flow through the exhaust. That’s what I’ve been told by triumph mechanics
