Grand National Roadster Show 2023 - GNRS Car Show In Pomona
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 лют 2023
- The Grand National Roadster Show is back at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. This video features the indoor display vehicles including the ones competing for America's Most Beautiful Roadster. I filmed all the halls including the Suede Palace, the Car Culture Deluxe hall, and this year's Keep On Truckin display. So many great hot rods, custom cars, muscle cars, lowriders, pickups, vans, and other vehicles of interest at this show.
Filmed on February 3, 2023

Real nice video for GNRS Show! Thanks for your work in providing those who can't attend in person.
You’re welcome
Great coverage thankyou ! i’m a retired Professional Woodworker with a passion for Vintage Cars ,Boats ,and Motorcycles it’s been a dream of mine to do something similar to the Toadster you featured i think you said it was a Ford that kind of had that Town and Country style full disclosure i’m not much of a MetalFabricator and i thought that my Woodworking Skills could cover up my Flaws and Screw Ups i do think that in64 Chevy made the Chevy 2 /Nova in a 2 door Wagon my Grandfather had one with a 4 onthe Floor and a 283 my Dad loved taking me for rides in that thing because my Granparents lived in the Catskills Mountains of New York and my Dad grew up in that area so he knew the winding RuralRoads very well he loved getting on the Pedal at all the stop signs to get the Cars Posi to break the tires free and get the car sideways it’s funny because at the same time my Grandmother had a Maverick with a 3 Speed 302 that was fairly quick
Appreciate your film, comments, and effort. Thank you kind sir! Sooner-Bo...
Thanks. This was a big show to cover.
Thanks as always looking good ☺️ Lee
I’ll be going Sunday with the family to share the hot rod passion. Hopefully they see my obsession. I pray that the kids will catch the bug 🙂
I used to bring my daughter back before I started filming videos. She never got into cars, but she does love my Pacer. Told her she can have it when she’s old enough.
😀👍❤️
@@MikeFrankovich “you’ll be sssssorrrry”. Start building a new one now. When you are not getting any holiday or Christmas presents for her, I’m sure she will understand and appreciate your pacer more than ever”.
SAUDAÇÕES AQUI DO BRASIL.
When It Comes To The Best In Car Show Presentations......MIKE FRANKOVICH Will Be In The Hall Of Fame .....Stay with it Mike.....
Thank you. This one is always a ton of work, but worth it.
Thanks for this as I live in the UK so it's great to see the all the fantastic machines on display. Still on my bucket list to attend in person.
They get spectators from all over the world. I'm very lucky It's close to home for me.
outstanding thanks Mike
You're welcome. This one was a challenge to film.
la roadster show is 2nd to none ! not going to find more hard work combined with major dollars anywere on the planet !!!
This is one I always look forward to every year. The builders bring out their best cars.
Excellent coverage for us who are not able to attend. Thank you very very much.
Thanks. GNRS is an important one and I realize many who want to be there can't attend.
Thanks Mike. Great comments showing your passion and knowldege. A great watch!
Wow, always awesome automobiles and the best builders showing their craftsmanship!!
This show draws the best in the world.
Truly American Art on display, Thanks for your effort for posting. There are probably more 32 roadsters now than there were when I was born in 42. In 57 a fairly decent rodded one would go for a couple hundred bucks.
You can get a brand new steel '32 and build it from a catalog. Still originals will always be more desirable.
26:39... the blue on that car...omg
31:07 the Red😍
Thank you for the tour
No problem
Great Video, Mike !!.....Thank you for taking all of us to the Show !..
Thanks for watching.
Thank you Mike for doing the video taking the time good job I can't get out to California I'm from Minnesota got to see a lot of beautiful cars thanks to all the people that put all that hard work into their automobiles without passion this would never happen
Glad you enjoyed it
Mike, I very much appreciate your videos. I've never been to GNRS and the quality video feels like I'm right there.
Thank you.
Thank you verry much for the invite 🤙🏼👊🏻
Gr Robert
Thanks for watching.
Mike querido en Argentina esto que vos mostras no lo vemos ni en sueños gracias querido
I've owned a 55 210, 56 Chev Convert, 57 Chev wagon, 59 El Camino, 63 Impala, 63 Tempest, 29 Ford pickup, 55 Ford pickup and lots
of other 60's cars and trucks...if only I had kept them.
MIND Boggling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing !!!!
You're welcome
😍Enjoyed!!!!!!!👍
Thanks
@@MikeFrankovich Anytime Mike!
Axle and the rest of the Shifters did an amazing job in the Suede Palace this year. A lot of fun.
The Suede Palace is always a highlight of the show.
The Suede Palace...always my favorite hall.
GREETINGS MIKE
They are cars JEWELS 💎
THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEOS 🙏👍😍♥️
Yes they are!
Thanks for filming for us that can't make it and doing it in a timely fashion.
It's a marathon to get it shot, edited, and uploaded. Did the same last year. So many who can't attend are looking for videos from the show.
Thanks Mike
Thanks for the video
You bet
Thanks again Mike, much appreciated!!
Any time!
Thanks again Mike for hitting these shows for some of us who live out a state.. See some awesome rides. Good luck tomorrow on bringing your van w/ buddies.. Hopefully get you to that 15K subs here soon..
I’ll get the day two video up in a few days. The van did fine.
@@MikeFrankovich right on.. Yeah the first one was inside GNSR is almost 2 hours so lots of content to keep me busy watching. Thanks again
Very cool! One of these days I’m gonna make it to some of the west coast shows. Thanks for posting.
If you're going to hit a west coast show, this is the one to attend.
that 57 Ranchero @1:38:47 represents the famous Tiago ranchero. Early custom legend!
Many of the vehicles in that hall were famous show trucks/vans.
Thank you Mike for your outstanding coverage, It actually felt like I was there walking with you!!👍
My pleasure!
A very nice coverage; it is truly appreciated.
Thanks
Mind boggling paint & fab, glad I'm not a judge. Shout out to the "Legend Bruce Meyer". I can't even pick a favorite!
I've been coming to this show for many years even before I started filming videos and I'm always blown away.
I only wanted 95% of the cars you video'd ...LOL..great commentary BTW..
Thank you.
nice to meet you Mike!
LOVE THE VIDEOS MIKE.
Thanks
Thanks 👍 got the video.
You're welcome
Geez Mike! This show was a feast for the eyes bro! WOW!
Tons to see and plenty of variety.
Gosh I wished you filmed more in the first thunderbird roadster. Most definitely the winnah in my opinion. Thanks for your time
Unfortunately I only had so much time to get through the show.
That Red 57’ Cameo that won is my Uncle Pats truck. 3:31
Such an amazing build.
I can't wait for somebody to do the underrated 97-98 Lincoln Mark 8, or any market for that matter of fact.....
Another great video Mike, I'm surprised I haven't run into you yet at one of these.
It’s a huge show and pretty crowded for Friday. I’ll be back there tomorrow.
Thanks for filming and posting this!
You're welcome
It was good to see the show so well attended! I drove 60 miles to see it on Saturday but the streets going to the parking area were so clogged with stopped traffic that I headed on to my next destination, returning Sunday well before the 10 AM show opening. The LA Roadster Show this past June was barely a shadow of its former self...those guys might consider a change in leadership.
Shows that car shows can still be a huge draw. Folks come from all over the globe for this event. I did talk to a spectator on Saturday who said it took 45 minutes to get from I-10 to the parking entrance on Fairplex Drive. My advise is to get there early in future years.
@@MikeFrankovich You almost need to book a room,& make it a couple days early to fully enjoy this one. Thanks again for a job well done !
,@@MikeFrankovich q😂
Love the video all types of vehicles 👍😎👍
They do have something for everyone.
thanks mike. good job
You're welcome!
Holy crappy! All are incredible.
Lots to see at this show.
Right on, great job Mike.Waving from,Terre Haute, Indiana
Stay warm and watch some car videos!
👍❤️😎🇺🇸
Very cool video. I miss going to that show
This show is always great
Thanks mike from Aussie great work
You're welcome
Some really fine examples of roadsters, I would be afraid to drive most of them on the street in traffic. I prefer more original hot rodded roadsters when the customizers could do much on a limited budget. Those days are gone for the most part but there is room for all in the sport! Thanks for the video.
The award contenders are just one part of the show. They do draw a wide variety of hot rods and customs. Thanks for watching.
I love your videos.
Keep your chin up!
Thank you! Will do!
Thanks for your videos for those of us that want to be there but can't you do an excellent job keep it going !
Thank you, I will
This was awesome Thanks. Just Subscribed 👍
Awesome, thank you!
Lots of work today both of you 👍
Definitely got my steps in.
Great video 👍
Thank you
Thanks for doing this for us unwashed.
Not one Yugo! We were robbed!
I know Concours d'Lemons does a feature on Communist Block cars.
Thank you, lots of walking
You're welcome
Lotta talent!
The best builders bring their cars to this show.
@@MikeFrankovich Gem of a show, thanx!
Nice camera work and commentary. Thank you!
Thank you too!
You're welcome.
Love your videos but because of all background noise PLEASE always include close captions!
UA-cam will close caption the videos automatically. It's tough doing indoor shows, especially in these old fairground halls. There's no acoustics and the sounds echo. I do get there when the show opens on Friday when there is less of a crowd.
Wow! Thanks for filming this show! Too far for us to get to from France, but some superb cars there! I'd have like to see more of the Ford convertible at 1:10;00, that was my sort of thing! Great stuff though and paint jobs I can only dream about!
I that he looks at what everyone is Doing. He knows we like bigger wheels on the back.
Observation:
Freeze @ 4:40 - I like where he is filming . . . 10 feet back so I can enjoy the car full view AND some booth vendors.
Hey that's just me (Mike probably doesn't read this though)
Got to the gates early so I could get in when they opened and before the crowds arrived. I don't always have an opportunity to film with few spectators and thus can't always step back. I have tried to get press passes/early entry for this event in the past only to be told that they didn't consider UA-cam to be real media.
@@MikeFrankovich I was just giving you the business. But was that a double-chilli chilli-cheese dog in a car's reflection mounted to your GoPro.?
Must have taken some time in editing , Thankyou 😃👍
It's not too bad on the editing side. The filming is the real work.
Beautiful but of course undrivable. Wipe, rub polish and trailer to the next show.
You flew all the way out there eh. I'm about...5 hours drive from there, maybe next year I'll have a passport in time
I live about 25 miles away. No flying required.
@@MikeFrankovich I'm an idiot. While I've heard of this show, I was thinking of autorama in Detroit. From onatrio 🇨🇦
Thanks for the vid!
No problem!
going over right now 🔥🔥🔥📸
One guy said it took him 45 minutes to park. Hope you can make it.
I park cross street next hotel
At 72yo, I have grown fairly tired of the "catalog cars", those that can be built with almost no fabrication skills needed. It's not that these cars aren't beautiful and extremely well built, they are! But sadly, even crate engine swaps are becoming predictable and somewhat boring as well.
So now I find myself enjoying show car paint jobs. The sheer amount of colors, and knowing that 95% of a paint job is in the preparation, etc!
Imagine being the painter of a show car, maybe going for that one more coat of a Candy color, and then something happens to the paint job! That risk vs reward thing.
Show car painting is not for the faint hearted. It actually leans more towards a gambler's mentality!
As a show attendee, I really enjoy all that the paint industry has to offer. All those remarkable colors and products! That's what I enjoy now!...
Thanks for the show coverage!...
Great show and video 👍 I also filmed on the same day as you 😊
Friday is my favorite day to go.
Have a wonderful day Mike
Thanx again for another show, but I suppose you're trying to get as many in as you can -but...were it me, I'd film like I look at shows when I can attend:
Approaching, I take in the theme of the car/truck/bike/boat, and examine the wheels if unusual (PAUSE). .next are either motor or dashboards, which I love ( PAUSE), beit retro, racetech, futuristic or just different, then a front and/or rear view. I tried to stop vid to see more details, but you tend to move constantly and it is usually blurred.
Not dissing you one bit, just comments from an old biker gearhead!

First time I've seen that.

Mike Thank You
When possible please tell us the engine used in each vehicle
Also a website with a schedule of events for 2023👍
I put a tentative list of shows I'm planning to hit in the video description
rare car
Make mine a 56 Belair 4door... white and candy apple red and a 350ci small block... rather have that than a Ferrari!!.
Defiantly more reliable than a Ferrari
What's it run on?
Time!
I personally don't like lowriders much the paint and body time on Samba more insanely great jobs
I've attended most of the So Cal car shows since the mid-70's, but I always enjoy your walk-thrus....discovering details I missed. You'll notice that most spectators are in my age group...old. Let's enjoy this before the young people covert old car shows into their style....squatty 4-door imports with farty mufflers and no springs.
My largest viewer age group is 65+ according to UA-cam.
Mike, I know you can’t please everyone on your coverage of car events. I appreciate your coverage, however, yep here it comes….
You missed mentioning or a second pass on a hemi powered bare metal roadster, I think it was a 32, but it had a Hudson “ Magic Hand” shifter on column. It is the same pre-select shifter the 36-37 Cord used.

I am so glad the "time-out kids" fad has run its course. It was like a lethal virus in car shows for about twenty years. Ugh!
We used to make fun of them when it was a current "fad." Folks come to shows to see cars, not glorified Cabbage Patch Kids blocking the grille.
Sad part is most of these cars will never be driven. The soul is lost at that point.
to much background NOISE
No freaking clear coat…just use WAX! When it gets neglected again, re-waxing is easier than fixing the freaking clear coat!

I shoot in 4K so it comes up clear. Many of my viewers watch on TV.
Roadster pickups are just not my type.
Still with the horrible trend of puce Hot Rods.🤢🤮
It doesnt take any talent or brains to build most of these cars. you can buy all the parts for most of them from a catalog. with the exception of the little rambler. very boring
