- Multiple tornadoes hit Oklahoma in early May 2024, causing damage in Barnsdale, Bartlesville and more communities in the state.
from canada, i cant imagine living in oklahoma where this stuff happens, its scarier by far than any snowstorm like we get up here. I pray for those who lost their homes and businesses.
I agree, them 🌪 tornados are seeming like they are starting to hit oklahoma more at night time right at midnight or around 2am when people are in bed asleep it catches them off guard. Maybe they should sleep in their in their storm shelters at night when it's storming since them monster size tornados are sneaking up on them right at midnight now.
They are everywhere here. Had a few in Michigan yesterday. To be honest, it beats living in hurricane areas. You can't escape anything with a storm a few hundred miles wide. Tornados are so violent and dangerous but for the most part you can avoid them if you have the correct tools and mindset. For starters learning how to read different weather maps/radars. Radarscope is an amazing tool for those interested.
My heart and prayers go out to everyone during this tornado outbreak. I remember when the state of Alabama was in the same boat as you are back in April 27,2011. It was horrible... And terrifying... 62 tornadoes touch ground, 252 people lost their lives within 24hours. I'm so sorry for everyone that lost everything... I know what you are going through, because I was one of those people... I'm lucky to be alive to say this 😢😢😢😢😢😢
There's days and weeks of foretelling for a hurricane plenty of time to evacuate and prepare tornados very unpredictable. They hit fast and hard @sturvinmurvin9408
so you sain they occur during non cyclone seasons?????????
It is Northern Hemisphere countries Cyclone season now started from April 2024 to November 2024 every year if it is sudden formations means it is MAN MADE THEN CRUEL AGAIN@@sondraedwards5205
In Barnsdall OK, when that siren was taken out but still blowing and winding down as the power went out, its...just incredibly frightening. And i just worry that people thought the Tornado threat was over because the siren happened to be taken out by the Tornado. I worry, but Oklahoma is smart and used to this.
Im just happy this many people made it out ok.
Awareness saved many lives this day.
RIP Barnsdall Thunderbolt.
Lifetime resident of Oklahoma. Seen numerous tornadoes. Don't have the foggiest clue what a long or strong 'RFD' is. And why is he yelling so much?
Rear Flank Downdraft, it’s just what it sounds like. As for the yelling, I’m not sure. A lot of them do it these days and it’s REALLY annoying.

Thank you for asking. Texan here. Have been in tornadoes but had no idea what RFD was either. Btw...not been in tornadoes like this. Much smaller thankfully.
Rear Flanking Downdraft. The significance of an RFD is this is the part the storm that generally cretes tornadoes.
And as a trained storm spotter, ive had my fill of storm chasers. Kind Of the difference between competent lawyers and ambulance chasers
An RFD is a Rear Flanking Downdraft. Its significance is that this is the portion of the storm that produces tornadoes.
Also as a trained storm spotter (someone who understands, observes and reports dangerous weather conditions to the NWS and Emergency responders) I have little use for the majority of storm chasers. They are not performing a vital service. Theyre adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers who are only interested in a rush. The weather equivalent of ambulance chasers.
I was down the road from the Hampton inn in bartlesville. Had to close for Burger king and didnt think my night would have went like that.
Barnsdall
I cant imagine how terrifying this would be... Praying everyone was safe!
I’m so sorry for those affected.
It always amazes me how the next day after these major storms, it's sunny and no clouds in the sky.
Sucks all the moisture with it! This is what happened after Hurricane Andrew back in 92....
Was the RFD very strong?
Bartlesville wasn't hit bad, a few small shops and a hotel. Barnsdall that was just hit a few weeks ago was destroyed. People saying it's just stuff 🙄, no it's people's lives. Everything is lost, baby pictures, grandparents pictures and children pictures. Years of hard work gone in seconds. This tornado started about 10 miles away from my house by lake keystone and moved NE thru the night. Of course everyone saying they'll help the victims and the governor saying the state will help them rebuild, we're Oklahoma and we help people 🙄 blah blah blah. These people's lives were destroyed and people that haven't gone through this don't have a clue. Thankfully there are numerous agencies helping like churches and the Red Cross. Praying 🙏 for all the victims and their families. ..
There are little glimmers of hope coming out of this. I just saw a news story where people have recovered several family photos in fields surrounding Coffeyville, Kansas and posted them on social media.
4:00 $3.19 per Gallon, WOW, great price!
Prayers for everyone affected 🙏
And that’s high here!
We have 5.49 in Redding Ca
As much oil as OK has, it SHOULD be cheaper here!
Lowest gas was around $1.49 back in 2018-2019
@@pville420 👍
Thank god you guys are all safe 🙏
There is no God.
What amazes me is that the trees in front of the Hampton Inn are fine! And the birds who live in them sound grateful.

😏
What is RFD?
3:11 I hear the birds so they survived somewhere
It is no longer "get to shelter" but "get your camera"
I live in Bartlesville close to where this tornado finished it's life cycle. That town is called "Barnsdall"...not dale. It's literally on Google maps so I have no idea why people can't seem to get the name right.
Thank God you stopped!! Is that a hotel??
I think I saw in another story that it was a Hampton Inn - lot of damage.
There is no God.
Got very lucky. Tornado just sideswiped.
Just usual day, welcome to Oklahoma
1:55 can still hear tornado after it passes while looking at the damage
At least every car in the parking lot remained perfectly in place. I guess?
Their pictures of the hotel that got hit to show the aftermath and yes most of the cars were still in place but they had damage.
It’s great to have cap lights handy and good flashlights
Lovely rain storm tho ! 😅. We are extremely hot and no rain for over a month . Sweet ! Leaving any day now -
It's not Barnsdale. It's Barnsdall.
I love RFD.
Large ternado
Big tornado but cars are driving thru🤷
I certainly hope you paid the chaser for this
Barnsdall. Any news on protecting our waterways from pollution, aka chicken shit? 😘✌🏼✊🏼
Nuts
New drinking game: every time he says STRONG RFD or LARGE TORNADO, you take a shot! BOOM! Instant 3 minute drunk! 😂
Better Barnstale than tulsa 👍🏾
i farted
Yell a little louder so we can hear ya
Cry a little more why dont you?
Go out there and chase the storms yourself.
Do you think the RFD is strong?
My thoughts exactly 😅
It didn't sink in until the fifteenth time he said it... _Then_ I understood that there was a strong rear flank downdraft.
God bless everyone impacted by these. I was in Broken Arrow, OK. My heart goes out to you! 💚🙏🏼
Great footage. Amazing that in 2024 we still don't know how to hold a camera. Too bad we can't see the rest of the scene because of these black bars blocking the view,.
Crazy. How did all the birds return so quickly? Where'd they go during the storm?
They flew away...birds have wings
Wow 😮
I don't know what's more terrifying. The tornado, or the fact that everyone is recording every second of our lives now.
Why don't you ask the people in that town which is more terrifying?
And if you ain't doing anything illegal why the hell do you care?
By the way for the record I'm a first responder. A paramedic to be exact and you know we have to wear body cams now. You know why because you got a bunch of ambulance chasers who if something goes wrong the want to sue my department.
It’s the people recording that’s more terrifying 😮
I don't care who's recording unless it's the government.
Stop screaming!!
There lucky that was just a small meso-
vortice that came thru if you look trees are still standing and most of the poles are still intact.
Tinha que ter um brasileiro
Cudos to whoever put the hamptons inn sign up😂
I heard someone on the national news call Barnsdall Barnsdale, too. The town was renamed after the owner of the oil company that set up in Bigheart and became Barnsdall January 1, 1922.
Honestly, if there was a bad tornado coming my way while I was driving, I’d be driving tf away and I wouldn’t care about the law. Better my life than being arrested.
Too much talking man!
While I am thankful that people do record what's going on SOMETIMES because it gives people an idea of what it's like in a situation like that...the LAST thing I'm going to be thinking about if I'm caught in a storm like that is to record it. I could care LESS about strangers viewing my nightmare....I didn't want to see it MYSELF!!! I would be too busy trying to stick my head between my legs in case I needed to kiss my butt goodbye!! I hope I NEVER experience a twister...it's one of my biggest fears...and many prayers for all of those that have been and will be affected by them. Storms are getting worse and worse each year....tornado alley has shifted...and people and places who have never experienced these demons are losing their "storm virginity". PLEASE GOD make it stop....or at LEAST calm down a bit. It's like mother nature has become bipolar. Prayers for all and stay SAFE!! OH...and PLEASE stay away from overpasses!!!!!!!!!!!
Why do solo storm chasers yell so much? Like, bro who are you yelling at?????
@_Oklahoman "Barnsdall" not Barnsdale. I'm in CA and even know that.
It had weakened by the time it hit Bartlesville or many of those buildings wouldn’t have been there .
The way he said to the tourists after that Twister welcome to Oklahoma and they all laughed
Well your hotel structure a bit stronger
I wonder if Oklahoma citizens even believe the law is real?
I have never been in a tornado 🌪️ but dang 1:36 😨😱😱
🙏🎯🌍🔥🔥🔥🔥
**Nam myoho rengekyo**
🙏 pray 🌍 peace 🕊️ be safe
Strong RFD...Yes we know
Can I still get my free breakfast at that hotel?🤔
Adrenaline anyone?
‘Welcome to Oklahoma,” lmao
Barnsdall
Prayers for all🙏🏾
There is no God.
,😱
Imagine those foreigners who had to experience that.
Santa Claus was seen this was filmed! Good job.
The footage from inside when the sirens were going off is from the Paragon Ridge Ranch. The footage from inside the hotel is not the same place.
This is incorrect. Credit for the video of inside the hotel (Hampton Inn in Bartlesville) with the sirens going is on the left-hand side of the screen at about 2:53. Fox23 News Tulsa has a video about it.
bville. it was actually scary i had to leave my poor doggies behind.
Bison was hit by this. A small F0-1 dude.
