Produced and written by modern OPM prodigy Thyro Alfaro, 'Maharani' fuses neo soul with traditional southern Philippine and maritime South East Asian music, making use of instruments like kanun, gamelan, gangsa and byeon amidst an R&B and trap vibe. every choreo they do is so unique, i love how they always mindfully incorporate elements from our indigenous roots in their dance. it's really what sets them apart from other groups and i love it!!!

They are living in the word "ALAMAT" KASE ALAMAT TALAGA. A foreigner dancing to Maharani brought me here.
This is not meant to offend any other group but ALAMAT is the only PPop group I could think of na walang kang maisip na Kpop comparison. Again, not to offend pero SB19 is obviously inspired by BTS/Bigbang (though ang ganda ng coincidence ng story nila and how one song saved them from disbanding: I Need U=Go Up) BINI is very much inspired by TWICE and I am so glad na they're gaining attention sa Pantropiko. But I can't really think of a KPop group na kaya ko ihalintulad sa ALAMAT. Very original sila.

Mi di mo pala kilala Sb19 yung detalye sa likod para di mo naunawaan at makita yung paano sila nag break sa mold may sarili sila identity hindi tulad sa preconceived stuck impression dahil sa colonial mentality ng maraming Pinoy dahil under Koreano sila literal almost all songs sa first album koreano composed mi di composed for them literal released and unreleased complete songs under kpop group na disband ng Korean company na under sila. Dahil goal oriented ang Sb19 at may freedom sila eh sila nalang sumulat ng kanta istorya ng kanta yung music pag aari ng kumpanya at produced by top korean composer yun na ilang popular kpop groups din nakinabang sa composed nun. Huwag naman natin insultuhin hirap ng Sb19 makawala sa mga koreano una pinabayaan sila (walang goal si Tatang eh ang taas ng pangarap ng Sb19) binenta sila nung pandemic sa hayop pang koreano na opisyal din ng kumpanya di nalang pinubliko yung latest attempt na huthutan sila ng pera nun binali momentum nila wala sila magawa kundi mag compromised dahil sa batas bawat anu nila pinapalamon nila yung animal na noon pa kilalang animal talaga yun.

actually 2nd gen kpop stan ako and yes agree ako sa sentiment mo mainly for Alamat kaya siguro ako na fall sa group na to kasi iba yung experience ko sa kanila and their music e galing ako sa kpop and selective talaga ako basta kuhang kuha ako ng Alamat, kakaiba yung dating nila sakin kaya sana mapansin pa sila pero darating din tayo dyan 🙏🏻
Yeah, kaya naging fan ako ng ALAMAT. Meron rin silang konting influence ng Kpop, pero mas nangingibabaw yung pagkapinoy.

I think ALAMAT should do more live shows nationwide to widen the fanbase.. Deserv na deserv rin nila ung level of fame and respect na nakukuha ng SB19, and more. I just hope na until then, this group sticks together pa rin.

SO TRUE. I haven't seen a group that incorporates Filipino culture as beautifully and accurately as ALAMAT. It feels very touching plus their songs are actual bops and has non-awkward lyrics nor melodies. I STAN HARD. They deserve national or even international recognition. Hope they get better budget and promotion soon, so they could reach wider audience.
