Honestly don't know how I found this. I certainly didn't search for Marc Ford. I was just watching music on UA-cam. Let's call it serendipity. My Thursday night is much happier because of this.

Nice! The 2 other Gents from the Allman Betts Band are John Ginty on keys and R. Scott Bryan on the drums. The Gent in the middle on drums I don't recognize it's not the 2nd drummer from the ABB-II, His name is John Lum. Nice grouping.

It's Phil Jones. Sometimes Tom Petty drummer (maybe when Stan Lynch was in a mood) and side percussionist. He's one at least Petty albums in the 1980s, if not all of em. Session style drummer/percussionist.

No, Isaiah Mitchell from Earthless did the recent SYMM tour with Charlie Starr from BBS filling in while Earthless was in Europe and now Nico (who was in Magpie w/Marc, Rich and Sven) is playing lead on the Aerosmith tour. I don't think Marc wants to do big huge tours anymore

Is he actually calling himself "Marc F*cking Ford"?

    • @drivingwheel9101

Has for a long ass time. His custom picks in the Black Crowes were "shit brown" emblazoned with "MFF" on one side, and that was back in the 90s...

I don't understand why Marc doesn't play anything he wrote with The Crowes and wake the crowds up?

    • @drivingwheel9101
      @drivingwheel9101  3 роки тому +3

What, like "Tornado?" As far as I know, that's the only song in the Crowes catalog he had any part of writing...and he still didn't get credit.
And another thing, I LOVE Marc's solo stuff. He writes great songs that I'd love to hear live. Especially the stuff off IAT, W&W and Fuzz Machine - 3 of my favorite records by anyone.
      Greazy Chicken is THE JAM.
And to sum up...what's he gonna do, sing Black Moon Creeping while playing the talkbox part?
      Come on, man...

@@drivingwheel9101 He could play anything from those 3 Crowes albums live. Hell The Crowes play covers all night long.

      1. He doesn't have the voice to pull that off, only 1 guitar, and those songs are hard to sing and play at the same time.
      2. I guess if he wanted to play Crowes songs he wouldn't have quit the Crowes, right?
      3. He writes his own songs, and that's what he wants to promote. Why is any of that so hard to figure out and accept?

All that guy on the right does is play Duane Allman slice riffs that don't even go with the song because he isn't listening to the other musicians
I know he did the same shit when I saw Marc ford play with the Allman betts band.

@@tomslick2058 well, Crowes songs are written by the Robinson Brothers. Marc Ford songs are written by Marc Ford. Marc is heavily influenced by Neil Young, and you can tell :
It's About Time - singer/songwriter stuff with the Sinners and some songs with the Govt Mule as backing band - very diverse material, some truly GREAT songs : "Change Your Mind", "Feels Like Doin Times", "Cry Moan & Wail", "Just Let It Go"
Holy Ghost is very acoustic based and spiritual.
Weary & Wired is bluesy and funky : "Greasy Chicken", "Dirty Girl", "Don't Come Around", "1000 Ways" "It'll Be Over Soon", "Other Side" are all fantastic
Fuzz Machine is my favorite - every single song is EPIC.
The Vulture is a grower - I need to play it more often.
Then you have the Neptune Blues Club record, which is more of a band thing...
But yes, the Crowes are great. But Marc is great on his own, just different. The problem comes if you are trying to compare the two entities...
