Metzelbaer Nibbels, it's grey with black bumpers right now, but I'm going to get it painted gloss black and I'm putting coil overs on it to make it a little lower and fender flares to put wider tires on it, trying to give it a Ae86 look. The body has 133,xxx miles on it but it's been sitting since 1999, I bought it in 2016.
Found one in Wichita, Kansas like holy shit saw an 85 or 86 Accord. It sat in a Dillions parking lot near my home. I was sad to see it there I wanted to buy one badly. But I'm broke asf due to repairing my 89 Supercharged MR2.
I got one of these from my grandpa. '86, 5MT, ~110hp fuel injected 4cyl. When I got it it had ~220k miles on it, it had a lot of bits malfunctioning or otherwise askew, but it works fine where it counts and I still have it. I had a feeling that yours would pleasantly surprise you.
Similar tastes! I have a 944 and I've been thinking about buying a 1988 Accord LX from my Dad who wants to scrap it. I love driving that Accord. It's low height and lightweight makes it feel nimble and it's kinda peppy with the 5 speed manual.
The Accord was the first car I've performed a reverse flick in. The memories I have in that car. It was brown and me and my friends called it the turd.
Just install a tilt switch in place of the normal one. Then every time you take a slalom, the light will switch on and turn off once you start driving straight again.
On watching it back, you can hear this car get progressively less happy as it gets later in the day. The first lap it fires right up first crank and by the end, it takes 5 rotations...
I’ve got an 86 Accord sedan! It’s such an awesome car, it’s not powerful by any means, but it runs perfectly and will NOT break down. I’m the second owner and am working to restore it
So majestic. Reminds me of when I took my 1998 Ford Ranger around an auto cross course at gateway haha. I got close to the time of a few dudes in a Focus SVT at least.
Honda's of this era were literally indestructible from a mechanical standpoint. I had the same Accord, but with a 5 speed - way better than the 3 speed auto. A few years later I picked up a '91 Civic SI hatch... neither ever let me down. Sadly, rust killed a lot of these cars well before they wore out mechanically...
From the outside, it looked like something out of some crazy 80s TV show. It could have been a villain's car on Knight Rider! :D It's half the car's looks; I mean they really don't style them like they used to, do they? XD The other half is how much it's rolling, which maybe was more appropriate to shows made in the 70s, but that's just fine to me. It's great! :D Speaking of roll, one of my earliest memories is of a real-life car chase in London. A Rover P6 (I think) was being chased by a bright blue Rover P5 cop car with a single blue light on top. Oh man, did that P5 ever have body roll! I really want to see a Toyota MR2 take the course, for some reason. Or a Porsche 924 or 944 or any of the other cars I loved when I was a teenager. Everything works that way for me too, but all too often, the sudden spike isn't so great but the subsequent deterioration is.
Friend got a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT for $250 with a full tank of gas and a jammed sunroof. Probably would have done better than this, but that's impressive nonetheless. What model year is that Honda?
A lot of cars used this similar hatchback design during the 80's and early 90's. AE86, Accord, RX7, Fox body Mustang, ect. Only thing the fox body didn't have pop up head lights.
@@dekoldrick Don't forget the AE-86's American counterpart: the Celica Supra like the one Robert sold a fews years back. I'd give my balls for one of those (not an arm & a leg because I still would have to drive it of course 😂)
I wish my 8tu gen accord could die that but it has 152,000 miles and has run for 3 years of its 9 year age so it wouldn't do good, plus if its floored for a few seconds it starts burning oil
+AE86 of Mt. Akina I daily drove my 944 for over a year. I've put 35k miles on my car. It does fine as a cool DD but I have put more money and time into it and don't DD it any more. The word gets around when you have a Porsche. I meet friends of family and they ask if I'm the guy with the Porsche. You'll have to do the maintenance yourself, unless you have a source of income that can support a Porsche. Buy the best 944 you can afford. I wish I had saved more and bought a Turbo or S but I love my N/A and won't sell it. The N/A doesn't have a lot of power but is light and balanced. The 944 won Best Handling Car in 1985. I lead a car club and am able to keep up with more powerful cars on curvy roads. You have to keep the revs up between 4 and 6k. I'm preparing to do a full suspension upgrade on mine in the near future. Drive a couple of examples of the 944 and definitely have someone who is familiar with old Porsches give it a good look over. There can be some expensive repairs.
Advantage: You have better fuel economy than any other cars
would be perfect if this was a enduro
but if it was he would allready need to pit for another pair of mediocre all seasons
You probably had more fun than any of the drivers who ran consistently faster than you. Thanks. :-)
That Accord is a beauty. Makes me wish they sold over in Europe.
It was sold but without the pop-up headlights
These Accords are awesome! Sadly they are extremely rare these days
Rick Kove I have one from 86, I'm gonna restore it, slam it and do a wide body kit for it
Team_GP_417 ok so yours is gone too then..why not keep it stock? That would be restored and a novelty

Team_GP_417 get an 86 then don’t ruin a Honda these are far rarer than those corollas

The 3rd gen and 4th gen Accords are absolute gems. Light years beyond anything else that was available at the time.

If you rapidly depress the headlight switch on those cars they will start flipping out of sync.
Brings back good memories
I did that to lol

3:23 "Maybe I'll put the headlights down for increased aerodynamics" xDDD
More cars should come with Slalom Lights.
Just install a tilt switch in place of the normal one. Then every time you take a slalom, the light will switch on and turn off once you start driving straight again.

Gr8 tip. Thank you!
What a cool looking car!
Yeah I sure want one now.
This makes me wanna autocross my Accord, although mine's arguably worse than yours; it's pissing oil and power steering fluid everywhere.
NFS4LFE just put new gaskets if you have time, and lift it with bigger springs or something, trust me, you'll have a ton of fun
Ohh did it why don’t you fix it
I wanna Autocross my '85 Accord sport hatch from watching this too... but mine's pristine inside & out. I better find a beater one ASAP 😂

Man I love the look of this car!
But here in Europe, there is maybe 10 that still exist :(
The budget Trueno

i wish you woukd have kept it, it didnt even look that bad
You forgot the biggest advantage of all... the ZERO F@CKS GIVEN!!! Because if you push hard and it breaks you’re only out the $300 for the car

AIO inc. 80s
Well no shit, it's got popups. Anything more specific?
1986-1989 cant do better than that sorry
@@Senatorlemonsouth Yeah, it's a gen 3. This is an 86, the same one he showed in the other video.
Wow! Your commentary sounds just like Randy Pobst! I'm predicting a bright future for you good sir!
it's full independent suspension
Thro a set of yellow speed adjustable coilovers and that little hatchback will perform like a beast
i got a -00 uk spec accord but that looks way cooler
I've got an '07 Toyota Yaris with 100k+ miles on it. I wanna do this now.
In europe that accord is not exist today
Haha the fuckin slalom light

@RockabillyFox Ah, gotcha! But our Corolla didn’t have the fabled 4A-GE engine like the AE-86. At least we got that engine in the MR2 AW-11 though.
I would love to see you restore an older Honda like this into mint condition. Or even a newer Honda like a Honda Ridgeline
I actually kind of like how that Accord looks. Would be fun to mod into something a little less gutless
Automatic transmission downshift slowness in an autocross? Put it in second and leave it in second...
Rigs of rods???
Looks like fun.
Slalom light lmfao
I wanna get one of these and see if I can H swap it.
You could turn that thing into a sleeper... that'd be cool

I used to work at the family arena huh...
Its actually a cute little car, I’d buy it. Body roll is a bit concerning though.
Dddddaaaammmmnnnnnnnnnnnn thats a nice honda
Decent
Good car for $300
Epic!
Don't sell it short; I think it is not nothing short of mediocre it definitely falls short of mediocre.
Next time leave it in 2nd gear whole time.
I want to autocross my lincoln town car
Look identical to a celica supra
superintendent chalmers?
Im buying a Porsche 944

What year is this car?
It has amber front turn signal lenses, so it's either a 1986 or a 1987.

What a great way to put a shitty accord out of its misery I just shot the crap outta mine
Looks like a bootleg ae86 hatch.
