Hi! as the MI camera is able to access the NAS folder is there anyway by which one can access from a different PC/mobile using the IP address on a browser??
You're amazing! Explained in a simple and direct way. Show the examples and just follow the step by step. Now I know how to setup on a NAS when I buy a new camera. Congratulations for the video and thank you very much!!
Thank You. I'm using win 10 pro fully updated. this tutorial is very helpful to setup NAS. For those people who get error msg (refresh or network not establish or could'nt get storage) please give some time to that page on your mobile (5 to 15 minute) after that the phone shows NAS network storage page (may be give error on that page too) just try again and again. it will work.
Thanks buddy. I was able to setup my Desktop shared folder with my Mi 2k Cam. Can we attach an external HDD to JIO Fiber router and use that as NAS drive, if you have time, please share that idea too. Thank you again for sharing this great information. Keep it up.
For that, you have to do all the settings from the router's settings page or admin panel. Setup a shared folder with password. SMB 1.0 support must be there.
Thank you! Your video is very helpful. I have a few additional questions: 1.When viewing playback from the Mi Home app, can I access more playback history from the data stored in the Share Drive? 2.Will the data in the Share Drive be overwritten automatically by the camera, or do I need to manually delete the data myself? Also, if I don’t delete the data and the Share Drive becomes full, will there be any notifications?
Problem solved!! Thanks!! Question: After setting everything up successfully, Do I have to open up my Mi Home App to run the sync? or do they happen automatically without my Mi Home App?
We have windows10 on lenova Laptop and MI Camera 360 with SD card. Both are connected with same WIFI.We did all settings as guided in video. We are UNABLE To SEE ANY SHARE FOLDERs In NAS Network Storage on MI APPLICATION.
hello thanks for your sharing.. but i don't understand one thing.. you are not using raspberry pi.. why you show it? Also i have another question, i have rasp pi, how could i use it with xiaomi ip camera?
Successfully added to my Mi360 on Win7 64bit.... 1. Step is create a folder and share it (use advance sharing settings available in folder sharing properties) 2. Follow step as shown in video(i did not need for setting SMB1.0 etc) ..rest as in video...Thank you.... Tech It Easy
the moment I go back from the NAS page on MiHome app, the transmission stops. When I re enter, it shows again "preparing for transmission". Do we need to keep the app running n our mobiles?
@@tech_it_easy Sometimes it no longer uploads to the designated folder. To fix this I need to remove the NAS and repeat the process in the app. What's causing this problem?
If your router has SMB 1.0 it can work. Connect a drive via router's USB, enable SMB from router settings with a username and password and share a folder. The rest of the process should be same as shown in the video.

Hi! Thanks for this video. Hello have following queries 1. Window 7 does not show smb1 file sharing options 2. On router how to connect storage via USB not clear 3. If i need your assistance directly through anydesk etc. 4. I am not a IT guy so technically not aware of all the process so please guide
I think Windows 7 has SMB 1.0 support by default. Router needs to have support for CIFS/SMB 1.0 support and enabled if you are planning to do this with your router. Plug in a USB drive and share a directory with username and password from router admin panel.
In order for the NAS to work, is it a must to have a SD card in the camera at all times? And can I view the recorded clips directly from the camera or do I need to open up the computer to view them?
Tks for the video. Any idea if Xiaomi's 360 camera can port forward or can we use other apps such as IP Cam Viewer (Android) to view the footage from? Tks.
Thank you very much for your great video. I have another question though. Suppose I have a NAS setup at other location. Can I back up my mi camera video to NAS that is set up in other location (network)? I am thinking about buying WD my cloud and set up at one location and it will be shared by videos recorded by mi cameras that are used in three different locations. For example I set up NAS at headquarter Then have mi camera at branch 1, branch 2 and branch 3 videos recorded and backed up at head quarter office. Thank you very much.
Hi, Very helpful video, but not sure how will it work in my case. I need to install 10 CIC EZVIZ wireless camera. How to record them at my home laptop in a remote place, on different wifi N/w?
I am trying for last 2days ,after doing every thing, on mobile the last step nas storage select and after username and password . No files is showing. Any tips
Are you using iPhone? If so try it via Android app. Had the same issue while i was trying from iPhone, but it immediately list out the shares when i tried from another Android Phone.
If we put an USB stick on the router, the step with Windows account/sharing is not necessary, no? Then we can just set up the NAS from the Mi Home app? Also, it doesn't come with any kind of cloud storage for motion detected videos?
Motion detected videos will be stored in the microsd card and NAS(if you have set it up). If you are using router to setup NAS, make sure the router supports CIFS/SMB 1.0 and enable it from the router settings page.
got question 4 you, i find this video is helpful, but my NAS(which currently my Computer) is not running 24/7. if i setup like you did, is it going to backup everytime i turn on my NAS?
Is there some storage limit on NAS? On memory card when storage is full, then video is overwritten starting from the oldest one. What about NAS on windows? Will it work in the same way or will it stop recording when there is no free space on disk?
WiFi is needed for the setup. If you want to watch it live, it needs internet connection via WiFi. Otherwise, it will continue to work even if there is no WiFi.
Excellent review! I have a question. Can this camera save video in Memory card and in NAS at the same time? I will try to connect my "WD My Cloud" NAS device to sync with the camera.
And yes, it saves video clips in the microsd card and the NAS at the same time. However, this is not exactly "at the same time" because it saves each clip in the microsd first and then in the NAS. So, there is a slight delay for the NAS.
thanks for Video, I finished wid my basis setup on laptop and Mobile. Whenevr I tried to acces Share Folder on Mi App Under NAS storage, a pop up of ''Couldnt load data'' appeared and unable to acces Share folder to transfer data, Could you please help me out?
Bro in my case the camera is in my shop with no Wi-Fi and I am using another phone hotspot for Wi-Fi and I have Wi-Fi and pc in my home, now is there any way to store all surveillance footage by sitting in my home. Note: I can't carry my pc to the shop.
Hi, I am not able to connect it to my computer. I have done all the steps enabled cifs sharing and turned on the network discovery for all profiles. However the computer shows up but when i enter the username and password it shows couldn't refresh error. :( could you please help me troubleshoot?
i can see my computer in the list too. But when i enter the password it doesnot connect. I can connect to my share using ES file explorer with SMB 1.0 and its working successfully
Thank you for the video. I just have one question, will the camera auto delete the videos from the Micro SD card, once the transfer is complete? (assuming I have set the transfer to once every day)
@@tech_it_easy that's exactly what happened. But if we choose the timeline of vid storage in the app to 1week, wil the cam delete videos older than 1 week himself?
For NAS, I don't think it will change anything though I am not using it since the last 5-6 weeks. So, I am unaware of any new updates. Basically whatever file it saves in the MicroSD, it syncs with the NAS (but doesn't delete when deleted from MicroSD) and I think it will simply stop syncing when the NAS doesn't have any storage space left.
very good informationn...please share if you have a video for nas..I thiink thats gonna work allmost the same way but still if you have a detailed video please share
Hi installed samba on a raspberry pi. With user and password. But After entering correct Username and Password it says couldn't refresh. Tried to access the shared folder from a file explorer app on smart phone and can connect with the user and pass. Appreciate your help. Thanks for the informative video
SMB 1.0/CIFS needs to be enabled. It would not work on newer versions of SMB. Also, make sure you have shared a directory with full permission on that network. (SMB is SAMBA)
@@tech_it_easy tried the same with Windows. Performing all steps in video + create a local Administrator account. Still getting couldn't refresh message. Both laptop and Camera are on same network and same 2.4GHz band
I can set up on same wifi, but my computer will be in completely different location after, even in different country. Will it still be uploading or the laptop has to be close all the time?
Your tutorial is awesome. Please also provide the process how to save videos using MI camera, Router and HDD. I mean to say the Router setup for keeping the videos.
@@majetysaiabhinesh7239 you dont need to set up your computer for that.. Just need to access your router, enable SMB and FTP after you connect a HDD to it. make sure you disable the user name and password access. Then you're done. follow the rest of this video about setting up the camera.
Hi, Your video is very useful. I need a bit clarification that if camera is recording and I connect the my portable HDD to my router, which the data shouldn't be stored in my laptop. Can that be possible
After the recordings are uploaded to NAS from sd card, will the same be deleted from the sd card... ? otherwise within a few days only the sd card will be full and the camera won't be able to save videos, despite of whatever space may be left in NAS.
After uploading to the NAS the videos will not be deleted from the sd card. Old videos will be automatically deleted (one by one, not all at once) when the card is full to make space for the new videos.
Wonderful Guide I must say..Thanks for sharing this. I tried NAS storage with my recently bought MI Camera but it did not work. I have got an Apple Airport (router) and got a hard drive connected to its USB port. The Mi Home successfully find that drive in NAS setting and writes a zero KB file on it and then stops the sync. It doesn't show any error in particular. When I delete the NAS storage and redo the set up, the status remains as "Preparing for Transmission" forever and does not move at all. Do you have any suggestions for me?
@@tech_it_easy Hello. I bought imilab EC3 and I have similar problem. I tried it on the NAS, but I'm not sure about SMB, so I tried on my desktop(like in your video). Result is same. It created sub-folders \xiaomi_camera_videos\607ea462e09e\ but no video or any file in it. On PC I'm sure I activated SMB 1.0 CIFS support. Can you help me please?
Hi, in My Home app, NAS storage is not a selectable option. Do you know why it is? I read somewhere that your router must be Xiaomi in order to use NAS option. Is there any other option?
hello mate, where did you read about must be an Xiaomi router? I'm trying to setup in a tp Link wdr4300 and it sees the network but it doesn´t complete the transmission to NAS.
Hi, Its a nice and helpful video. Laptop hdd storage worked for me. i have jio fibre router with usb option and i have connected my portable hdd to it and enable ftp settings for that. i am only able to access that hdd on laptop but how to store my mi recordings to the hdd which is connected to router. Thanks
You have to share a directory inside the hdd connected to the router. FTP will not work. I am talking about SMB / SAMBA sharing (which is the default way of sharing a directory in windows). Make sure the camera and the hdd are connected to the same router. If the router doesn't support SMB 1.0 and CIFS then this is not going to work.
Hi, thanks for the helpful video.. i have already followed your instruction but unfortunately, stuck when clicking the folder on Mi App, it says "Couldnt Set. Try Again" whenever i choose the folder Network discovery is turned on, i can see it from my network discovery panel on windows. Any idea how to solve this? Many thanks before
thanks, before this i have done all except add new windows feature, thanks to this video now my camera can store in NAS, but the transfer rate is very slow. any idea to increase the transfer rate?
I have a problem. All works, but when I set saving to NAS to "live", it pauses saving every time I close the mobile Xiaomi app. Is there any way to force literally live (continuos) saving to the NAS? Thanks.
Hey! Great vídeo, but when I tried to select the option of "NAS storage" this don't do nothing, like the option are disable... Needs the use of sd card?
Yes, I have 3 mi cameras at home... One of them doesn't have a microsd card in it and it also is the only one that doesn't have NAS STORAGE enabled I. The manage storage section... So yes, u need to insert a microsd card first. Cheers
I have 4 cameras on the summer plot and I would like to make the recordings there, or do I have to have a computer there that will be on all the time. Will it work if I connect an external drive to the fritz!box router and enable the fritz!nas options there?
Hello, thank you for the good video, i have problem with the seting it up. i hope you can help me with it .I followed all the steps on the computer, but when i go to the phone and open the manage storage settings i can't click on Nas network storage. The camera doesn't have microsd card. Can that be the problem?

@@tech_it_easy Thank You. Checked the same by buying it. It records even if wifi is not available. also set the NAS as you shown. working perfectly. Thanks.
Yes you can. It will automatically delete the old videos to make space for the new videos once the card is full. A 32gb card can store approximately up to 3 days of footages.
what is Rasberry pie and how does WIFI work if connected with USB any WIFI camera ,please make one video, if the NAS can be auto-matted and don't require full day of PC usage please.

Thanks a lot. Keep up the good work. Mi should make this video official.
Thanks 👍🏼😊
Hello, can I do this if I have a desktop pc connected to the same network but with cable (not wi-fi)?
A pc which you wish to run as a NAS, has to be connected via wifi or ethernet to the same router which the camera is connected to.
Does all xiaomi cctv support NAS? Like the xiaofang 1s and the xiaovv?
Probably not
got question 4 you, i find this video is helpful, but my NAS(which currently my Computer) is not running 24/7. if i setup like you did, is it going to backup everytime i turn on my NAS?
Yes. It will sync whatever it has in the microsd card.
Hey, do you have to format the NAS drive to fat 32 or can you use NTFS?
Try Fat32 first. If that doesn't work, try NTFS.
@@tech_it_easy I want to use NTFS, but wonder if it will work with that?
What about if I connect the Harddisk to the router's usb port directly?
I'm also following on this method though.
did you find a solution for HD directly in router? i´ve tryied but xiaomi camera nas didnt ´´see´´ the HD in router.
Is there some storage limit on NAS? On memory card when storage is full, then video is overwritten starting from the oldest one. What about NAS on windows? Will it work in the same way or will it stop recording when there is no free space on disk?
I think it will stop recording on NAS when the storage is full.
does these camera uses wifi as a medium of data transmission or it really uses the internet?
I'm Confused!
hope some good soul will answer!
Thanks 👍🙂
And yes, it saves video clips in the microsd card and the NAS at the same time. However, this is not exactly "at the same time" because it saves each clip in the microsd first and then in the NAS. So, there is a slight delay for the NAS.
@@tech_it_easy so we had to remove memory card n then insert a new or empty card after it's full?
@@riteshagrahari6842 No. It automatically deletes old videos stored in the microsd card to make space for the new videos.

Thank you for the video. I just have one question, will the camera auto delete the videos from the Micro SD card, once the transfer is complete? (assuming I have set the transfer to once every day)
No but it will auto-delete the older videos when it is out of space.
@@tech_it_easy sir what about NAS storage?
What if the harddisk gets full?
Will it auto delete the old vids to make space for new ones or not?
@@harshitkaushik5994 I don't think so. Maybe it will stop saving the new files into the NAS.
Which region you selected for Mi home app Xiaomi ?
Does Xiaomi Xiao Fang (square one) camera support NAS storage?
As that one is a Xiaomi camera, it should support NAS but I am not 100% sure.

SMB 1.0/CIFS needs to be enabled. It would not work on newer versions of SMB. Also, make sure you have shared a directory with full permission on that network. (SMB is SAMBA)

Yes. The router needs to have a USB port and support for SMB / CIFS 1.0.

Hi, Your video is very useful. I need a bit clarification that if camera is recording and I connect the my portable HDD to my router, which the data shouldn't be stored in my laptop. Can that be possible
Yes. Share a directory in your HDD from router settings with CIFS/SMB 1.0 support. Then connect that directory to the camera NAS setting.

@@tech_it_easy my router only supports ftp only.
Then it will not work with the router. You have to use a computer to backup footages from the camera.

How's the backup speed to nas drive considering it's a wireless transfer? Any issues you have faced with day to day use of nas?
Not very fast but it gets the job done. Each video clip is recorded into the microsd card first and then transferred to the NAS.

thank you for the tutorial. but i dont see the shared folder i've made before when i go to the last step. can u give solution?
Make sure a folder is shared by an account with password. The NAS/PC and the camera have to be on the same network. Enable SMB/CIFS 1.0 on the NAS/PC.
