I don't even own a TBI or even a TPI but thoroughly enjoy watching these videos since they are so professional and informative. Cheers Mark for the amazing content
I just started the exact same thing on my 24 te250 with 100 hours and I went with the recommended on South Bay and Tsp website with 100 hours order a B piston now I want to order the bore gauge to know for sure. Thank for the video, looking forward to part 2 and 3.
Yes, you can do. Compression testing is a good indicator whether the rings are still OK. But even if the compression is still OK, it’s still a good idea to change the piston and rings periodically to avoid piston failure. The overhaul interval will depend largely on how you ride the bike. Aggressive racing shorter intervals, more gentle trail riding longer intervals. For the riding I do 120-150H intervals is good I think.
Congratulations. This is the first top end overhaul for my 2024 at 130H. Regarding running in your new bike, be sure to warm up the engine before riding and change the transmission oil and check the wheel spoke tension after the first ride.
First thing to do, they fail a lot and to be honest cba having to deal with a thing that is done for emissions when things like india and china do wtf they want
Luckily the flange is available as a separate part (KTM part #A44037001000 Intermediate flange) for the 2024/2025 model, so I do not need to buy a complete cylinder. I've been thinking more about repairing the cracked flange and agree that welding cast aluminum, especially an oily part, will be difficult to achieve good strength. As such my current plan is to order a new part and fit that it not back-ordered.

I've been waiting for these videos. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the video. Just in time as I will be doing this job as well soon 👍
Always satisfied seeing your videos, great explantation.
You could have use the piston for more 30-50 hours for sure.
Cool video! Thanks
Do you do a compression check prior to considering an overhaul?

I’m sure you know this but just in case, coolant can be deadly for animals. What a cool dog!
In bikes with oil injection, there is enough space to remove the cylinder?
Your dog made me laugh. Was he/she coming to help or to check you were doing it correctly?😃👍
He always checks my work carefully. Rex my quality inspector...
I though that was a kid who needed a haircut.
@@RIPPERTON - LOL! I'll be sure to give Rex a good brush before his next video appearance :-)
hi i picked up a 300 tbi yesterday how many hours did you run before top end rebuild and any tips or things to avoid when running in a new tbi thenjd
Congratulations. This is the first top end overhaul for my 2024 at 130H. Regarding running in your new bike, be sure to warm up the engine before riding and change the transmission oil and check the wheel spoke tension after the first ride.
carbon deposits increase on the crown as you go leaner. Clean crowns are rich
Yes, I was expecting to see some fuel wash. I guess it’s not running as rich as I thought. Doesn’t feel lean though.
Why you delete the oil injection?
First thing to do, they fail a lot and to be honest cba having to deal with a thing that is done for emissions when things like india and china do wtf they want
I don’t value the convenience of oil injection and prefer the simplicity and reliability of using premix
Top end overhaul for me means........ replace the spark plug.
New cylinder required, sorry but no way to repair exhaust flange to be reliable.

Great video and very informative 👍
