You saved my knitting once again! I was ready to throw the passap in the river, but now I have perfected the cast off. Thank you so much!

Explicas muy bien, lo que el manual passap no lo logra. Genial. Gracias

Indeed, Strechy is important. I had to come back watching this video. On my first sweaters, the neck and arm "holes" weren't strechy. Your first cast off is suitable for arms but not for neck. In the duomatic manual (p49), the cast off where the yarn turn around the needle. it can be strechy if you pull down the needle more. have a try ! :)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I’ll definitely keep that in mind for my next project. I’m sure your tip will be helpful to many others as well. 😊

Casting off is better explained than in the Passap tutorial. The zigzag cast-off is missing. I have tried the zigzag cast-off several times, and it works great. Thank you! I have also found several of your cast-on methods. One question: what is your favorite?

If you are asking me about my favorite cast-on method, I am frequently using the tubular cast-on. I use the racking cast-on when knitting test swatches because it's easy to make. And my favorite cast-off method is the zig-zag latch cast-off, but it really depends on the project.

This video is super helpful. I’m a new machine knitter. My cast off was super tight even 2 full stitches up. Do you see any reason I couldn’t go up 3 full stitch sizes?

Thank you for your comment! 😊 The stitch size is always approximate. Depending on the yarn you are using, you may need to set the machine to a larger stitch size, so you may want to try 3 numbers bigger to make the cast-off on a small test swatch. According to some instructions you may even need to rotate the dial to 8 before knitting the last row. Happy knitting!

@@ArtOfClay I tried stitch size 8, it was the highest setting, and it was definitely better. I’m considering the Tricofit. I watched your video (very helpful). I was casting off a total of 158 stitches (back and front bed combined). For knits that big, I would definitely want to save the time (and the frustration lol). My manual cast-off is pretty good, but who doesn’t want a simpler method! Take care and thank you again.

I am glad to hear that you have successfully done the cast-off.
The Tricofit is a very cool gadget, especially for single-bed knitting. When it comes to casting off stitches on both beds, there are a couple of considerations. You can either transfer the stitches to one of the beds and then use the Tricofit, or you can do 2 passes with the Tricofit (one on the front bed and then one on the back bed - as if you are casting off a tubular piece). However, it's worth noting that doing 2 passes will result in two chains, which might not be ideal if the cast-off is visible in your project.
That being said, for cut-and-sew projects where the cast-off is hidden, the Tricofit can be a fantastic choice for most garments.

@@ArtOfClay I have a U100 (not played with yet), and if I get a Tricofit, I’ll have the best of both worlds!

    Merci pour votre réponse

      Bonjour,
      -------------
      Hello,
I have added subtitles in English for every video. I don't speak French, and I can't translate them, but you can click on the cogwheel in the lower right corner (while watching a video) and turn on the automatic translation from there. I hope that helps!

This video is super helpful. I’m a new machine knitter. I found going up 2 full stitch sizes did not give me the kind of slack I saw in your video. In fact, it was still quite a tight zigzag castoff. Do you see any problems if I go up three (3) full stitch sizes on the next piece?
