It isn't a bike culture, it is a first choice means of transportation that doesn't require insurance, fuel or costly parking fees. It is transportation that makes sense in an ever more crowded urban and sub-urban landscape. Either help or get out of the way. It is the future and your choice.

yes but it's also a culture. fixed gear bikes have been especially popular among young people in Chicago not just for transportation but also for people to meet up and ride together for fun

No, he can't do that. It'd be neat, but there are other citizens using the downtown and they have rights and political power. Hopefully, we as a city will keep improving. Hopefully, our rate of improvement will keep steadily increasing.
I haven't owned a car since 1999. In decent weather, the bike is my go-to transportation.

Great video! and quick question. Where was the person riding at 1:59 in the video? That trail looks very interesting.

I will approve calling it a good idea the day when you will start issueing Tickets to all asshold on bikes who just fly by on red light because there seem to be no treffic better yet have them stand side by side with treffic on road not rage on sidewalks ! myself Ive witness a bikes getting hit by a car turning left who had no idea anyone was on his path and guess what lol everyone assumed it was drivers fault ! If I ever hit a biker like that i would knock him down and wait for police to issue him a ticket ! riding a bicycle in chicago is nearly equal to riding without any rules ! on top of that you have bikers touching your cars etc etc couple of times Ive seen them messup someones side mirror on a car just because there was too little room in between cars for them to squeaze by..... so yeah ! start issueing them tickets and large ones so that there is some kind of a culture on roads

sometimes on radio you hear a biker got crashed/smashed by a bus or truck well ofcourse big cars like that have a huge blind spot but bikers dont seem to care about anybody not even themselves simply bikers in chicago think that they are most important and everyone will watch out for them. But be sure nobody enjoys having to deal with court hospital or whatever else just because a stupid biker acts like he is the most important one on road and will past everyone and laugh so bad oh oh im the best I wont pay $5 for uber but ill get there just as fast as you lol and honestly they are mean hit your car or even brake side rear view mirror and start screaming" watch out with that 2 tone car im just a little guy" lol I hate bikers in chicago

How has the city taken steps to improve the biking network since 2014?
