The main lyrics of the song is him saying ‘how are you only thinking of yourself’ and in the show- Rapunzel had to stay in the kingdom and not help Varian- so in Varians eyes, she was only thinking of herself and not of him! Also I’d like to think as the song progresses- it’s Varian slowly slipping more into being evil!
