We'd just like to assure Margot and the community here that our Matte Acrylics contain neither eye of newt nor tongue of bat, and we're working to address issues of residual hauntings in our production facilities. Now, we understand the natural inclination when faced with smelly acrylic paint to suspect a malevolent supernatural influence, but just in case it's a batch issue or loss of biocide potency, we'd like to invite Margot to reach out and discuss her experience in more detail, so we can help end the horror. Apologies for this issue with your paint. And, thanks for your good humor and this excellent performance!
Amazing response and a master class on the perfect way to handle PR with grace and wit. Thank you Blick and make no mistake, you’re still my number one boo (pun intended) and place to shop for art supplies 💞
😂💕Oh my goodness Margot!! This is your best informational video! You are a fantastic storyteller (I am sure that your children will adore bedtime stories). Thanks for sharing some wonderful Halloween 👻 🎃 fun into our artistic life! Hope you’re enjoying a wonderful holiday this month! 😂
I hope you had as much fun making this video (and I'm pretty sure you did) as I did watching it. You are the queen of educating with humor....Sure method of getting us to remember what you are teaching. Happy Halloween!🎃
Bravo, Margot, for this is a wonderfully spooky tale of some truly dastardly art supplies 👀😳. I may never enter the studio after dark again 😈 Happy Halloween.
Margot, you have a delightful sense of humor and a real flair for drama. Very clever and I enjoyed your cautionary tale very much. Merry Christmas and a belated Happy Halloween. ~ Lisa
Ty so very much for taking, what I know must have taken hours and hours, to put this brilliant Halloween share together! It is by far the most entertaining thing I’ve seen on UA-cam, ever…and still being so helpful at the same time! You literally made my day, bc I absolutely love to laugh and laugh often each and every day 💜🙏👻 I also take my journey to learn watercolor as a fun and self enriching experience, which is mostly done in bed, due to a serious health situation. So injecting humor into it has been a blessing. Thank you for this and all your generosity and inspiration 💜✨
Wow, Margot! Laugh out loud funny! Thanks so much for that … plus the info. Who knew DS masking fluid was so awful?? They have such a fine reputation. Just goes to show … likewise with W7N series 7 brush. Thanks for the “steer clear” warnings. ❤
😂😂😂😂…well done, Margo! Sometimes it's just as helpful to show what isn't too great as opposed to only what's going to give great results! And my mind thanks you!!! I thought I had lost mine when I also purchased W & N’s famous brush. Maybe it's the size 2 brush b/c that's what I bought as well and it looked just like yours. Only I was foolish enough to think it was a fluke and bought another one! I NEVER throw anything away, but I was so annoyed that they both ended up in the garbage! Thanks for the fun Halloween entertainment!!
The W&N series 7 has gone down in quality-ten years ago they were the best ever and every brush performed to perfection. I always use a nr 2 for my botanical work but have sadly found it is a Russian roulette to buy series 7, one gan get a brilliant one but as easily a bad one. I do not know if they have exonomised on sable quality or if the trained brushmakers got retired or if they moved the whole brushmaking to a country w cheaper labour and therefore cheaper quality or all three. But I am very sad as they were my constant rliable working tool. Now I go for Raphael or da Vinci and if I buy a series 7 I always do it in an art shop so I can try them out.
😂😂😂With all the horrible news in the UK, USA, and elsewhere, I needed this. Thanks Margot for this spooky fun. I hear Quentin Tarantino is going to offer you a role in his next movie.
My series 7 brushes are lovely, but I’ve had some isolated stinkers from other brands with equally good reputations. Other fails I’ve had; Several different Daniel Smith tubes. A couple of WN pans. A couple of Sennelier tubes. A WN field kit design - went through the entire stock in a shop with the owner, they were all broken, in the end he sent them all back. Escoda brushes, various Arches paper Bockingford rough paper Botanical hp paper Lyra Rembrandt colouring pencils And all this having bought many other items successfully in the same range. Quality control is not great…or perhaps I just buy too much stuff to be able to find so many duds!
Margot, A delightful haunting tale. I believe Alfred Hitchcock would be proud. You had me…. Let’s say…..hook….line and sinker. A wonderful Hallows Eve story that was mesmerizing for all the senses. Happy Halloween 🎃👻💀 Warm Regards, Martina
I'm getting back into watercolors for my character art, as one does, and I did not expect the The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde reference that pulled me out of my sketch. That's one of my favorite gothic pieces of literature and literature in general. xD
I love how much fun you are having with your videos ❤ they stand out from the pack! I also love watching you paint so I do hope that’s in some videos to come as well ❤ happy Halloween 🎃
You are a genius and a true artist. I just found your work today, and I can't stop watching your videos. Some (like this one) are very entertaining (and informative). Others are super valuable learning resources for us newbies. How you don't have hundreds of thousands of subscribers (yet) is beyond me. But I'm happy to stick with you for the ride and learn from you along the way. Thank you!
HA!HA!HA!HA! What a delightful pleasure at the end of a long day, with life full of it demands to come to just enjoy Margot Hallac with her clever sense of humour. You were so good. I loved it very very much! And listened to it with sad anticipation that it would end! Happy Halloween brilliant UA-camr!
I came here looking for examples on how to paint acrylic hibiscus petals and leaves, and I ended up having a grand time watching you. It's not Halloween, but your acting...ahem, reading...and all the little music and audio queues too, were very effective. You put me in the mood for Halloween all over again and you reminded me of a prior comedic genius who's work you may know. Her name is Carolyn Jones, but she is best known as the original Morticia Addams. To appreciate her impeccable comedic timing and genuine sense of what is funny, you pretty much need to watch all of the original Addams Family television episodes. But you reminded me of her and I very much enjoyed your little humor bits in this. I only regret that I didn't see this episode in October. And props to Bick for their creative response below. Hopefully by now they have figured out what went wrong in that yellow paint and it wasn't from the blood of an evil Jack O'Lantern!
Wonderful way to celebrate Halloween (or perhaps Day of the Dead Art Supplies?)! I haven't used the DS masking fluid but I did just throw away two other brands of masking fluid (or frisket as one was called) for the same reason. One was bubbly as you described and one was a complete beige solid! Latex has a VERY short life span. I do have some da Vinci brushes that I love, but they are very old, and still have great points. You'd think for the price, they'd would be able to keep up quality control. Thanks for sharing your creativity and humor!!
I have easily watched 1,000 hours of art videos - not joking or exaggerating - and this was easily the most entertaining one I've ever seen. 😂 Thank you for taking the time to share so much of your originality and creativity with us. ❤
What charming storytelling! I don't want you to suffer further, or encounter more nasty supplies, but I will keep my ears perked for more stories like these!
This was so cleverly done, I absolutely enjoyed every second of it. Thank you so much for putting so much effort into your videos, and at the same time teaching us precious information about art. You’re amazing!!💙💙💙💙💙
Well this will definitely be placed on my favorite scary Halloween video watch list! I loved this especially the evil masking fluid at last someone else has been haunted by its horror!
Well done, Margot....and well done Blick!! I've been a professional artist/illustrator for 40+ years (now retired) but I wish I had had someone like you to teach me "all the things" way back then. I learned on the job, most of what I have had to know to get my work done. You do such a wonderful job of teaching and entertaining all in one. I've never enjoyed an art video as much as I enjoy yours! I feel like I found a new friend....and at my old age, I can use a few! :) Don't worry Blick, everyone knows that there's a clinker in every supply source but knowing that great customer service will listen and respond takes the worry out of it all. I myself had an issue this week and it was corrected within 24 hours!! You can't beat that. Thank you again, my new friend, Margot. I appreciate you more than you can know!
2 cute and what's funnier I had just seen yesterday's community post asking which thumbnail to use before I clicked on the video and saw the main comment was from Blick's so when I saw their paint as one of the horrors I died laughing! 😂 Maybe they got a chill and a premonition...either way as always enjoy your videos and appreciate the extra drama and time to make it extra spooky for us!
There was definitely some psychic premonition voodoo going on. 🤣 To be fair it was just that one color so hopefully they don’t put too many pins on the Margot voodoo doll 😜 Glad you enjoyed the video and happy Halloween!!
Hahaha, you are FANTASTIC, Margot - BRAVA!!!!! You're the BEST!!! 🤩 That was such fun to watch and I so appreciate everything you put into making it!!! You are a treasure!!! ♥️🏆👋⭐ 😘😘😘 Happy Halloween to you and your sweet family!!! ♥️👻🎃🧛⚰️🖤
Patty-I totally loved I ved your video. The performance was spectacular. I've viewed it 3x. I'll probably watch it again. Think about doing this again with other informational content. I loved it. 👍🏽
This was by far the best seasonal video I've watched and I think I've watched them all! By the time you got to the series 7 I was on the edge of my seat clutching my phone in absolute panic, the horror oh the horror 😮
Margot, you’re too much! This was great. So funny and imaginative. Maybe you should try your hand at acting. No, no, forget that! We need you here, so we can follow your wonderful watercolour videos. Once again, this was great!!
Ah, alas, I have also had the misfortune of encountering that particular variety of swamp monster! 🥴😵😱 They reminded me of the poster paints we got at nursery school... 🤣
I'm glad I'm not the only one who had problems with that daniel smith masking fluid. I have a masking fluid pen, the molotov one now, and it's been really good so far.
Such a clever video, Margot! Well written and well performed! And Blick, bravo for the clever and hilarious rebuttal to Margot’s review! Senses of humour will get one very far! 💕💕💕
And this is why, even if you only put out one video a year, I will always be a devoted subscriber. You are a born entertainer Margot with an excellent teaching mefhod too ❤

Good for you for looking into this!!!

This performance definitely needs an award like an Oscar or something!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Well I can't say I'd object if you wrote to the Academy for me 😉🤣🤣
This was just epic,,even better than Lillith!! ❤😂

Thank you so much! 😝

You are the cutest thing ever. I laughed so hard at the masking fluid and the Silver dagger having the exact same experience with both of them!
I wish I had you mystically narrating my household chores and errands 😂 you’re so creative!
Wow! 😂 sos una artista con todo el sentido de la palabra❤
I loved this video ❣️Your creativity is incredible and so enjoyable. Thank you.
You’re so kind! Thank you and I’m so happy you enjoyed it! 🙏
