LOL @ the last thing he says is "Continue to fight for slavery." Something tells me that isn't what he meant.

The only group who still condones real slavery, in the World, is Islam. That is not just economic but forced labor for no pay. Otherwise we need to teach people to help each other, to share, not be greedy. It is better to give than to receive.

And on what exactly did you base this assumption may I ask? I'm not trying to pick up a fight here but the truth is actually the very opposite of what you say

Walt as far as Syria and Egypt go , both countries along with all other Arab states who supposedly "follow Islam" ironically do the exact opposite of what the religion preaches regarding every aspect of their life especially when it comes to government regimes. I'm saying this because I sat for an exam on the basis of the Islamic religion just three days ago. Also, I'm a Muslim myself and I live my life like any other teenager and I have many Christian friends whom I adore , and we often participate in the christmas and easter festivities which is actually encouraged by our religion in order to strengthen the bonds between community members. We were taught since kindergarten to love and respect people from other religions or else we're not even considered true Muslims. I actually remember this bit from my exam regarding our relationship with non-muslims: help the weak, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick , prey for them, gift them ,talk gently with them, always be fair and try with all your power to prevent any injustice from befalling them..." There's also this saying by the prophet which is basically " if you kill a non-muslim who has done you no harm you shall never smell the gardens of heaven and these can be smelt from a distance of a forty-year walk" which basically means people like bin laden and al Qa'ida who killed millions of innocents in the name of Islam are condemned by their own religion and will rot in hell. Also there's this incident where the prophet's own cousin was arguing with a Jew about the ownership of something and when they went to the kaliph (head of Muslim state) he ruled in favor of the Jew because he had stronger evidence of his claim. Now regarding the slavery issue , Islam tries to abolish slavery by all means possible and has done so since the very beginning. When we want to repent for a sin the first thing on the list is free a slave or as many of them as you can & only when this is completely out of option do you go on to other options .Anyways what I'm trying to say here is do not judge on the religion based on the people who supposedly "follow it" and based on media reports for I can tell you from personal experience that media reports greatly affect your opinion of a specific group of people and once you actually get to know them you realize how wrong you have been, also sadly the majority of the "Muslim"community has greatly deviated from the teachings of our faith the name of which derives from the world "salam" meaning peace in Arabic. I think instead of focusing on what devides us we should focus on what unites us which is our humanity for according to our holy book : "we have honored humankind" not Muslims but Humankind regardless of their gender, race or religion :)

Walt I'm not trying to deny the atrocities committed by many Muslims these days ,you have valid points .I'm just saying that people who commit them use religion, which is supposed to be a matter of personal belief, as an excuse to promote their own personal vandettas whatever they may be and sadly i don't see this changing anytime soon however, I'd really like for this not to have the slightest effect on how I interact with other people from around the world

If you are against slavery, you should be against Islam. Islam not only does not prohibit or abolish slavery, it allows it, it encourages it. Prophet Muhammed had slaves, females and males, sex slaves and otherwise, he traded slaves, gave them as gifts and took slaves from captive enemies, usually after a battle was over he killed all the men and enslaved all the women for sexual purposes. The Quran has dozens and dozens of verses about slavery, how to treat them, how to make them behave, etc. Muslim soldiers in the early Islamic conquests were given female captives as a reward for military participation. Female slaves whose main use was for sexual purposes were distinguished in markets from those whose primary use was for domestic duties. They were called "slaves for pleasure" or "slave-girls for sexual intercourse". Many female slaves became concubines to their owners and bore their children. This is why you have so many people with somewhat fair skin in the Middle-East. That's what happens in 1400 years of raping female slaves, some of whom were white (Muslims raided as far north as Scandinavia for slaves) There were whole towns that were enslaved in Ireland. Imagine everyone in your village killed or enslaved. Most male slaves had their balls and/or penis cut of, they were castrated and/or neutered so they could not have children or have sex.

Oh yeah and the US abolished and criminalized slavery in 1865, after Great Britain. They enforced the ending of slave trade that they had participated in. The US marine corps were founded to combat slavery that was done by the Tripoli, Algiers, and Tunis. The Arab slave trade was intense, much worse than the one done by Americans. They enslaved millions of Europeans along with tens of millions of Africans. The cause of the U.S. participation was pirates from the Barbary States seizing American merchant ships and holding the crews for ransom, demanding the U.S. pay tribute to the Barbary rulers. United States President Thomas Jefferson refused to pay this tribute. At one point 20% of the US national budget went to pay ransoms.
So when did Islamic nations and peoples abolish slavery (in theory and on paper)? Well let's take Saudi-Arabia for example. King Faisal banned it in 1962. Saudi Arabian Slavery still persists. This is a single example. Google modern day slavery in Islam and you will find out more.
