Alan, I know Garrett has spoken about this topic before, but do you know if he is thinking about getting permits from the Chinese government for the North side of Everest in the future? China will be opening the North side to new and more permits in 2024. And of course you bypass the dangers of the Icefall on the South side of Everest. I fear teams on the South side of Everest our playing Russian Roulette to a degree. I fear the next major tragedy will be in the Icefall. Thoughts???

He’s never spoken of switching to the north but I assume if he feels it unmanageable then he may consider it. If you look at the death stats without emotion (impossible) then the majority of the deaths on the Nepal side do not occur in the Icefall.
