“You’re not going to start day trading with 100k… at least you better not!” 😂 Great video Matt! Been binge watching all your videos for the past few days, amazing free content!
And if you do, you’ll have a $1000 account to trade a micro with soon enough lol.
Thanks Tyler!
One of the legit trader in the internet !
Yes please in depth trading view
Wow thank you so much for this now I can really put in some quality time and get a hands on feel for trading futures. Really appreciate you.
Thanks Jimmy!
Learned a lot about paper trading that I didn't know. Thank you.
To clarify I'd like to see an update on futures brokers and trading platforms, thanks again.
Thanks Joe, will see what I can do!
When I clicked on the drawdown menu beside Save, I could not find "Practice". Please help.
Thanks Matt, Great Info and yes to a more in-depth video on trading view for beginners. Picked up the pro+ BF sale Thanks. A question on KC indicator. I set to true range and it’s very spiky unlike yours..smooth
I have to set to average true range to look similar. Why is this?
Hi Kenny,
It could be just because of the market at that particular time. Use ATR if it makes it smoother, I go back and forth myself depending on the chart. Glad you got the deal, I think you'll be pleased with it.
@@DTND Thank you Matt, I tried they exact chart and time frame you used and its still spikey, Is there another setting by chance? Spikey on all charts and all timeframes
I would welcome a more in-depth video . Hope you do it and thanks for the videos that you have done.
I like your videos. Right now need info on choosing a futures broker and best trading platform. I tried some but went back to trading stocks because of poor service ie. hard to reach for help. Thanks
I liked what you said about getting up to trade London for three years, can you speak more about that experience, I am looking at the indices, and boy they are pretty sleepy during London time, did you trade the indices or what did you trade during your London years.
Nice to include the commissions in simulator. Much more realistic.
Hey Matt, I really appreciate this video, thanks very much. I do have a questions about commissions - do you get charged a commission for setting/moving your SL/TP?
Any other resources you recommend for beginners to learn before jumping into paper trading?
Thanks for your time , best wishes
can you use the Tradingview replay function along with the Tradingview paper account?
They must've changed how TV works since this video was made - you can no longer make futures trades (even on a paper account) without subscribing to a real-time data feed. Error says _"You can only do Paper Trading with symbols you have real-time data access for. Please subscribe to real-time markets."_ What do you suggest as an alternative, Matt?
Hey Scott, use a CFD instrument that tracks the futures contract - S&P, Dow, crude, gold etc and paper trade that to practice. I’m pretty sure I mention the particular S&P cfd instrument with the most suitable point value and spread to the MES. The CFD data is free. Hope that helps.
Hi Scott, which instrument did you end up using?
Thanks for taking the time to make this video, and all the others. I'm finding them helpful and entertaining as I start learning more about futures trading. A few weeks ago I set up a paid account and have been paper trading as time allows. I'm using Tradovate and there is a $15/mo fee for DOM level 2 data. Do you think that would be worthwhile to subscribe to? If so, could you recommend any resources to help me learn to interpret the data. Thanks again for your efforts.
Hey at what number of contracts in emini does slippage usually comes to play ?? Is 200 contract liquid enough??
Thank you very much!
Hi, thank you for the video, a question though. If I understand this correctly, each point is $5, meaning that 10 daily points of potential loss would equal to $50. Are there other instruments that you would recommend that would be in a much lower range to start of with, after paper trading. As personally I know that I would not be comfortable with losing $50 per day.
You can go for the smaller lot size, making it 1$ a tick
I don’t have those stop loss and take profit buttons like you showed once you placed the short order. Is that something you have to enable in settings?
Try hovering your mouse over the blue box that shows how many contracts you're trading
@@orangenejc nope, it only shows “close position” and “reverse position”
Hi there Matt, why is my round turn commission 1.54 for the MES using amp? I always see some exchange fees and I don't know what those are.
Hey Nicolas,
That seems way too high. I just checked the rates and while they’re more than I thought, it should be .94 round turn all in at the most expensive tier. What platform are you using?
@@DTND Sierra chart! It's weird for sure
Is there a difference between selecting KC or KC strategy as an indicator? If so which should we select and why?
I’m not sure what the KC strategy is but I expect it gives some sort of signal based upon the KC data. The one I use is just KC as that’s all I’m looking for.
Anyone try his course yet? Thoughts?
What Tradingview package do you have Matt?
Hey Mike!
I have the pro plus,
BUT I’ve had it so long I’m grandfathered to be able to have 8 charts per layout as that was part of the pro plus package when I originally signed up I don’t think there was a “premium” tier back then.
The current offering for pro plus allows 4 charts which is plenty anyway. You now need premium to get 8 charts per layout.
But its not real time data right. Its mandatory to get real time data to scalp futures right?
You absolutely need real time data for the instrument you’re trading. The oanda feed on tradingview i talk about in this video is real time of the S&P CFD. You can trade it live through them, though I’m talking about using it as a practice tool for futures in this video as it moves very similarly.
Real time data for CFDs are free, futures data you have to pay for.
@@DTND On pro plus that you're using, it's real time no delay data right ? Do you think Tradingview should provide tick chart too in near future ?
@@XAU_Goblin there’s no delay on any version specifically. Regardless which package you have, paid or even free, only way you get a delay is if you don’t have live data (either free or paid depending on the instrument) for the instrument you’re charting. Real time CFD data is free. Real time futures data is not. I pay for real time data so I get real time on tradingview and Sierra. One thing though, you don’t get full depth level 2 on the DOM on tradingview unless you’re logged in to your trading account through it and have it set to live (that you’re going to execute your trades through tradingview). Doing this is impossible when I’m trading on Sierra as I can only be logged into one platform at a time, so if I open a dom in tradingview it only shows the bid and the ask. If I log out of Sierra and connect live to tradingview, the rest of the dom fills up. It’s a non issue really though since I have the full dom open in Sierra.
If you’re going to trade futures live on tradingview or any platform, you need a subscription to real time data for that instrument. That’s usually done through your broker and they give you a login to your chosen platform.
They do not have tick charts, I wish they did. I’m not sure why but I expect there’s a significant reason, as many have been asking for it for years.
Why not TD platform it is FREE
