    I'm pretty sure we all understand that cranberries are just more convenient you never have to replant them for the entire season and just grab some sprinklers don't have to water and you don't have to plant anymore the rest of the season unlike those pumpkins

    • @cullenlatham2366
      @cullenlatham2366 Рік тому +35

      sure, but most of those points barely hold up in comparison. Sprinklers? they benefit both. dont need to replant? is 1-3 harvests really worth the small headache of replanting (at least until you become stubborn with seed makers. *sarcasm* tooootally not projecting). Both have benefits, but replanting is countered by harvesting, with cranberries taking more time to harvest overall, exponentially increasing with yield.

    • @cullenlatham2366
      @cullenlatham2366 Рік тому

      @@viperreal9184 and i am not denying that point, even if it doesnt show the full picture. I was pointing out the "contradictions" and the equivalent factor on the other side to show the difference is much smaller than it first appears. Heck, if we are talking exclusively about profit and the cost of replanting, then we also need to consider the extra yield of mega crops making up for, at least in part, needing to re-buy seeds with the profit from the harvest, even more so when the farm is built around the pattern in which mega crops grow.
      And again, someone as stubborn as me might not even "re-buy" seeds once seed makers enter the equation, which only makes matters more complicated as you trade a monetary profit cut for a time deficit. The first time restocking seeds will be the worst, but after converting an entire harvest into seeds, you likely already have a full field's worth of backup seeds ready, and continuing the cycle only requires breaking down half or less of the next harvest (in part decided by "failure" luck and just how big your stockpile already is). The time deficit is somewhat offset by the fact where you can prepare the next set of seeds while the current one is growing, but that wont realistically happen until the 3rd harvest in a cycle of building up the stockpile.

      they make the better harvesting noise and that’s ultimately the most important

  • @pelahnar4
    @pelahnar4 Рік тому +148

    Consider: Salmence makes a lot of videos for casual players, not speedrunners. Perhaps pumpkins are good for making money if you're needing a "lot" (by early game standards) very quickly, but from a casual perspective, it's easy to set up cranberries with sprinklers and preserves jars to make lots and lots over time, with very little upkeep necessary.
    I'm just saying, it might not be an either or situation

    • @louloudaki_

    Cranberries are great for the greenhouse before you have access to ancient fruit since it continues to produce after the first harvest

    1. cranberry advantage
    2. pumpkin advantage
    3. not profit, oh no, we are going to do....... decorating..... of which nobody has an advantage, but this is stardew, and we are all subject to our own desires, which favors.... you... the viewer..... for clickbait..... dang...

    you are both right and wrong: in first year, cranberries are better option because you gotta finish that greenhouse first (you must already completed the quality bundle with parsnips, melons and corn, so pumpkins are not really necessary except for one) And cranberries can grow faster with speed fertilizer plus they regrow unlike pumpkins. If you played your cards right, you will had a lot of money from summer and a lot of farming experience from spring. But after first year, pumpkins are a better option. Also you need to get the pig before winter comes for first year community center

    honestly with the green grass I would've given Sal's shed a 10/10. For someone who "can't design" he really nailed it. Using roe on the signs instead of cranberries was also a nice touch, but I wouldn't have noticed if he didn't say so in the pinned comment.

    What a drama, let me do basic math for you
    240 g cranberry seed
    20seeds = 4800g
    total harvest within 28days no extra rng crop included (200cranberries) x (75g) = 15000g
    pumpkin 100g each x 40seeds = 4000g
    total harvest within 28 days with no rng included like getting giant crop.
    (40 pumpkin x 320g) = 12,800g
    but if you're using Jar or kegs, it's better to get the pumpkin, less number , less time.
    conclusion: cranberries are better if you're selling them directly.
    pumpkin is better if you processed them.

    • @AB-gh5be
      @AB-gh5be Рік тому +3

      in the first challenge, it was for a way to get milk for pumpkin soup without having to build a barn and raise a cow. in the second challenge, i think seanie was also trying to get it for soup? pumpkin soup is one of sebastian's loved gifts, and his birthday's in midwinter, so it would be a nice way to get hearts. timing just didn't work out.
      that or mr. dew was just stuck in milk mode, you never really know with this man :P

    • @SusieQ_1994
      @SusieQ_1994 Рік тому +2

      Sandy will give you milk when you talk to her sometimes! (Apparently specifically on Saturdays, which I didn't know). Seanie was relying on that gifted milk rather than gathering resources and money for a barn and a cow. :)
