Mike, your attention to detail in perfecting your clean cuts is rarely seen these days. I've never seen anyone fitting a halving joint and fine tuning a piece into a dado with a plane before. Most just rely on the tolerance of the saw cut. (Not even Good Ol' Norm) Sets you above the rest and in the league of Japanese Masters.
Your narration cracks me up too, love your relaxed, understated style

I totally agree about how people form strong associations with music and memories. I remember listening to Nirvana's Incesticide for as a teenager in my bedroom. Now I remember the room, the furniture, the decorating, the view from the window, even the computer game I was playing every time I listen to it. Good looking table Mike. One Headlight by the Wallflowers does the same for me as Daughter does for you. Always reminds me of riding to high school with my sister driving her old POS car and loudly singing I turn the engine, but the engine doesn't turn.

The shop apprentice is certainly growing, all ready to be a big brother.
The table is an extremely beautiful piece, I really like its 'simple' lines. As a newbie I think I find things have a clean appearance are by far the hardest. There’s no routing to hide my mistakes and the idea of making cuts at a 2° angle blows my mind. I wouldn’t trust either my table saw or band saw, both ok hobbyist models, to make such a cut accurately. I’d trust myself even less.
The legs are gorgeous and the care you took to get the veneer perfect is so typical of the standards you set yourself. I love watching you work with such skill and precision, it really is inspiring and always reminds me to take more care. You definitely demonstrate the difference between a skilled professional and an amateur. Though I can see myself buying the plans soon as I to give it a try.
Being my age there are many songs that take me back to specific times in my life, most of them like "Ashes to Ashes" were probably out before you were born.
Another great video, and as I've said before I really learn a lot from your narration. I hope your wife/partner/girlfriend is doing well.

Thanks for the video - really, really good as always. I gave the song Daughter a listen - good stuff. In 1993 I had just finished my university degree after bailing out of carpentry due to eye problems four years before... I had been so busy with classes at the time, I missed the Pearl Jam phenomenon at its inception sad to say.

Thank you. Daughter is a great song. I was a fan from the first moment, but I get how life can get in the way. Hence the reason I'm still listening to music from the 90s.

Beautiful build, as usual! Two things I'm guaranteed to get on my hands no matter how hard I try not to; Gorilla glue and any kind of roofing sealant : ( ! Enjoyed your fine woodworking article. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much. I'm with ya. I always get roofing sealant on my shoes.

Beautiful table Mike. I love osmo too. I’ve been using my rotex to apply it with a white abrasive pad. Works great..

Thank you. Applying Osmo with a buffer is a great idea. Since its a waxy-ish finish that would work very well. I may give that a try.

Absolutely gorgeous. I happen to be sitting on a stock of cherry rough sawn cherry from a tree felled a couple a years ago which should be nicely aged by now. I'll be buying your plans and using a little bit of that stock for one of these tables.
